  1. The vast majority of PNWMAS members I've met both online and in person have been very friendly, passionate about the hobby, and generally very nice people. We have a great group of people here. I nominate @obrien.david.j. He was extremely generous with his time and knowledge in helping me plan my sump replacement project. Great idea, @Manny Tavan!
  2. Welcome to the club! Glad you found us. There's a lot of great information here, and lots of fellow reefers of all different skill/experience levels, so feel free to ask questions or use the Search feature at the top. And we love photos, so post some of your tank when you have a chance!
  3. @pdxmonkeyboy Just curious, did you ever put that laser to work?
  4. Neptune's AFS is pretty loud, but has worked fine for me when I'm out of town, so I don't care how loud it is. I haven't tried the Plank, but I believe @obrien.david.j has one.
  5. I miss my old meteor shower cyphastrea:
  6. I've seen some old posts that PNWMAS may have owned a video projector in the past. Is anyone aware of who currently has this projector, and if it's still functional? I'm posting this in the General forum in case any former Officers or Board members have any knowledge on this. Thanks.
  7. @Taylorhardy1 Here are a few of the fine members of our community that you might want to consider issuing an apology for calling them "garbage": half-astronaut replied to Vph2014's topic in Want to Buy / Trade @ Taylorhardy1 had a 120 for sale recently. Might still have it. xmas_one posted a topic in Member/Vendor Feedback Taylor hooked me up real nice on some nice pieces from the following thread: Super nice guy, good communication, thanks! Gil&Fin replied to Gil&Fin's topic in Classified Threads ...Taylor @ Taylorhardy1! It was great to see you and meet your brother. I forgot to tell you...the one in the upper left hand corner is a JF Lunar Lepto. One of the most unique leptos I've seen. Just wait till you see it under the lights--low to medium. You'll see what I mean. : ) Holly Mobile mechanic needed Blue Z Reef replied to badguitarist's topic in Out of Bounds You are looking for @ Taylorhardy1 πŸ‘ Shout to Taylor! Oregonic replied to CuttleFishandCoral's topic in Member/Vendor Feedback Just shot you a dm @ Taylorhardy1 Nominations for PNWMAS Treasurer Chief replied to Chief's topic in PNWMAS Members Forum ...@ Taylorhardy1 youcallmenny replied to Taylorhardy1's topic in Classified Threads Hey @ Taylorhardy1, just wanted to let you know that the Spath frag I got is coloring right up and putting on it's highlights already. Free bump because this colony should get shared around for sure. Cyano? Dinos? Or something else? albertareef replied to Oregonic's topic in General Discussion ...What do you think Brian @pdxmonkeyboy and Taylor @ Taylorhardy1 ? Would this seem to fit with your experience? I know you both have done some deep digging in the area. If we are nitrogen limited we are more likely to grow cyanobacteria. We can either reduce the phosphates available to reduce... Automotive Gurus Zoolander replied to ChrisQ's topic in Out of Bounds Me or @ Taylorhardy1 could probably be of assistance. How to raise nitrates...a tad Exodus replied to Optimusprime3605's topic in Reef Chemistry ...Also as @ Taylorhardy1 mentioned phytoplankton that is also a great way to raise nitrates, but if you go that route use it to your advantage and dump a bunch of pods in your tank What are your other hobbies? albertareef replied to Taylorhardy1's topic in Out of Bounds ...@ Taylorhardy1 in addition to the B5 S4 Avant that you know I have, I used to have two different second gen RX7s - one GXL coupe and a convertible.
  8. Sorry to hear about your negative experiences, but I think it's just luck of the draw. I've been in the hobby now for about 3 years and 99% of my interactions with fellow PNWMAS members have been excellent, so I think calling our entire community "garbage" is a stretch. I just recently hosted our latest monthly meeting/BBQ at my house, and every single person who attended was friendly, cheerful, and generous towards me and each other. And this has been true for all of the meetings I have attended. If your only interactions with fellow reefers has been via classified ads, I think that alone will skew the type of relationships you will have. I can say my experience on Craigslist, Ebay, and other classifieds have been less than stellar. I wish you better luck in your future reefing efforts.

    Stick pics!

Nice shots! What camera are you using now?
  10. I published another article in my Apex tutorial series over at Reef2Reef. This one covers the Apex System View. Take a look: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/apex-system-view.818/
  11. Glad to see you kept the pH and ORP probes wet with the caps! Most used Apex's come with dried out probes that likely are dead. If you haven't done so yet, follow the steps in this FAQ to reset the Apex to factory defaults and remove it from your Fusion account so the new owner will have an easier time setting it up: https://forum.neptunesystems.com/showthread.php?7399-Transfering-an-Apex-To-or-From-Someone-Else GLWS.
  12. This is what I do: Fallback OFF If Tmp < 77.8 Then ON If Tmp > 78.0 Then OFF Defer 001:00 Then ON Defer 000:15 Then OFF Both Defer and Min Time would work, though Min Time leads to shorter delays since it includes "time served". For example, if the heater is on for 30 seconds and the temperature reaches the limit, Defer 001:00 would cause it to stay on for for 1:30 total time, but Min Time 001:00 would only keep it on for 1 minute total including the 30 seconds it was already on. Depending on your heater rating, 2 minutes could cause bigger swings than you’d like. You should contact Neptune Support about the graph issue. They recently updated the Fusion back end, so perhaps they introduced a new bug.
  13. I see the same missing data issue that you reported. However, I also noticed a brief popup window saying there's too much data to display. This warning disappears after about 3 seconds. Did you see it on your screen? I've never seen this warning before, and not sure why there would be too many entries. What is your Data Log value set to on the Misc Setup screen? (I can't access that with View-only permissions).
  14. I'm unable to reproduce the problem on my Apex. I see all the data points and scrolling doesn't cause any problems. Would you like me to test yours from my Fusion dashboard? Just grant my SuncrestReef account "View" permissions under the Authorization screen.
  15. Looks great! Glad you made it to the meeting.
  16. That seems very odd, since when saltwater evaporates only the water portion becomes vapor, and the salt is left behind in your tank. "Salt creep" is not from evaporation, but rather from saltwater splashing or bubbles popping and spraying the saltwater onto another surface. Near the ocean, wind lifts small water droplets containing salt from the waves and evaporation of these droplets leaves salt aerosols in air. But without any wind, salt cannot become airborne.
  17. I'm trying to track down the owner of this oven pan left behind at my house after Saturday's BBQ meeting. I'll trade it for a copy of your delicious spicy rice recipe!
  18. Someone also left behind a zoa frag floating in my QT tank. If it was yours and you want it back, let me know. Otherwise it will find a nice home in my tank.
  19. Who brought the delicious rice dish to the meeting? You left behind your baking pan:
  20. Thank you all for attending the BBQ/Meeting! That was a lot of fun, and it was great to see some human faces again. Congrats to all the raffle winners. For those of you who sat through my Apex demo, here's a link to my Apex tutorials I mentioned: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/authors/suncrestreef.93940/ Whoever won the Apex-EL, if you need any assistance setting it up, let me know.
  21. Today's the day! For those of you planning to stay the whole duration of the meeting, please try to squeeze as many cars into my driveway as possible to leave more space on the street for additional parking. My driveway will fit up to 9 cars when using the space next to my garage. If you do park on the street, please only park across the street from my house so drivers will still be able to pass in both directions. The street has drainage ditches on both sides, but the one on my side is deep and not as easy to park next to. Thanks! @GumdropDan@islandVib3s@markv@CuttleFishandCoral @Dakotapi3rc3 @Smiles @obrien.david.j @Higher Thinking @Gil&Fin @Hincapiej4 @kjlife @Lexinverts @Collin @Cobalt @Tandor69 @OregonGrownReef @Bicyclebill @wayboi @Algaewarrior @half-astronaut @Blue_collar_fish_keepers @Emerald525 @fishoutawater @Shar_Zard @Webfoot
  22. For those of you planning to attend the meeting, should I set up a small frag tank in case anyone is planning to bring some frags to trade? I have a 20g long QT tank I could set up to float some bags. Also, in case you didn't see my other post, be sure to bring a mask to wear while inside the house to help keep everyone safe:
  23. When we decided in early July to hold our first in-person PNWMAS meeting this August after 18 months of isolation, the rate of COVID infections had dropped significantly due to vaccinations, social distancing, and masks. But since that decision, the rate of new infections has increased dramatically due to the Delta variant with over 15 times the daily infection rate in Oregon from a month ago. While the risk of infection among vaccinated individuals remains low, there have been many documented cases of breakthrough infections, and it’s known that vaccinated individuals can still spread the virus to unvaccinated individuals. Though PNWMAS is not going to require proof of vaccination to attend the meeting, I, as the host of this meeting opening up my home, respectfully ask everyone attending to wear a mask while indoors, and to enjoy eating and drinking outdoors without masks on my spacious deck and 1 acre yard where the risk of infection will be much lower. I just personally would be devastated to hear that our meeting caused anyone to get infected, or for our meeting to become a super-spreader event. I'm looking forward to hosting this meeting and finally seeing everyone in person again, but I just want everyone to be safe and feel comfortable attending. Please wear a mask to protect everyone in attendance. I’m hoping the infection rate will drop again soon so our future meetings will be more relaxed and back to β€œnormal”.
  24. 68 F and cool mist blowing off the ocean at Manzanita!
