  1. They have a decent selection of smaller saltwater fish, cleanup crew, but a very limited selection of corals. Mostly soft corals and a few LPS. Their tanks always look really dirty and I've never bought any saltwater livestock there. My wife usually gets her freshwater fish there, although I just took her to All Things Aquarium for the first time and she realized what a better selection they have.
  2. I went back and checked my logs. I sent you the water sample on October 9th. On October 15th I started dosing Flux RX (Fluconazole) to treat a bryopsis problem and turned off the auto water changes. Then I did a 20% water change on October 29th. I just wanted to confirm the sample was taken before the water change.
  3. I've been doing automated daily water changes in my tank for almost 2 years. I have varied the amount, from 1.5 gallons to 3 gallons daily depending on tank conditions. I only occasionally do large water changes, typically every 6 months when I'm doing major sump maintenance to clean all my pumps, skimmer, and UV. I always keep a minimum of 30 gallons of new saltwater on hand just in case I need to do a larger change.
  4. I just logged into my PortlandGeneral.com account and was able to see my payment history dating back to December 2016. Since I only started reefing in April 2018, I was able to see pre- and post-reefing utility bills. It looks like I'm spending about $60 per month more since I started my tank. I only have a single 110g system, plus I heat my 75g saltwater mixing tank. I keep my house temperature at about 70 and my tank at 78.
  5. Eli, In your first round of testing, my tank had 614 microbial types and was the most diverse of all your samples. On the second round, my results dropped dramatically to only 213 microbial types. Did you see similar large swings in other samples? I haven't really changed anything in my tank or with my maintenance routine, so I'm at a loss for why it would change so much. Any thoughts? May 2019: October 2019: @EMeyer
  6. Welcome! It's great that your whole family is involved. Feel free to post any questions. There are a lot of very experienced reefers here to help. Or, just post more photos...we love photos!
  7. Nice clean setup! What size is that tank?
  8. I'm thankful for all my PNWMAS friends and the great reefing community we have here. I hope you all have a great holiday season and healthy, thriving reefs!
  9. It took my clowns about 10 months to find the anemone, and now they’re starting to explore my goniopora too! Thanks @Lexinverts
  10. Do you use any type of controller? My Apex won't let the ATO run more than 3 minutes regardless of what the water level sensor is reporting. It has 4 layers of safeguards: Low optical sensor High optical sensor 3 minute timer Float valve
  11. In the app, click the upper right icon, then click your name, then click Link Apex:
  12. I see that Joe from Neptune helped you out on the Neptune forums. I didn't realize the 404 error you were getting was actually from Neptune's own site. I thought you were getting that from the Apex itself. Like Joe mentioned, it's definitely worth downloading the new IOS app. It really does make setting up a new Apex much simpler (including the older Classic and Jr models) and eliminates the need for any link tokens.
  13. Yes, if you're able to connect both the Apex and your laptop with network cables to the router, you should be able to access it by just typing http://apex.local without even knowing the IP address. Or you can use the IP address if you choose.
  14. Have you tried downloading the latest Fusion app on your iPhone? They just updated it last week and the new version has streamlined Apex setup. See this video for a demo (skip to 21:00):
  15. I love this time of year when the sun shines through my tank just before sunset and casts fish shadow puppets on my wall:
  16. Welcome to the club! Looking forward to meeting you at the party. Be sure to post in the Introduction thread for your chance to win a free frag! See details here: http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/topic/46142-new-membership-drawing/
  17. Yes, the alk consumption correlates to the photo period. Earlier this year I posted this graph shortly after I got my Trident. In the past I always tested alk each morning at 9am. If you only look at the Trident's daily 9am readings (in red), it looks like things are pretty stable. But when you factor in the additional daily tests, you see how much fluctuation actually exists: To compensate, I now dose my 2-part in different amounts during the day vs. night, and my alk now remains within a 0.10 dKH swing. See my Trident thread for more details.
  18. It appears that photos are no longer showing up in the forums or in private messages. Something broken with AWS again? Seems like this happens every few months or so. @TheClark @Chief
  19. Are you using Trident Controlled Dosing? If so, what's your dosing schedule? Here's mine, for my Reefer XL 425 (88g display, SPS dominant):
  20. @MrBret may be able to help you out, in particular on the zoas.
  21. I have a few thoughts/questions: Do these tanks have bulkheads to attach plumbing? It doesn't mention that in the product description, or show it in the technical drawing. Is there a flat surface near the top of the tank to attach an additional bulkhead for the circulation/mixing plumbing? How much space will you have above the saltwater tank to be able to add the salt into the opening? You're going to be doing this frequently, so be sure to have enough working room.
  22. Mine is pretty stable. Usually no more than about 0.10 dKH swing per day.
