  1. Hi all, Discovered the pH probe that I use to control my CA reactor died and took it off line. Just thought I would check in and see if anyone had a spare they were willing to part with before I order one online - deliveries have been kind of dicey lately. Give me a shout if you have something. Thanks!
  2. Well, that would require that I actually have something worth taking a pic of in my tank 😞 COVID has not been kind to the tank or my work schedule... Thanks for the heads up though!
  3. Yep - as long as you can remove them to fit them in there. Definitely not something you see on here every day. GLWS!
  4. Will be keeping an eye on this as well. Have been pondering the biodiversity question while struggling with my tank. Picked up some additions from SuncrestReef a while back so want to give things a bit more time to equilibrate and recover from the rusted out return pump fiasco before retesting.
  5. I'm not sure about Higher Thinking's experience but in my old tank, I had too much rockwork to effectively try removing and they were expert at getting into crevices where physical removal wasn't a viable option. I tried the usual aptasia treatments to try and keep them in check but they eventually just got to a point where I had to pull the whole thing down - the rock baked in my driveway for about 6 years until I set another tank up - in which I fortunately have not seen them again. The way the F-aptasia works, however, there is a chance it could be effective in cases where it's impractical to take out the rockwork. If you can take it out (sounds like you already did) and remove them that way it's probably your best bet. Hope you managed to catch them early enough.
  6. Second this - these look like majanos and are way harder to eradicate than aptasia with no known predators that I am aware of. It would be worth trying the F-aptasia on these as I have recently also had much better luck with that than Aptasia-X on actual aptasia. No experience trying it with majanos as it wasn't around when I had my outbreak. Like Andrew, I tore down a large (125) tank because of these - they are not to be trifled with! Good luck!
  7. Welcome! Sounds like a nice tank choice. I look forward to seeing a build thread on this so hopefully you like to take pics as you go πŸ˜„
  8. Those look sweet Bret @MrBret Will be curious to see them if/when I ever make it back out there πŸ˜”
  9. We are keeping it up in your honor I guess...
  10. It’s kind of a thing now. I think Jeremy might be leaving it up just to taunt us. Either that or to see who is actually paying attention
  11. Congrats! I have seen those in a few times but they are striking and not all that common. Hope it does well!
  12. If it weren’t so expensive I would suggest just picking up a couple of powder brown or powder blue tangs - guaranteed ich magnets. I am only sort of kidding on this as they have always been the first to show visible infection in any tank outbreak I have had. Gave up on keeping them anymore even though they are beautiful fish. I will let Brian fight that fight @pdxmonkeyboy and just come see them in his tank. πŸ‘
  13. Congrats on the sale - hope you get that colony going some day.. I want to see one live!
  14. Hey Brad - do you have a larger colony of that which shows the full coloration? Just curious since some of the pics online of the small colonies look pretty impressive. Not that I would ever be in position to buy it - just like learning about some of these high dollar pieces πŸ˜€
  15. Nice Bill - I like the dimensions! Did you have that one custom made? BTW - whenever I think about moving something I think of Jorge - he is a one man crew all by himself πŸ˜„ @Jorge
  16. This does not surprise me in the least... John take good care of his gear for sure.
  17. Nice pic BTW - I know I wouldn't want to mess with you... well, no more than normal anyway πŸ˜€
  18. Bummer. Was just checking in to see how it went. Sorry man.
  19. Thanks was hoping for the 72 inch as a backup to my current tank. GLWS
  20. Hello - what are the dimensions on the 120?
  21. Great to meet you and your son today. Glad that tank is finally going to get set up - looking forward to seeing pics of it as it comes along. Good luck!
  22. As I expected, an entertaining thread! You could probably get as many different opinions and approaches to QT as there are reefers in this community. I do think it is important to make sure anyone buying or trading with you is aware of known issues and ideally your approach to husbandry but, really, everyone should just assume there will be hitchhikers of some variety and treat accordingly based on their own comfort level (dip/QT/?). While it would be nice to think everyone has the resources to implement a stringent scheme the realities are most likely going to make that impractical or at least unlikely. Kudos to those who manage to pull it off though as it definitely takes patience and great attention to detail. This is kind of an exciting possibility as a way to monitor our systems. What do you think the "confidence level" is with the current testing protocol and how many of the common diseases are you screening for?
  23. What were you thinking! I have to admit, I try not to think about this but with all the crashes lately, I keep adding up what I had just spent on restocking and get freaked out - and that is even taking full advantage of Holly's $10 sales so nothing like what a lot of you have put in. I don't even have a lot (by comparison) invested in the automation hardware. Definitely can give one pause...
  24. There is a hat to match!!! I want that!
