  1. Many people bring frags to swap at these events. @Emerald525 can you clarify if you will have a tank where people could float their bagged frags during the meeting?
  2. We have a real competition going now!!!
  3. I can't argue with that logic. 🌮 🌮 🌮 👍
  4. My first instinct was to vote for tacos, but then I realized we'll only be a month before Cinco de Mayo, so maybe we should reserve that option just in case we arrange another fun event in May! I vote burger bar.
  5. FYI, we have about 4,000 forum members. So maybe double that just in case...🤣
  6. Join us in person or virtually through Zoom for our next PNWMAS meeting on April 2nd. Eli Meyer, the owner and founder of AquaBiomics will do a presentation on microbiome analysis for aquariums and aquaculture. For those who can attend in person, the presentation will be held inside Emerald525’s huge and spacious shop building, and we’ll have food from chef Sirena and beverages available on her covered outdoor deck. Both spaces provide ample room for social distancing, and masks are optional. We will have several chairs available for the presentation, but if you have a folding chair, feel free to bring it to guarantee you will have a seat. We’ll also have several AquaBiomics gift certificate giveaways in addition to some Tropic Marin prizes from our last meeting. For those who cannot participate in person, we'll post a Zoom link the day of the meeting. Here are the details: When: April 2nd, 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm What: Chef Sirena providing food and beverages. Gift certificate giveaways and prizes from Tropic Marin Presentation: 1:00-2:00 pm Microbiome analysis presentation, followed by Q & A Where: 7501 SE 152nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97236 (Map) What to bring: Optional folding chair, and optional mask Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/97302937516?pwd=Z0VIcTBKNnJDSVpuYXJaOERoQVNzQT09 Meeting ID: 973 0293 7516 Passcode: 779974 RSVP: If you plan to attend in person, please comment below with the number of people in your party so Sirena can plan for the amount of food. Also, if you're attending in person, please vote on your choice of food options:
  7. If you suspect the AOS update caused the problem, please open a ticket with Neptune Support. If many people are reporting the same thing, then that will help identify the issue. So far I have not seen any wide-spread reports of this problem. https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/
  8. Last year I had a temperature probe go bad after 3 years, and it showed the same high readings like yours. I now run two of them for redundancy.
  9. Good job moving that large rock without breaking off any corals! I'm sure that wasn't a fun exercise.
  10. I know Pacific Watersports in Aloha sells used gear, but not sure if they buy used gear. Maybe give them a call. http://www.pacifich2osports.com/
  11. No problems at all. I'm one of Neptune's NSI testers, so I've been running this latest update for several weeks before it was released to the public. No problems found. For those interested, here are the release notes listing the changes: https://forum.neptunesystems.com/showthread.php?32347-AOS-5-06_2B22-has-been-released
  12. Brilliant! Now I want an Infinity Pool tank in my Reefer XL 425. 🤣
  13. Please check your inbox. I sent you a PM to ask which store you'd like.
  14. The EB8 is compatible with every model of Apex base unit, from the old Apex Jr. and Apex Classic, to the latest Apex 2016 and Apex-EL. See my Apex Hardware Overview article for the complete list of Apex modules and compatibility: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/apex-hardware-overview.775/
  15. So the marketing material is very vague. Is it basically just a laser? If so, what wavelength is "UV-C", and how many watts? My aiptasia laser is 450nm (blue) and runs at 4000 mW. It kills things within about 10 seconds of direct exposure, and the battery lasts about 5-10 minutes of continuous use. But the main problem is that it requires direct line of sight, so probably about 75% of aiptasia or other pests are inaccessible in a typical tank. While I found it fun and gratifying to zap the pests (you even hear it crackling as the target burns up underwater), it was definitely not a cure. I finally had 100% success using a combination of berghia, peppermint shrimp, and a voracious file fish.
  16. Winners were announced in this thread: Congrats!
  17. Happy Reefing Valentine's Day! Here are the randomly selected winners for our 2nd annual For the Love of Reefing raffle: @Paratore @WestSideReefer @Lifer Congratulations! Each of you have won a $100 gift certificate to the LFS of your choice. I will send you each a PM to coordinate which store you'd like. There were 129 Supporting Members eligible for this raffle. Thank you all for your continued support! Happy reefing 🙂
  18. I agree! It was a nail-biter.
  19. Bump... There's still time left to qualify for tomorrow's raffle by becoming a Supporting Member. You have until midnight tonight to sign up, and then raffle winners will be announced tomorrow at noon!
  20. How many of you plan to watch the Super Bowl today? If so, who are you rooting for? Since I'm originally from Detroit, I'm rooting for the Rams with their former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
  21. We currently have 124 Supporting Members eligible for the raffle out of a total of 4,192 forum members, though many of those are dormant accounts.
  22. Thanks for signing up! FYI, last fiscal year (June 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021) PNWMAS gave away $4,405 worth of raffle prizes. A $24 Individual or $30 Family membership has pretty good odds of paying off in prizes! EDIT: To clarify, some raffles are open to all members of PNWMAS (not just paying Supporting Members) through the sales of raffle tickets, while other raffles like this "For the Love of Reefing" raffle are limited to paid Supporting Members. So not all $4,405 worth of prizes went to paying members. I just wanted to make that clear...
  23. Looking through our Supporting Members list, I found there are only six people with memberships expiring before the end of February 2022: @badxgillen @mattv @Knuckledragger @Lexinverts @Kenshin @suru If you want to be eligible for the raffle, please renew your memberships by February 13th at midnight. Follow these steps to renew:
  24. In celebration of Valentine's Day, we will be holding our 2nd annual "For the Love of Reefing" raffle. Three lucky winners will each receive a $100 gift certificate to the LFS of their choice. Rules: The raffle is open to paid Supporting Members of PNWMAS only. If you are not yet a paid Supporting Member, sign up here before midnight February 13, 2022 to be eligible for the drawing: Your Supporting Membership must be valid through the end of February 2022. If you are unsure of your Membership expiration date, send me a PM and I can look it up for you so you can renew before the Feb 13, 2022 midnight deadline. There are no raffle tickets to purchase. Instead, all Supporting Members will automatically be entered into the drawing. The three winners will be randomly selected on Monday, February 14th at 12:00 noon. Winners will be announced in a new thread at that time. I will send each winner a PM and/or email to coordinate on which LFS they choose for the $100 gift certificate. Good luck to all, and Happy Reefing Valentines Day!
