  1. S. Gigantea Anemone. I'm pretty sure these are what usually host clownfish in the wild.
  2. Says it can kill bryopsis too. Seems too good to be true. I'd be interested to hear some testimonial on how it does cleaning all that up.
  3. Rod's rules. Great for fish, great for coral.
  4. Welcome to the forums! 300 is a huge tank! Is it also acrylic?
  5. Salifert is nice but I really dislike that you can't screw the bottle on to the titration rig. Red Sea has remained my go to. I find it to be easier and more accurate. Hannah checkers have been really inconsistent for me.
  6. BRS 2 part dosed through BRS 1.1/mL peristaltic pumps. I have a pump for alkalinity (soda ash) and a pump for calcium (calcium chloride). Each has it's own digital timer and is adjusted manually once a week after testing as needed. Magnesium is in the form of Kent Tech M dosed manually as needed. 2x/week on wed/sun I add: Phyto. (Brightwell phyto green and phyto chrom) Zooplankton (Brightwell 500-2k uM) 2LF Marine Snow Aminos (Both Aquavitro Fuel and Acro Power) Powdered foods get added once a week. I alternate between Reef Roids/Coral Frenzy/Reef Chili. Variety is the spice of life!
  7. Could be baby stomatella snails or some kind of limpet. My bet is limpets.
  8. You jest but man my ricordia better bring it's appetite. Gunna feed this thing selcon'd mysis daily. :3
  9. Hey, nice! What kind of wood did you use?
  10. Free shipping if you have a prime account: https://www.amazon.com/Red-Sea-ARE11230-Aquarium-175-Gallon/dp/B000YJ2XCU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477423822&sr=8-1&keywords=red+sea+coral+pro+salt Best deal I've been able to find on it. edit: Oh local, derp. Sorry, definitely not local but perhaps cheaper.
  11. Hi Sean great to hear you're getting your tank filled! I too use Coral Pro. My desired levels are 10dKh, 450 calcium and 1440 mag. I do biweekly water changes and this mix puts my levels right under where I want them. I still have a drip system with BRS 2 part that drips slowly every day to keep my levels at this point. To answer your question, no. I've not experienced that high of alkalinity.
  12. I'll be coming up to attend this meeting so that'd be perfect for me. This does technically fit the rules too, right? First week of the month!
  13. Yea no problem Cody. I'll follow up with you once Brian lets us know where/when to come get them.
  14. Yeehaw! You're the man Brian. I've sent payment. When can I pick it up? I'm down in Salem but will make it work around your schedule.
  15. Anxiously awaiting the new thread. I'm excited to see the Ricordias!
  16. It was a real pleasure to meet you and your reef Bill. Thank you again for having me and hooking up a bunch of awesome frags. I really feel like I learned a few things from my visit! I'm totally jealous of that blue faced angelfish. Seriously one of the prettiest reef fish I've gotten to see in person.
  17. Congrats Daniel! You deserve it, that pair is gorgeous and it's a very nice shot of them. Just a random curiosity, do those bite? :p
  18. Really cool Cody! I love that aquascaping. Is your derasa going in there?
  19. I've got 3 maximas and a derasa. As long as the lights are bright enough to grow coral you're covered there. I keep them all on the sand bed except for my gold/silver maxima who latched his foot onto a large conch shell that was hiding under the sand. I wedged that shell into my rocks where he can't possibly fall and he's been happy ever since. As far as water quality, the only thing I've ever managed to do that made them unhappy was switched from carbon in my reactor to gfo. All the clams sealed right up and didn't open again until I switched back to carbon. I feed phyto 2x/week which they seem to enjoy. I was super hesitant at first to get a clam because of all the fuss people raise about them. Honestly they've been easier to deal with than most coral and they have the added benefit of being natural water filters. I keep ~140g total volume though so there's a bit of a size difference. Feeding as much as I do in a smaller tank could cause algae problems. Your maxima is very pretty! Enjoy it!
  20. Thank you for hosting this Brian! This is really awesome of you and I'm glad to be a part of it.
  21. The wife and I will probably be here. We've been meaning to come up and check out C&C for a while now. The new location is just icing on the cake! Thanks for hosting this Jeff, can't wait to come check it out!
  22. Share the love! My SPS is going nuts so I'd love this!
