  1. Dude, come! You and my wife make it three. Bring on the vets!
  2. No. In fact, I've had mine over 1600 for the last two weeks to clear out some briopsis. Alk and cal have not budged and everything is happy! 1400 is still my bare minimum. Low mag is a huuuge problem. I won that fight so the mag is slowly coming back down.
  3. You guys aren't kidding. At the very least make sure they run copper in the system you're buying from or use your own quarantine. It's kind of like STD's but for your tank. Play safe. Edit: most of my fish have come from Garrett. He knows what's up.
  4. That's kind of my point, friend. Mag is what stabilizes them. Raising it won't cause any damage and definitely shouldn't be causing any more fluctuations. Quite the opposite.
  5. I keep mag at 1440. Any lower and alk/cal have gotten wonky. That said my alk stays at 10 and calcium at 450. Not sure if your slightly lower levels would change things but maybe raise your mag over 1400. Lex is right. Salifert is good. I personally use Red Sea and have no complaints.
  6. Just splice the wires back together with twist caps. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twist-on_wire_connector No solder needed. The most complicated part is stripping a tiny bit of sheath from the end of each wire to twist together and cap.
  7. Sorry about the fish. Chromis have a tendency to die while adjusting to a new tank, in my experience. That and every tank has a magical chromis number that their school will allow. This is purely anecdotal but I've tried adding a few here and here but they always diminish themselves to two fish and then they're stable. Weird fish.
  8. Alcohol. Almost four years sober! I'm fine being around it and have no complaints about others use of it. I just have a problem.
  9. Congrats man, you deserve that one! Now, how do I get a frag of the pink ones?
  10. Whooooo!!! Amazing! I love that purple stylo! (I hope it's a stylo...) Also the sporadic Sunny D's spread out in there. Those are my favorite paly.
  11. No I think he said you were only allowed to lift a vacuum. Haha. XD kidding.
  12. I use reef roids/chili/frenzy plus phyto and fuel and zooplankton. Acro power, marine snow etc. I should have said that. I really want to slim down my product line. I use filter socks and a 150sss on 140 gallon system. I run a carbon reactor and a bag of phosguard all the time. I have a huge biofilter via macro and rock. My sump is very effective.
  13. I'm relatively new to reefing and through my first year I've had a lot of failure. Turns out it was my LEDs being waaaaaay too bright. I started heavily target feeding a while back because it was the only way to get anything to live, let alone grow. My lights are fixed and the tank is exploding but I'm concerned my DSB is turning into a time bomb regardless of my very robust CUC. Easiest answer would be to cut back, and I have. Easy enough. Then I started reading and there's a lot of people that don't target feed at all. I'm still broadcast feeding liquid and powdered food plus a few krill for the larger LPS and pellets and frozen for the fish. With all that said I'd like your input guys and gals. I know food can help heal damaged coral and promotes faster growth in things like duncans and sun coral etc. I'm not looking to go low nutrient but I believe that all things in moderation is a key to success so I'd like to meet in the middle. I do not have and have not been having algae problems. Well, other than a tiny bit of briopsis popping up but that was dealt with very quickly. Let's hear your coral feeding regiment.
  14. So, what'd you do to your leg? Why did the seam bust?
  15. Where are you? I have neither barrels nor storage, but if you need a strong back or a truck, let me know. Sympathies on the leg and the tank.
  16. I've lost a big stylo to Brown jelly and it is mean stuff. I'd vote sponge if it's not bothering anything. I have similar white slimy ones but they hate light and only grow under rocks in the shade.
  17. Welcome! Excited to hear your insights!
  18. I am not seeing a price tag. That is maybe a bad sign lol.
  19. I'm sure there'll be more but put me down for some sunny d's. I had a good colony but accidentally threw the rock in my saltwater res and didn't notice until they were already gone. I'm always after bright stuff so thank you for the offer, I will take you up on it. Plus I just love seeing tanks.
  20. Very nice photography! Your tanks are amazing and I'd love to root through there for frags. That nem tank is really neat. Do you do anything with the space under the racks? This thread has been fun to follow, thanks for sharing!
