  1. Wouldnt that be nice Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  2. Ok, I will be the dickhead member and say what every experienced coral grower is thinking. If you have to ask, then you are NOT ready for SPS. You can buy them, sure, they will probably last for a couple of weeks, then... uh ooh. SPS are awesome, they are pretty much the only coral that interests me. That said, they take an incredible amount of dedication. They are EXPENSIVE and if you are willy nilly about tank maintenance, parameter monitoring or quarantine protocols, then you may have a very disheartening event, and one that costs you a LOT of money. I, like many, learned the hard way. Not testing newly mixed saltwater, not doing maintenance on my RODI, not testing water parameters regularly... or the "I will just dip it and put it in, he/she probably doesn't have bugs". Ammonia crash, acro eating flatworms, ich, alk spike, too much GFO, name it, I made those mistakes. My new system however is on lock down. I check my alk EVERY day. Every, single day. I have a hanna meter and it is easy and it is THAT important.. or at least I think it is. I check phos, nitrate, calcium, and iodine once a week. Everything goes through QT. Fish, corals, everything. I spend an average of about 3-4 hours a week reading about water chemistry, sps needs, nutrient export and monitoring, but mostly water chemistry. Obviously you don't have to do this, people do fine without QT or checking levels often. Do what makes you excited about the hobby but just know that there are not many shortcuts and your excitement may end up with a collection of dead SPS skeletons, each of which could have funded a nice meal out on the town with your GF or wife. I live in SW pdx, I have some purple montipora cap that I can give you and see what happens. At least you can start seeing what happens to alk and cal when you start adding calcifying organisms to your tank.
  3. I have read that the mangrove thing is actually not a very effective nutrient export technique. Put a yellow tang in there. Or an anemone and clown would be cool!!
  4. Nope.. even more expensive... city of portland water. Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. I put 5" of water in my basement once. Which part you ask? The ENTIRE basement. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. They are abbout $200 Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. LOL I was waiting for that! It is kind of comical though because I throw the frozen food in the box and all the fish try to peck at the acrylic trying to get it. It has to melt before it leaves the Acclimator 1000. All the fish go up to the acrylic....except for... you guessed it, the achilies.
  8. :( Your supposed to say.. "that is awesome, now when you release him the other fish will warmly accept him" Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. So far.. no interest from other fish.. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Boom. The acclimator 1000 Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. My Achilles does not really bother other fish. People thought my X large desjardini would rule the roost but he steers way clear of the Achilles. My fox face and desjardini spar every so often but man, I don't know what the angel fish said to the Achilles but he goes absolutely BEZERK when the angel was let go in the tank. Even after I put him back in the box the Achilles is zooming around the tank looking for someone to terrorize. I am building the box this evening, I will post a pic and make mounts that will fit for those poor souls that have a rimmed tank. LOL
  12. Will do. I am going to make it big enough for big tangs. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. I let the angel.go from his cage last night for a bit.. the achilies was immediately on him. He left him alone for like 20 mimutes.. then he was back at him. He has a couple torn fins now. I am building a LARGE acclimation box today. Anyone is welcome to it when i am finished. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. All are pending, can i get one? I am also near cuttlefish. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. My sump (refigium) is not a real friendly place, especially not for a $250 fish. I have him in that diffuser cage but i none of the other fish are checking him out so maybe they cant see him? Seems like i need to build an acrylic box stat.. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. Ok, after 16 days in qt I decided to add my new majestic angel to my DT. I fed the DT heavily and turned off the halides. It was like dropping a naked hooker into a maximum security prison. Lots of the tangs wanted to say "hello" but my achilies... jesus!! He was relentless. Biting, swiping, biting, ramming him. I shoed him away with a net but he just kept cumming back. I put my ear to the glass and could hear the achilies saying "WHAT, WHATS UP?? YOU TALKING [language filter] ABOUT ME?" So desperate times... now the angel is in solitary confiement and on 16hout suicide watch... Any suggestions?? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. Ok, maybe too pricey. Really have no idea. $60.. i know the rastas are worth that alone. Cheers Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Mine has exploded in the last week. Probably 60 heads now. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. This video helped me.. if you put the cages on wrong it blows this weird split flow. I clean mine every 2 months. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  21. Seems like a wife reset may be in order. Here are the steps.. 1. Get your wife close to a computer. 2. Have a webpage with a tropical vacation package on the screen. 3. Tell her you have been thinking about 2nd honeymoon. 4. Hug your wife and tell her you love her. 5. WHILE your hugging her, reach around and press Ctrl, Alt, and Del on the keyboard. 6. One hour later, bring up new fish tank. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. I went through THREE of these heaters in Dawns puffy tank. They kept filling with water and breaking. The store was like.. that is weird, they are supposed to be solid. I thoughy they were supoosed to be solid as well but.... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. Where are these tanks?. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  25. Thanks Rudy. Yeah i am running 3 coral blues and one actic t5 for like 10 hours. Salivating over the reefbrite strips. There seems to be a lot of people that have had great results with the blues. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
