  1. Man o man I miss this tank:) But I am back on the hunt for a new tank idea...hoping to do another SPS dominated tank. I need to have it not be open top, so I am trying to get some canopy ideas and overall tank dimension ideas. Wish me luck, or send me some ideas!
  2. You All do such a great job with these monthly events! Keep it up, see u sooner or later! Rudy’s is always a great spot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. One thing you want to be sure you get your temps right....put the fish in the buckets, but really try to make sure they don't get cold(try to keep the temp up on the rock too! this will minimize your cycle, or eliminate it all together). And wait for your new tank to fully stabilize the heat when you get it set back up. It may take a long time depending on how far/how cold it is this weekend. I would probably use half the water, and then swap the other half for a nice big WC.
  4. Probably time for some new shots[emoji6]drooooolers! I can’t get enough of these. I feel like i am on some weird mind altering drugs when i look at your pics! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. not very well! My ATO's(jbj) always seem to need to be reset manually...jiggled.
  12. Thats a true beauty! I had a similar one in my reef for a couple months...i believe it was classified as a fire urchin. Be super careful as those spines are supposed to be quite painful and poisonous. The only problem I had was that mine scratched the acrylic up pretty bad when he cleaned the front/sides. 16. Well, we are finally moving and the new place looks like I will need a whole new dimension of tank. This tank worked amazingly well for SPS, LPS, zoas and fish! Really easy to operate, reliable, and beautiful. Tank Sold Light ATI 48" 8 bulb non-dimmable powermodule-sold Return Pump: Jebao DC12000 - $50 pending JBJ ATO: $50 pending Miscellaneous heaters, powerheads, nets and more available for free if you buy tank;)
  17. upgrade your cleanup crew. add small army.... Check your RODI water...old filters? If you are able to harvest algae elsewhere, that is a great way to get rid of excess nutrients...aka the refugium, algae scrubber etc. I grew hair algae in my sump on purpose...I had it going super thick in the refugium/sump for a few years, and never saw one spec of it in my120 SPS tank...though I did have a posse of tangs too:) Tech M works...sometimes:) But it's active ingredient I'm not a big fan of....so...yeah...lots of options, good luck! The more natural you can go, the better...IMO.

  24. Well, in the end it was a good run, though as fish tank fate would have it, the tank is coming down. We are moving(not far) our home, and I like to adopt my fish before things end badly:) I am happy to report that i have had zero casualties to fish, inverts or coral. So far:) The teardown process is somewhat of an art...one that takes a good deal of time and preparation to do right. Here is a basic list of what I would recommend to someone tearing down a tank, or downsizing. Step one: adopt/sell animals, coral first. Avoid moving too much base rock as you can release some nasty stuff. This stage takes alot of time to do right, especially if you have an old big tank:) Step two: remove rock. Wear gloves of some sort. Remove As Slowly as possible. I try to remove just one or two rocks a day(this would vary on your tank size) in this stage, look carefully for inverts and lost animals looking for a home! This is another reason its important to go slow...let the water clear for a day or three and then start looking for new stuff. You'll be amazed what lives in the crevices and cracks. Step three: once rock and all fish and all inverts/creatures are out you can begin your equipment teardown. Good luck with that:) Equipment to have handy: extra water, multiple sizes of fish bags, towels, GLOVES!, coolers, a friend or three, iphone or similar device (to take pictures of animals for re-homing), buckets and plastic containers, hose, did i say extra water, and devices to hold water(buckets or bins) Thanks to all the members here who have given these animals good homes! Look for the rebuild, new tank, style and complete overhaul, Coming Winter 2017.
