  1. Your sump intake area reminds me of a ball pit. That's an interesting idea.
  2. Congrats everyone! Good work, this has been a fun competition to follow. Thanks to Brett and Softy for donating their time and polyps to this!
  3. I use dosing but have never used a reactor. It's pretty easy to set for consumption and I literally use digital timers attached to BRS 1.1mL peristaltic pumps because I don't like computers making decisions for me. I am definitely not the normal case though. It's only set up this way so that I have even more fine control and eyes on with my chemistry levels. It's probably more work in the long run. That said, what I do works great!
  4. What are your thoughts on the ratio between red/white? My lights can control all 6 channels and I usually run the reds at about half whatever the white is currently at. I also notice I get a crazy amount of coralline to the point it's obnoxious to keep scraping every other week or so. Do you think this might be why? I don't get any other types of algae growth in the display but keep a large macro herd in the sump.
  5. I'm with Jorge/Fragged on this. Supporting members only and a buy in. There has to be some kind of compensation to both the club and the hosts for taking the time. Coral ain't exactly cheap. That said I am excited to see the next grow out!
  6. I use ReefBreeders LED's, by the way. They're a bit more spendy but not as bad as some of the others. They also work really, really well.
  7. When's the next competition start? My system is dialed and I'm rearin' to go! Great job everyone on the sekura's and thank you Brett and Softy for hosting this!
  8. I've used Euphotica which is pretty similar. You get what you pay for, I didn't have a lot of luck with them.
  9. I have a Christmas wrasse that has been very well behaved. She irritates me a lot though because she sleeps in the sand and flings substrate all over coral and rocks when she digs. I love her but would not get another. Then we have a blue sided fairy wrasse who is as sweet as can be. Not a burrowing species so she sleeps in the rocks. Doesn't pick on anything and is a very social fish.
  10. Paratore is legit to deal with and more than fair. How much for the gyre and what size is it? Wish you'd have put this up a few days earlier!
  11. Is your name "thread necromancer"?
  12. Really cool. Can't wait to see how this progresses!
  13. Paging Lexinverts. He's got some for sale I think.
  14. As a side note, I've been keeping the lawnmower with a mated pair of scooter blennies. They don't seem to even notice each other.
  15. I've heard two blennies are a bad idea. That said, my fat little lawnmower doesn't eat anything except offered food. His name is Jabba and he deserves it.
  16. Looks like a blast! I'm sorry we'll have to miss this one, just a little too far to drive.
  17. Really beautiful tank Lex. Your choice of color and placement is incredible.
