  1. Welcome! I love your rockscape. Looking forward to seeing your tank progress.
  2. Welcome! You'll be right at home here, since many of us are also OCD! If you're looking for fish with personality, you might want to consider a Blenny. They're small and peaceful with other fish. Here's my Tailspot: I wouldn't recommend a Mandarin until you have a larger, mature tank. Most Mandarins only eat live pods, so it's best to have a self-sustaining population of pods. Very few ever adapt to eating frozen foods. I have one Mandarin in my 88 gallon tank, and it consumes the pods about as fast as they reproduce.
  3. This is the model from the photo above: https://www.tanksforless.com/p/2157/ace-roto-mold-55-gallon-portable-utility-tanks-a-sp0055-mm They're 18 in. L x 18 in. W x 44 in. H
  4. Any of the vertical tanks are difficult to clean. I'm actually cleaning my 75 gallon mixing tank today, and do this every 6 months. I take it out in the driveway and use a garden hose and long handled mop to wipe all the sediment that builds up on the bottom and walls. Then I rinse it with RO/DI and put it back in service. Just be sure you install unions to make it easy to disconnect the plumbing for maintenance.
  5. Also see this post from @obrien.david.j about ordering direct for local pickup.
  6. Have you looked for the square Norwesco containers, like this: You might want to call Green Concepts in Gresham to see if they carry square containers. I know they have a huge selection of round ones, but they might have square. See https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bfd/d/portland-norwesco-tanks-super-store/7013043589.html
  7. Bump. I'm seeing more and more Apex Classic owners posting on R2R and Facebook about random reboot problems. The 4.53_4D19 firmware released in August resolves this issue, so I just want all of you Apex Classic owners to be aware. Please update your Classic with this version: https://www.neptunesystems.com/firmware
  8. Now I need to figure out if this is reef safe: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1014565-REG/dgk_color_tools_wdkk_bubble_bag_1.html
  9. Saw this at R2R today. I need this algorithm! (or at least a color chart)
  10. I haven't personally used a Vortech, so I can't compare. Here's what I like about the Gyre: Moves a lot of water is a wide swath rather than a narrow central stream You can angle the right side and left side different directions You can run it in forward or reverse. Mine alternates between forward and reverse every 10 seconds. Quiet operation Very easy to disassemble and clean
  11. I have two Maxspect Gyre XF-230's controlled by my Apex using the IceCap Gyre module. You can purchase the Gyre pumps without the standard controller, then add the IceCap so the Apex controls it. The advantage is I can integrate the Gyre's into my Feed Mode programming, and my in-cabinet control box to turn off everything with a single button. Let me know if you want more detail. All of this was covered a couple weeks ago when I was interviewed by Terence for Neptune's #ControlFreakWednesday video.
  12. Nice setup! Welcome aboard. 😀
  13. My rose bubble tip anemone recently split, but I don't have room for two in my tank. It's about 4" diameter and healthy. Asking $25. You pick up in Beaverton, or I'll meet you at Cuttlefish.
  14. No problem. I hope your email inbox doesn't blow up from all the notifications you just enabled! See you Sunday.
  15. Yes, the "Notification List" option is what causes them to display under the bell icon:
  16. @Gil&Fin The "Browser Notifications" allows your web browser to pop up a little bubble and make a chime sound when you have your browser open, even if you're busy viewing a different website in another tab. It has no impact on emails or the little bell icon at the top of the PNWMAS site. If you want emails, just toggle the buttons for the items you're interested in:
  17. Holly, you can enable Email notifications for all sorts of things under your Notification Settings:
  18. My wife got everything moved into the new tank. Fits nicely in her office. Now she needs a few more fish! Here was a side by side with her old tank. It took a couple days for the water to clear up from the new substrate.
  19. Maybe a little saltwater soak would do your thumb some good...🤣
