  1. Was thinking of trying fritz, I can't get Salinity where I moved too and they don't allow internet sales on it. But I've read a lot of bad reviews of it. May switch back to reef crystals.
  2. Has anyone else been told eheim has discontinued the Jager heaters? I've been told that twice now. One by a local shop and one by an internet seller when I tried to order an extra 100watt.
  3. Didn't know they used dynamite. Cyanide was what I was thinking. That can't be good considering the amount of loss they see before even reaching the shore
  4. I bet divers and commercial do more damage to reefs than anything else. Look at the great barrier reef, Cruise lines get away with dumping sewage overboard. What kind of damage is done when harvesting corals and fish?
  5. How do I pump it through the di cartridges slow enough to have dwell time?
  6. I have a small piece of red planet. You are welcome to it. I'll be around Saturday and early Sunday if you can come grab it.
  7. I've had my Wyoming White's hatch just before lights out. Got to see them swimming all over. Was cool, and sad.
  8. I'm sure this has been asked and answered. I moved/am moving to Idaho. The city water comes from a well field. My spectrapure 180gpd 5 stage unit says it's running roughly 100ppm into the ro. I'm getting 0 ppm out, before di. I have the booster pump too, from BRS, but it takes tap pressure that's 45psi and boosts it to only 60. Seems low. Now, spectrapure says to test co2 before using di resin, I did with their kit but the sample remains clear after adding 150 plus drops. I assume high co2. Is anyone else on well and have issues with co2? Best way to deal with it?
  9. Any chance the serial numbers are close on all the dead lights? Wonder if their supplier gave a bad batch of parts. We're the fans running? On another note, them sending you a bad replacement unit right out of the box is a very good reason to not support them as a company at all.
  10. They have what you need there. I got my 275 gallon food grade totes for my garden there. Plus my 15 gallon buckets for mixed salt. Huge selection.
  11. I've got a few sps you can frag. My Cali tort is too big and I am moving out of state. Maybe a hammer or candy cane. They have been through a lot so should be tough. I can't keep the Cali frags attached to plugs so I can just break you off a big chunk if you like.
  12. Are these still made with the cheap particle board and flimsy hardware or is it finished plywood?
  13. Appears they know how to package for shipping, that's for sure. Only way to do better is a full on crate. Wish all shippers did that well. Amazing sump too
  14. This little puppy loves the snow too, so he'll enjoy it
  15. Girlfriend and I are leaving Oregon's awesomeness too. Heading to the Hayden area. Love all the lakes and mountains. Love being that much closer to Glacier, Yellowstone, tetons. Born and raised in Portland, most of my family is here too. But we've had enough. The dictators in charge of the state finally ran us out with seeing where taxes are headed. And not being safe in our own home due to the drug addicts and homeless which the leaders won't deal with. No traffic doesn't hurt, and being 5 minutes from work instead of an hour each way doesn't hurt either. Also the fact I can buy 20 acres for around the same price I paid for .5 here is nice.
  16. Are the styrofoam coolers going to leak if directly filled with water?
  17. Very few things I hate more than thieves.
  18. You must be heading where I am, safe haven, lol. My trip is only longer as I do it with my 02 Tahoe (220k miles) pulling a 7x16 enclosed. The trip tonight was all my empty tanks/stands and my 2500lbs tool box and a bunch of other stuff. Probably 4k in trailer plus my 350, 60 cube, 170, TV, and other stuff in back of Tahoe. Pulled ok with no weight distribution hitch. Couldn't do more than 65 without killing mileage/high revs. If you do the open tote, grab some Saran wrap and wrap the top up to help slosh. I was kinda thinking the same idea.
  19. I was talking to one store owner that said eventually they will start killing each other or injuring each other when they start finding mates or changing sexes. I would love to have a tank with a couple dozen clowns and several breeds.
  20. I only mentioned the compressed oxygen as one local store uses that when they bag their fish. Maybe I'm over thinking it.
  21. Question on the coolers. Are they safe to just put saltwater and rocks directly in? Do chemicals leach out of the plastic? Do I rinse them with vinegar or anything before use? Thinking of 4-6 of the Coleman 48 quart white ones. Cabela's has them on sale or Walmart has the cheap ones also. Im using coolers to keep temp from dropping too much on the drive. Buckets would just be cold and I worry about die off on the rocks that way. Maybe it's a non issue. I am ordering a spectrapure megamax cap 5 stage and extra pre filters and di resin. Also getting the booster pump. That cost adds up quick. I may have to build a degassing setup though after talking to spectrapure since co2 can kill di resin.
  22. I will be bagging everything and buying some of those coleman 7 day coolers to move stuff so it stays warm on the drive. I don't think I could keep buckets warm enough for a 7 hour drive. I've got a source for large fish bags, I can't find anything large enough for the rock though. Another question. How do I aerate the water while moving them? Do I not worry about it? Do I get an oxygen tank to blow up the bags before rubber banding them? Is welding oxygen good enough or medical grade? What about those heat packets places like wwc use when they ship stuff, where do I get those? How do I acclimate my rock to new tanks, in a bucket one at a time with a drip. Then transfer right into tank? Then wait a few hours for fish, inverts, corals. Maybe biospira after adding rocks before livestock.
  23. Moving the tanks will pretty much be last thing to empty house. Will come back the following weekend to move bed/TV of girlfriend and kid. When moving the livestock starts that's it for that weekend, since it's a 7-8 hour drive one way
  24. Thank you Exodus. Just a clarification. I set up the trough with fresh salt, heater, skimmer, power head. Have 2 second tanks ready to go as I don't want to cross contaminate the two nano systems. Put each respective livestock and rock into each tank and slowly add the fresh trough saltwater to them. Then move all livestock to the trough? Is that wrong? I plan on taking my reefer 350 and 170 this week. Will set them up then next week add the new saltwater or? I can take trough too. I will be in house full time on the 7th so I can cycle those tanks and trough. The 350 will be up temporarily till my gf gets her nano up there, my nano is moving up to the 170. Maybe I'm not following correctly. I am a diesel mechanic after all. I do have 2 150 troughs but one was used for outdoor water storage. I can buy another if needed.
