  1. If anyone is trying to come up with a reef-themed costume idea, this is a good one:
  2. Ah, now I finally see what you're doing. I didn't realize the new tank would be perpendicular to the old tank's location. Love to see all this progress!
  3. Tailspots are great! I love mine. You should consider getting a clip-on orange filter so your photos aren't washed out with blue. See my review here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/smartphone-camera-filter-comparison.634162/
  4. In the past the PNWMAS forums website was always reported in web browsers as "Not Secure" since it was not using encrypted browsing (using HTTP instead of HTTPS). Thanks to @TheClark, we are now using encryption, so the site is now reported as Secure:
  5. I see them most frequently at night on the glass. Tonight I removed 14 of them.
  6. That's great to hear, Jeff! Please post to let us all know when you have them in stock.
  7. This star is cleverly disguised as a fighter jet. 🤣
  8. Apparently many vendors had it in stock this morning, but by the time I heard about it and ordered, then posted here, they sold out. But it's a good sign that Neptune is at least sending them out again. This is the first shipment since March.
  9. Get it while it lasts: https://premiumaquatics.com/products/neptune-trident-sixmonth-reagent-kit.html
  10. Unfortunately the Tapatalk plugin is incompatible with the current version of the PNWMAS IPB forum software and causes the whole site to crash, so we had to disable Tapatalk for now. Until either Tapatalk releases a new plugin, or IPB releases a new update, there's nothing we can do. This is not limited to PNWMAS. I have seen complaints from Tapatalk users of forums related to cars, gaming, woodworking, and many others. It's a wide-spread problem.
  11. I am not able to access it through Tapatalk either. @TheClark or @Chief, any ideas? I looked at the Admin console to confirm the Tapatalk feature is enabled. Not sure what else to check. The whole site has been acting strangely since yesterday: multiple duplicate posts unable to "like" a certain post this morning the whole site appeared to be down briefly, only showing an error about the site config file unable to delete a duplicate Classified ad posts not showing accurate stats on number of replies Tapatalk non-functional
  12. Did you follow the steps listed under the section titled "Emergency firmware update procedure (Bootloader ready on LCD)" found here? https://pacific-sun.eu/firmware_update/
  13. What lens and camera are you using?
  14. Be aware the pH and ORP probes must never be stored dry or they will be ruined. If you remove them from your tank, wrap the tips in a plastic baggie full of saltwater and a rubber band to keep the probe tips wet.
  15. What are you trying to catch with the gray PVC pipes?
  16. @danlu_gt Do your ReeFi's have a pre-set Aiptasia profile like you have for SPS, LPS, etc.? 🤣
  17. Happy birthday, and thank you for being such an active and valuable member of the club!
  18. Yes, the wrasse will be a problem. The first time I had an aiptasia outbreak I used a dozen nudibranchs and they cleared it up in a few months. But then a year later I had another outbreak, but this time I had a wrasse in the tank and it picked off the new nudibranchs I ordered pretty quickly. I ended up getting a pair of peppermint shrimp from a local reefer so I knew the shrimp had a proven track record of eating aiptasia. My tank is mixed SPS & LPS, and the shrimp have not damaged any of my corals, but they have done an excellent job keeping the aiptasia under control, even faster than the nudibranchs ever did. I feed my fish LRS Reef Frenzy frozen food, and the shrimp will always grab a few bites each day, so I think that's partially why they don't bother the soft corals or LPS.
  19. How large is your tank? Unless it is a nano tank, you'll need more than two nudibranchs to successfully hunt and breed. My tank is 90 gallons and I needed at least a dozen nudibranchs to have an impact on a moderate aiptasia infestation. It took them 2 to 3 months to clear it up.
  20. Yes, that's the exact same sound mine makes. You're just hearing the water rush through unrestricted. Completely normal.
  21. @sroberts Here's the link to my mixing station build, with a complete parts list: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/suncrestreefs-red-sea-reefer-xl-425-build.358990/post-6173194 (click each photo to expand the view)
  22. Back before COVID when we used to host frequent large parties at our house, I'd always notice a big drop in pH. The graph below was from our Xmas party last December where we had about 45 people in the house with all the windows closed. Even with the skimmer running, the pH dropped rapidly:
  23. I use my autofeeder when I'm out of town (which is rare these days), and I use Piscine Energetics Mysis 2mm pellets. I discovered PE pellets at the July 2019 PNWMAS meeting at All Things Aquarium where Colby from Piscine Energetics gave a talk about their Mysis foods. I can't find any specifics on their website that mentions the phosphate levels, but I do recall from his talk how they process the pellets to reduce residual nutrients. You should read how they got started by mistake after the Canadian government implemented a failed attempt to improve fish stock levels in regional lakes by introducing Mysis shrimp. My fish seem to love the pellets, and when I return home from trips I haven't found any unusual PO4 problems.
  24. Sorry I couldn't work it out on the first try. I'm still new to my Admin role and figuring out all the nitty-gritty details.
