It is good and bad...for lots of reasons...many stated above. It is also inevitable. That being said, I guess I like to end a tank on good terms rather than bad...if possible:) Most of my tanks make it with me for maybe like 3-7 years. And pretty much all of my previous tanks i adopted out a huge amount of livestock....a little painful yes, but at least you can find really good tanks for these creatures so far from their native homes. Why is it that pumps so frequently go out during a routine maintenance job..:had this happen so many times. Makes me leery everytime my pumps shutoff... So yeah, having backups is always a good idea...though we are super lucky to live where we do...so many lfs carry good quality pumps of all shapes and sizes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That stuff builds up on pretty much anything that gets hot, and the more carbonate available in the system, the more buildup overtime. Had this stuff destroy my pumps in the past. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
