  1. Thanks to all who joined us for today's meeting, both in person and on Zoom. I really enjoyed Lou's presentation and think it worked out well. And a big Thank You to Sirena for the delicious food, and Kim for organizing! It was great seeing everyone again. Happy reefing!
  2. Here's the link for the Zoom meeting: Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82353365565 (please connect in around 12:45pm for the 1:00pm presentation.)
  3. Yes, you can daisy-chain using the AquaBus cable, but not with the 1Link cable. Each DOS will need its own 24v power adapter.
  4. The DOS only requires an available AquaBus port or 1Link port. The DDR connects directly to the DOS. Neither one requires a breakout box.
  5. I'm glad to hear you got it working, but what you described doesn't make sense. Was it ever accessible from the Fusion connection or the Apex.Local connection before you started over?
  6. RSVP: If you plan to attend in person, please comment below with the number of people in your party so Sirena can plan for the amount of food.
  7. Compared to most of you, I'm still a newby. I started my tank in February 2018 after promising my wife an aquarium about 5 years earlier because her Ph.D was in fish behavior. But at that time I was too busy with running my company and working 80 hour weeks, so I kept putting it off. Once I retired at the end of 2017, I started doing my research and pulled the trigger a few months later. It turned into a passion for me, but my wife rarely ever looks at it. 🤣
  8. When you won on December 3rd, 2020, @Emerald525 posted for you to coordinate with her on which store you wanted the gift certificate for. Did you ever reach out back then?
  9. The most common cause of this problem is a failed power brick. If you have a multimeter, test the power adapter to see if it's delivering 24 volts. I'm currently on my 3rd power supply for my COR20. Neptune replaced the adapter under warranty each time. Open a ticket with Neptune Support: https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/
  10. You'd typically need a pretty big UPS to keep lights, pumps, skimmer, and/or heaters running for long on battery power. Instead, it's best to have the Apex turn off any high-powered devices during a power failure to preserve the battery life as long as possible for water movement. I wrote a whole section on how to do this in my tutorial on Apex Power Monitoring: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/neptune-apex-programming-tutorials-part-4-power-monitoring.698/ (scroll down about 3/4 to the bottom of this page for the instructions)
  11. Check out this police bust in North Plains. Massive grow operation with tons of lighting and irrigation (see 0:30 into the video) . I wonder if they used an Apex to control it all? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  12. Have you tried accessing Fusion from a web browser instead of the app? https://apexfusion.com If you pressed the reset button for over 30 seconds, that would have reset the Apex to factory defaults, breaking the link to Fusion. If that’s the case, you just need to re-link it from the Apex.local dashboard.
  13. @Parzifal Sorry I didn't see your post until just now. Are you still having issues? Questions: 1. Is your Apex normally connected via WiFi, or a network cable? 2. What color is the Neptune logo on the Apex?
  14. Great! We'll forward your questions along to Lou in advance of the presentation.
  15. Join us in person or virtually through Zoom for our next PNWMAS meeting on October 23rd. Lou Ekus, the CEO of Tropic Marin USA will do a video presentation on reef chemistry and carbon dosing followed by Q & A. For those who can attend in person, the presentation will be shown inside Emerald525’s huge and spacious shop building, and we’ll have Octoberfest-themed food from chef Sirena and beverages available on her covered outdoor deck. Both spaces provide ample room for social distancing, but masks will be required when indoors. We will have several chairs available for the presentation, but if you have a folding chair, feel free to bring it to guarantee you will have a seat. We’ll also have several sponsor gift certificate giveaways in addition to some Tropic Marin prizes provided by Lou. For those who cannot participate in person, please join us through Zoom for Lou’s presentation, Q & A, and the giveaways. Here are the details: When: October 23rd, 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm What: Chef Sirena providing Octoberfest-themed food and beverages. Gift certificate giveaways and prizes from Tropic Marin Presentation: 1:00-2:00 pm Reef Chemistry and Carbon Dosing talk, followed by Q & A Where: 7501 SE 152nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97236 (Map) What to bring: A mask, and optional folding chair Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82353365565 (please connect in around 12:45pm for the 1:00pm presentation.) RSVP: If you plan to attend in person, please comment below with the number of people in your party so Sirena can plan for the amount of food.
  16. Keep in mind there are vibrations as the pump runs, as the manifold clicks into different positions, and as it stirs the reaction chamber. All those vibrations can cause small movements over time until a tube pops off.
  17. Thanks for that tip. I was able to get 2 boxes.
  18. I get most of my fittings from PVCFittingsOnline. Not sure if these are Spears or not; they don't specify: https://www.pvcfittingsonline.com/fittings/schedule-80-pvc/unions.html?size_in_inches=38
  19. Yes, I've been a snooker fan for years, but it's so hard to find snooker tables at most billiards halls (one at Sam's in the Hollywood district, and one at McMenamins Edgefield), but then with the lockdown I wasn't playing at all.
  20. The new addition is on indefinite hold, but I didn't want to wait that long for a billiards table. But with my recently-rebuilt tank, the larger one can wait.
  21. I now have a good way to pass the time while waiting for my saltwater to mix up.
  22. The vast majority of PNWMAS members I've met both online and in person have been very friendly, passionate about the hobby, and generally very nice people. We have a great group of people here. I nominate @obrien.david.j. He was extremely generous with his time and knowledge in helping me plan my sump replacement project. Great idea, @Manny Tavan!
  23. Welcome to the club! Glad you found us. There's a lot of great information here, and lots of fellow reefers of all different skill/experience levels, so feel free to ask questions or use the Search feature at the top. And we love photos, so post some of your tank when you have a chance!
  24. @pdxmonkeyboy Just curious, did you ever put that laser to work?
  25. Neptune's AFS is pretty loud, but has worked fine for me when I'm out of town, so I don't care how loud it is. I haven't tried the Plank, but I believe @obrien.david.j has one.
