  1. Call first. I remember the airgas on 82nd almost always out of stock or 1 on hand.
  2. Some hydroponic stores do. I know the one on Halsey or division and 181st does
  3. I've not see a standard refractometer that wants a calibration with rodi. It's normally 35ppt calibration fluid.
  4. Share the love What a great gesture to offer members
  5. Up for sale is a rbta. I think it's 2 or 3 weeks old from the split. Probably 4+ inches across if not more. It's the split and not the original. I think I can get it out and bring it with me Friday night. Must meet Saturday am in SE Portland, prefer at my house off 162nd and powell. Please no flakes, I can get credit trade in at a local shop where I got rid of my last one but prefer cash. $50
  6. See my post in other thread. I forgot to mention I dosed my tanks with prime before starting the process and added a drop or two to the fish bags. With the weather I don't think hand warmers will do anything but hurt
  7. I just moved from Portland to Hayden Idaho. I purchased Coleman marine coolers and some of those orange drinking water coolers and saltwater in big buckets. I was able to set up one tank before hand minus rock and sand. This tank got my girlfriends nuvo 20 contents. Bagged coral with half/half old/new water. Put them in one cooler preheated with towels from the dryer. Next I did same with fish except they went in the orange drinking water coolers. Then filled one cooler half with heated old/new saltwater, and put live rock in those. Left about 2 hours later and it was an 8 hour drive( pulling a 16 foot enclosed behind my Tahoe). Gloat acclimated and water acclimated. No losses there. My tank was the following weekend except I moved my tank at the same time with mostly new saltwater and what was in coral/fish bags. All sand was tossed, I meant to keep some but don't know what happened. Both tanks are bare bottom now. I ran into my tahoe overheating with my tank move so that added to the commute time. Was over 100 degrees from the Dalles to spokane. I did lose a few sps but not nearly the loss I was expecting.
  8. I don't understand how it's still wobbly. It's 100 gallons almost. Probably 1000lbs on a few contact points, how is the carpet/pad not completely compressed? I think I'm going to try to wedge blocks under the stand then slowly lower the adjustment legs till it's level and supported partially by the blocks.
  9. Any way to eliminate the wobble of the tank when it's on carpet? If it wasn't a rental I'd cut it out. The tank is leveled on all feet in all directions. But it wobbles pretty good when you push on it lightly. I put a post Jack and 4x6 across the joists under the tank in the laundry room which helped eliminate wobble when walking past it. Another reason to hate carpet.
  10. They stay small? I'd also be interested since my rbta keeps getting too big and splitting. Do clowns host them?
  11. I usually go to CBs on the east side. Not much for coral but he actually has stuff on the shelf besides food and I've had the best luck with his fish living vs other stores I've purchased from. He can order just about anything any other store can too.
  12. I was buying premixed in 5 gallon buckets and dumping in my larger bucket. Now I mix my own in a 35 gallon brute over like an hour slowly pouring a half cup at a time and moving the power head around to mix the salt that settles on the bottom before adding more.
  13. I must be doing something wrong. I have 16 gallon barrels I use and have to clean them every month or so or they develop sludge on the bottom and start to stink
  14. How do you clean the build up or slime that occurs in the salt mixing tanks?
  15. Reefer is mostly up. Still letting the stand adjust to the carpet before filling the rest of the way. I put adjustable legs where each little foot was so it can sit level on uneven floors, like carpet. Tossed some rock in and left space to move the rock from my Max nano into it also to avoid a cycle. I'm not good at making fancy rockwork so I just made it steady.
  16. If you are smart enough, college can be down right cheap. It's when you have to have the "college" experience, not work, and do ALL your classes at a high end school that it becomes expensive. That all depends on what you are going for. My dad did a masters of mechanical engineering from psu in 2 years, with no debt, while raising a family with 3 kids. It can be done but requires some type of brains beforehand.
  17. Aquavitro fuel, and other aquavitro products, can be found at CBs and obsessions. If anyone is wondering. Question for those that have had good results. Do you run ultra low nutrient systems? Wondering if that's why I saw no difference, and maybe some negative. Maybe my RS a+b was no good. I kept it in fridge since opening. One is neon green in color, the other seems to have little flakes/chunks in it, normal?
  18. Both tanks moved. Only lost 2 sps in my tank, one from bicycle bill, the other was my red planet. Well 2 of my red planets. Although a green Monti isn't looking too hot. My rbta split a few days later. My tail spot is attacking my watchman goby. Hopefully have the 350 up this week to move all my stuff, including rock, over. Girlfriend moved into a 170 I picked up. Everything seems to be doing great there. No losses
  19. I tried using red sea a+b and saw no effect except maybe more tank pollution. Besides a few corals that didn't make the move, my 100% water change plus removing the sand and shaking rocks out, had the most effect.
  20. Just so you know, the house market is way way down from last year. It's slowly coming back but not there. Not sure when you bought so you may do ok but it's not currently a seller's market in Portland. On another note, what kind of hawkfish and how big?
  21. That's interesting, the hawk in my back yard would chase the other birds off. It didn't care if they squawked at it. Once my fruit trees went in it left since no open hunting grounds, then the crows moved in, and the starlings. I hate starlings.
