  1. Like I said it's still way too early to tell but I'm going to say I have been very skeptical. I just don't believe in cure all magic bullets. More than anything, vinegar, manual removal and a toothbrush have been slowly winning the war on bryopsis. Tech m certainly didn't help.
  2. I appreciate it. Definitely am interesting idea and if you could pay pictures that would be awesome.
  3. I've had two doses so far and bryopsis still keeps popping up in little clumps inside the rest of my macro. This product might take some time and I'll keep you all updated but it's not looking like it's doing much.
  4. I've been running with glass tops on my tanks since I started the hobby. This has allowed me to use wooden canopies to hang my lights from. Recently I've decided to use the LED light hanging kits that my ReefBreeders came with so I can ditch the clunky canopies. Unfortunately this means that I had to ditch the glass tops as well. I altered my top off reservoir to account for the additional evaporation without too much hassle. Then came the issue of covering the tanks. I didn't want to have a completely open top because I have jumping fish in there and also three young kids that could potentially throw things into the tanks. I wanted to use screen kits with bird net but due to both the side brackets of my LED's and external overflow boxes, there was no real way to do this. In the end I opted to just use eggcrate. It may block light, but it blocks a lot less than the glass typically did. Beyond this, the increased gas exchange from open tops seems to have made the coral a lot happier. Overall I've been pretty happy with the transition. Then I woke up this morning to a purple firefish on the floor and our black headed jawfish cooking on top of the eggcrate. I'm bummed. I knew it was a risk but didn't really think they'd make it through the gaps. The majority of our fish are smaller ones, but there's quite a few. It's become evident in recent months that I needed to let the herd thin itself out and once the bioload was decreased I could replace them with fewer, larger fish. It still sucks losing them to the carpet.

    ID me

Looks like unhappy/unextended acans or possibly even a baby bowerbanki. My money is on the acans though.
  6. Ok well, just put my first dose of 14ml in the sump. I'd post before pictures but I don't know where any bryopsis is left. It occurs to me that my results will be better demonstrated over time meaning that unless I see it come back I'm just going to have to assume that it worked. I'll be dosing 14ml twice a week, wednesday/sunday until my 8oz bottle is depleted. I'll keep you all posted. Looking good Flash!
  7. Really looking nice Sean! That stand is beautiful. I'm excited to see how it progresses!
  8. I can post a picture of yours or send you one to post. You might want to see what Brian wants you to do about yours. edit: sent
  9. Yea I hate to say it but the CUC isn't going to help with this stuff. Furthermore from my recent experience, leaving .0000001% (IE just the tinyiest speck) of bryopsis will allow it's return. This stuff is a very all or nothing kind of pest. I had to do a ton of manual removal to get to the point I'm at now (no visible plant matter anywhere I can find), and I'm still about to use the Vibrant to finish it off. This was all done over the course of a month of Tech M dosing. I went through a full gallon of it while I dealt manually with the stuff. I was very, very lucky that it never spread to my rocks. It's been exclusively in my sump and in my overflow boxes and blowers. I also killed off a whole gallon of vinegar cleaning my gear and probably 2-3 toothbrushes as well over the last month. Phew. I apologize if I'm sounding discouraging but I've been having a heck of a time ridding my system of this crap and it's my hope that my experience can benefit others. Here's hoping that Vibrant does what it's supposed to and kills it off for good finally.
  10. Looks almost like a mithrix/emerald. Cool find!
  11. Dang Bill, good job! You're like a wizard. After seeing your top off safety I'm still trying to talk myself into setting mine up like that.
  12. Sent him a pm. It would be a major relief to get rid of these amateur hour ones. Everything else looks super sleek and nice and then there's my hatchet jobs. :(
  13. I crafted canopies for both of my tanks when I set them up. They look all right but I'd like to hire someone to build professional looking tops. Tanks are: 75g Marineland Majestic 40b Aqueon I have a height requirement of 10-12" for my lights but other than that I just need them to match the stands. Reply here or in a pm and lets talk about this!
  14. Don't forget you and I are battling two different problems. This way we can evaluate this product for both dinos and bryopsis. Here's hoping!
  15. My 1300 settings. It gets a tiny bit brighter at 1400 but this is more or less the peak of the day.
  16. Tank specs are in my sig. Reef levels are Alk:10dKh, Cal:450, Mag:1440. I have this ricordia growing in my frag tank but both tanks are tied to the same sump and thus share the same water supply. ~140g total volume. You can kind of see it but there are 3 green mouths on my frag. It's been eating fauna marin lps pellets.
  17. Ugh. Found two little tiny clumps starting in my sump today. Picked it off and scrubbed the spots with a toothbrush. I just ordered an 8oz bottle of vibrant reef cleaner. I'll post my own review as soon as I've used it.
  18. Eh, not really. Takes a lot of purple. It's blue around morning and night but a nice natural color through the middle of the day.
  19. Reefbreeders offers an excel file to input your channel maxes and it programs a 12 hour schedule. Here is the excel file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2oeqzxvn3ybnew/TankTable.xlsx My maxes are: Hour to start lights 8:00 Max Channel 1 Intensity 40 Max Channel 2 Intensity 40 Max Channel 3 Intensity 80 Max Channel 4 Intensity 60 Max Channel 5 Intensity 80 Max Channel 6 Intensity 75 I'll post a tank shot tomorrow when everything is awake. I've only had a couple months of smooth sailing so nothing too crazy yet but the daily growth is noticeable on sps. I ran chinese black box LED's prior to these. It didn't go too well and didn't look good.
  20. I appreciate it Sean. Honestly though if this product kills bryopsis then they can take my dollars at a high rate of speed. I'm all for a biological answer as opposed to some aquatic herbicide. I just have a hard time imagining anything out competing the devil algae. We're all gunna find out in this thread pretty shortly though!!!
