  1. I have the 48" over my 75g and the 24" over my 40b. They rule. SPS grows very quickly under them and the colors are pretty good. Anything specific I can answer?
  2. Do you grow macroalgae in the sump?
  3. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=snake%20oil
  4. Please let us know. That stuff seems like snake oil in my opinion but on the chance it works, I'll pick up a bottle. I keep eradicating my bryopsis only to have it pop back up. Stuff is a menace.
  5. Honestly mine doesn't seem to respond to it either. Manual removal with a toothbrush and vinegar have been key.
  6. Nice pictures Bert! I had a great time hanging out and chatting with people. It was a pleasure to see some familiar faces and meet some new members. That banana yellow sps was intense. I knew I should have got in on it! Can't wait to see how the shop progresses.
  7. Took a look at this on my computer instead of my phone. I don't think this is bryopsis. I've never seen it grow on sand and it doesn't really look like that. I think you have dino's. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1620464 Still bad and i may be wrong but just a heads up. Here is a picture of what the bryopsis I'm used to seeing looks like. http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/bryopsis1_zpsaf9cad64.jpg.html
  8. Haha I know. I saw it and my first thought was, "welp, glad I went bragging about beating it." Way to stick my foot in my mouth.
  9. Been dealing with this a few months now. I thought I'd finally won with the Tech M solution and manual removal. I didn't. I found several clumps in my sump this morning. Over a gallon of tech m was used this last month. Daily I've ripped large clumps of macro out that had a tiny bit of bryopsis in it. All the teeth in my overflow/sump have been scrubbed repeatedly. The pumps/blowers have all been removed, soaked in vinegar, dismantled, scrubbed, allowed to completely air dry. Yet somehow, this morning, it's back. I'm about at my wits end with this stuff. It's very frustrating and I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I suspect that if it had spread to my rocks I'd have had to shut my tank down. I guess I'll get another gallon of tech m and continue fighting it. Unless someone has some better advice?
  10. Haha that tang was so big I was surprised he didn't use a fishing pole.
  11. Had a fun time, it was awesome to talk shop with folks. Got some pretty coral. Thanks for having us Jeff, your shop is awesome!
  12. Either get on your computer or use your mobile device and select the full site. It's under subscriptions near the top with everything else.
  13. I'm in Salem and would happily hold on to it for a fellow vet! I'll be at the meeting and am likely already grabbing Paratore's frag for him. I spent two years in USFK. I loved Korea.
  14. If it's too personal I apologize for asking but I am very curious how the logistics of this trip were organized. Do you know somebody? Did you just pay for permits? If it was permits, did they charge per coral/clam? The reef trade on the harvesting end has always been a bit of a mystery to me and something that intrigues me greatly. I would love to hear about the details if you wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks again for the pictures, this thread is completely amazing.
  15. Wellsophyllia says what? :p Good reading!
  16. I don't use one/have never used one but it's out of sheer ignorance. I've learned to run a tank completely manually and I run a full spectrum of tests weekly as well as some daily checks. In the long run I'd love to set one up mainly to just monitor temps in case the heater goes out. I'm sure a control unit would make my life easier but you can't miss what you don't know you're missing! Some day I'm sure someone will give me some reasons I can't deny, until then...
  17. Yea Seachem Stability has worked nicely in the past for me. Same same.
  18. I was going to check with you whether you'd be there or not. Do you still need me to pick up your shroom?
  19. Great idea with the trachy skeleton. For your own viewing pleasure, you can bury that skeleton under the sand and put the clam on top of it. They can and will dig their feet down several inches to reach something stable. Just remember, once Maximas attach that byssal plate it is permanent. \/\/\/\/ Lol, I just kind of assumed that I guess.
  20. Agreed with Kim. Looks to be Poccillopora. Sometimes Stylophora grows like that but it looks like it has 'fuzzier' polyps which is more indicative of the former.
  21. The new shelf looks awesome! That's going to be amazing when it grows in.
