  1. Thanks! The rib rack belongs to some other handy reefer though.
  2. I picked up an apex classic to compare to my reefpi set up the other day and realized I needed a module to connect my float switches for my ATO. I know I can order a break out box for around $35 but I like tinkering and had all the parts on hand except for the mini din. (I know I have some in a box somewhere.) I fired up tinkercad to make a quick box with a sliding lid and 7 6mm holes for the headphone jacks and the din cable. Once that was printed I bridged all the grounds and identified the pins and wires. Then, on to soldering the connections. Last, I attached it to my stand, slid the lid in and plugged it in. It works great but I learned my aqua lifter needs to be on socket 4 or 8 since it pulls so little voltage.
  3. I lost a 7.1 surround receiver do that. The sound you hear when you first plug in. Is it a slight wurring sound? Almost like a small fan starting up? Kind of like the old CRT tvs? If so, its most likely the 2 sockets in the EBs that are for the higher amps. The rest are solid state relays but the mechanical kinds have to charge up
  4. I have an SCA skimmer as well. I did not notice that when I changed from a glass to an acrylic sump. However, I also traded displays at the same time. Make sure the pump is seated in the skimmer well, I have had issues when it doesnt click in all the way. Are you able to calm the bubbles down with the blue adjustment tube?
  5. In my experience, No. I tried a few combos with much larger fish as well as "aggressive" fish. I added an adult tomato clown that lasted several months, till I found them dead on the bottom chewed up. I swear the damsel just got bored one night and would kill a fish. Sometimes ones that had been in the tank for over a year with them. As soon as I sumped the damsels, all fish additions survived.
  6. Isn't that always the way it goes. Jobs take the fun our of everything!
  7. Looks like its coming along! I am jealous. I have been eyeing that sca 150. its such a good deal.
  8. If Paul is skipping, does that mean I am up @CuttleFishandCoral?
  9. You should keep all of that. Sounds like I should be ok, and will keep an eye out. I assumed they came from me based on timing. You have a great tank and I am sorry you are battling this. I wonder if Willco or a rual vet might be able to provide some interceptor if MrBret cant.
  10. Junior, I am really sorry about this. I had no idea I had them since I have never had any acros in that tank and have not seen any on my montis. Before last week, I had not added anything to the tank since the pandemic. I was under the impression, they only ate acros and would die off in a few weeks without. Do you know what else they can live off of? Sounds like I should get a pill as well, right? or can I just dip the one acro frag I have now? I cant remove the montis from the rock work.
  11. Off topic, but is there anyway to tap in to the sensor signal to tell a Reef-Pi, apex or other controller of the status with those?
  12. I am a fan of multiple drains. I like the beananimal style so I run 2 active drains and an emergency overflow. I would drill it. its scary the first few times but really easy.
  13. Please add me to the list for the LED one.
  14. 88th reply! So 89th post according to the stat on the main page
  15. Me either. I need someone to pick it up ASAP. I dont have a place for this but its almost too good to pass up.
  16. Dang! Those are some good prices. A bit of a drive for me so I might have to just wait till I need all my tanks filled. Thanks for the recommendation.
  17. That is a great looking tank @Manny Tavan
  18. Do the colored filaments cause issues or is it that we don't really know what they used to dye the plastic? Should I remove the silver PLA rack I made last night?
  19. Thanks @danlu_gt thats is great news and bad. I did not know how unbiodegradeable the biodegradable PLA is.
  20. I accidently fragged (broke with my fat hand) my hammer coral the other day and realized I should print a frag rack for them as well as the random frags I am constantly trying to get to heal from my goby, pistol and conch are constantly covering them in sand. I have a 3d printer so I wanted to just print a rack. I searched google and it seems there are mixed reviews on if PLA will work. I know a couple of you have 3d printed parts for your reef. Has anyone had issues with PLA? Or do I need to get some PETG and give that a try?
  21. Try facebook. there is a guy in Salem looking for any starter corals. He calls out GSP and xenia. He already has a kenya tree. I know what you mean about not wanting to throw it away. I feel the same way and struggle to give away the kenya tree and green singularia every few months when I cut them down. My urchin thought it would be funny to drop a tiny piece of each in a little hole under my toadstool. They get just enough light to thrive. If no one will take them, I will try to bring them in to the LFS and get a couple of dollars off my purchase.
  22. my large plecos only made a few random tails in the algae. They loved their veggies though. Apples snails killed the algae though.
