  1. Yep, Woody is still around, but he doesnt work in the shop. He got pretty sick there for a while and is still recovering. If you call, he answers.
  2. OH, that was your tank! Man that looked like a beast of job. I have been secretly visiting Seahorse for the past year, glad to see Terry got on board! Terry is Woody's son in law. He and his wife are running the shop, and doing a great job so far!
  3. Well, I think things have calmed down finally in the reef, but I still feel like I am always on the brink of disaster:) I took out a bunch of rock that was just not working, and had become overgrown with coral and mojanos(which I have found are super easy to remove by hand...their foot hold is often not great, so if they are on a frag, just pluck it) I had found a beautiful piece of rock from Seahorse Aquarium, and it fit beautifully. I will get some pics, but it is a really nice piece of tonga intertwined rock. Well, removing that much rock caused my tank to cycle again, I think I lost my fireshrimp and some snails. Luckily I have lots of hermits(mental note, buy more blue legged troops). So the algae was pretty ugly for a while. At the moment, things are looking better. I only clean the glass once a month(i know right!), so really it has evolved to a living room farm vat tank. Last night I decided it was time to trim the zoas and palys, so farming is still happening:)
  4. Maybe the light got left on? Maybe it's part of a normal tank cycle. What happened to the tank?
  5. I think they call this an extreme low tide. Hopefully your house isn't too damaged:( I would imagine there will be a smell. Great time to call the cleaners:)
  6. gone, thanks and enjoy. They are actually really cool, their faces were almost humanlike:)
  7. Got two of these bulldozers! Free to a good home...itried one in my refugium, but he died:( they need room to roam. Not sure how long snails are supposed to live? They just ate too much and got too big for my tank:) Must pickup newberg.
  8. If you have the space...from day one. A good controller will shut it off if your calcium needs aren't huge. Better to get it dialed in before you have lots and lots of corals to worry about. $.02
  9. uncontrollable face contorting.
  10. $100 is cheap for 4 blonde haired blue eyed b$#$%^&
  11. Sounds like a nice clean no fuss setup. I like the rock nems...do they need to be fed? Oh, what is your flow? I've got an 8 gallon with an mp10 and I think it may bee too much for my softies:(
  12. How about some tank specs? Filter, light, etc? Maybe i missed it.
  13. Unreal colors. Makes me want to get a new led for my nano...oh and a couple g's in rainbow corals! Well done
  14. I use the winco special...have to refill it about every 2-3 weeks on my nano. Im paranoid though, so i only put the intake tube a couple inches below the water level. On my large tank i use a combination of 40 gallon brute which is manually plumbed to a home depot 5 gal bucket. Thats about every three days...in fact that reminds me i need to fill it:)
  15. Newberg, but I am frequently coaxed west towards Wilsonville. Mostly Chaeto now adays!
  16. What is it about Sprung videos that make me so sleepy?
  17. Looks like a nice little fuge Spectra! I started with 6, but I'm down to 4, maybe 3 macros...In my fuge one tends to thrive while the others just kinda do barely ok. Chaeto is king, though ,y current favorite is a weird bubbly slime algae that grows on the surface, and some wicked hair algae that I know is gobbling up the phosphates and nitrates:)
  18. No need for mud...No need for sand....no need for rocks... Just macros! and TRIM THEM! Many people I find are surprised that I trim my fuge down very regularly...this helps encourage growth and nutrient export. The less stuff you have in the fuge, the easier it is to suck out detritus. Depending on your setup...In my setup, I have a very low flow going through a similar size fuge...and over time it just becomes a great place to suck detritus from...again, nutrient export. Some rocks won't hurt, but IMO mud or sand is not a good idea. Of course, there are many ways to skin this cat!
  19. Thats a good idea jack. Anything externally plumbed frightens me a little since it is on hardwood floors, away from my supervision 3 days aweek...
  20. Nitrates were crawling to 30...added a mini refugium to one of the pump chambers, not sure if this is a viable long term solution...but im gonna try:)
