  1. I promise not to float a bag in your overflow and thus cause the tank to overflow again. 🤡
  2. yeah ooops.. paid. I have not seen him pick at any of my corals. granted I have mostly sps and a couple frog spawns. I will throw in a frog spawn with fish purchase:) jeff said "he is as reef safe as any other fish" but, Jeff says that about every single fish in the store. Strangely, he is in the business of selling fish. I read that if they are used to eating tank food... i.e. pellets and LRS, then they will likely continue to do that. As this is a captive breed and raised fish, I would think that he is safer than most. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. yeah.. It is utterly ridiculous what i went through to get that majestic angel in the tank... Of course I told my girlfriend... i have to rehome a couple fish.. "ok, which ones". "wrassy"... no!!! i love wrassy. ok, fine.. fox face.. he is a pig ..."no!! you have had him the longest, I love fox face!! (then she does this hands spread on her head fox face stance thing). ok, well, the clowns then.... "what!, no! not the clowns" I love the clowns, they are small. sigh.. well, I love the majestic angel, it is a beautiful fish but I am worried he is going to munch my new acans. "oh, you can get rid of him" "thanks".... As if she is the one testing nitrates, dosing carbon, and vacuuming the system to keep things in line. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  4. I decided I need to lower my bioload a bit so I am going to put a couple fish up on the block. The newest of the fish is around 4 months, the foxface I have had for over a year. This fish went through a full quarantine period when I bought them but I recently got ich in display tank so they are all being treated with copper. The have 20 days left of copper treatment. one of the fish for sale had visible ich but you should probably wait until the copper treatment is done and that way you can confidently plop them in your tank. Adult one spot fox face.. probably 5" long. Pretty chill fish and a voracious algae eater... also likes bubble algae $50 Adult melanarus wrasse. Hasn't bothered my clams or my inverts from what I have seen. $20 Pair of captive grown ORA ocellaris clowns.. one white and black, the other white and orange. $50 Adult coloration Majestic angel.. captive raised, great eater.. BEAUTIFUL fish. about 4" long. Pair $150. will take $130 Will post pictures if their is interest. Cheers
  5. soak newspaper in vinegar, lay it on there. several hours later or overnight, wipe it off. or..... wait till it gets really bad then post it on craigslist for sale with a price that is 2x what it is worth. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. I have heard mixed reviews on black out, as it can often times come right back after you bring the lights back on. I had a mix of cyano and dino during my tanks "uglies phase" I vacuumed, water changes, lowered my phos, basically I had tried a lot of things. Then I stumbled on a thread about vibrant aquarium cleaner on R2R. People were saying great things about it and they had amazing before and after pictures. I spent the $30 and got a bottle. WOW!! This stuff is amazing and I mean A-MA- ZING. It is a bacteria that feeds on algae. I did two doses for three weeks and everything was gone. People online cry foul, the typical "thats snake oil" crap but I tell you what, it works better than ANYTHING i have tried in the past and did NOT affect any of my corals or inverts. I live in SW as well, if you want to borrow some 4" 100 micron socks you can.
  7. ...a frag kit makes you look badass. That is something a test kit will never do... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. I don't know what the others were doing.. I had moderate flow, about 300-350 par under radium MH bulbs. Mine really seemed to take off when I fed them with reef frenzy about 2x a week. It could be the feeding, or they could have just settled in, these were a finicky lot to get to just chill out and grow. My acans however REALLY like the reef chilli.
  9. yep, that is all it is. Any vodka that isn't flavored is fine. I have a gallon jug of heinz vinegar on a dosing pump. Well, I did until I just completely tore apart my tank to get the fish out of it to go fallow... SIGH. i jsut dosed carbon, some dose just vodka, and some dose a mixture of the two. Some have reported faster results with the mixture. Just don't dilute the vinegar and it will stay fresh. If you dilute it, it will not be as acidic and you could get bacteria growth. The "typical" level needed to affect change is around .30 ml per gallon of water. ... you ramp up to this level. This is all discussed ad nausea on R2R.
  10. I am with the other guys on their view of bio pellets. In theory its great but in practice it can be tricky to get the right volume AND flow rate for an even flow of carbon to the tank. If you are trying to reduce nitrates then I would do chaeto or algae reactor first and THEN try a carbon dosing scheme. A big jug of vinegar and a dosing pump is pretty easy. You can even pour some vodka in there too as an additional source of carbon. So from what I know, and others can chime in here, the stress has allowed an infection to take hold. So either cut the infection off and frag or you can try and dip it to fight the infection. Good luck and stay strong
  11. selling a wood aquarium stand. painted mate black. two doors in front. it's pretty slick actually. it has a light and plugs wired to it. so plug the stand in then plug everything into the inside of the stand. its 30" high I think. it was a stand for a 120. $100 Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. I would hazard a guess that it is different par level. Have you measured the par at both spots?> If you are near SW pdx you can borrow my par meter.
  13. It looks like a seahorse with a broken back....
  14. I don't see how carbon would effect it. GFO.. not sure. It does have an infection though. I would dunk in marine melafix or iodine.
  15. Unless you are dying to spend money for a plastic bottle with the word nopox on it, you can simply mix 500 mls vinegar, 375 vodka and 125 RO/DI and tadah... NoPox. Also,Vibrant works AWESOME. I mean wow!! It will drop your nutrient levels, which is a win win depending on where you are at. Vibrant is a bacteria... it is not carbon dosing. It has a tiny bit of acetic acid (vinegar) in it but only for a preservative. cheers.
  16. wow, Kev killed it. they definately took a while to kick into high gear. not sure how prizes work but if I could get a fragging kit that would be super cool cheers Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. I started with 4 and ended up with 11 Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. a good cat is easy to find, the truly special ones are a little fewer and farther in between. sorry to hear about bucket, he sounds like he was a great cat. My dexter "flops" on me and demands his belly rubbed... which according to legend, is like rubbing an Angel's belly. Every cat has something to offer so I hope you guys can get another one soon. sorry Sean. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. Anyone have a BRS reactor just laying around? Thanks
  20. I don't know why I would pay $1/lb. wait, sorry, I don't know why I wouldn't pay $1/lb. hope that clears it up. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. and...............now I have ich. so a combined total of about 400 gallons of water, copper, testing, more testing... and I have to go fallow. that's cool though, it will be easy to catch all the fish in my tank.... where is the stab a knife in my eye emoticon? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. mine are in fairly high flow and about 300 par (20k radium bulb). I started feeding them reef roids in the last two weeks and in that time they sprouted 3 new heads! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. I will take your brs stuff, and maybe a couple odds and ends. Should I bring a tazer with me when I get it?? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. I QT everything. Especially given the amount of cash invested in my system. The days of losing fish to diseases in my DT are over for me. Same goes for frags... 10 gallon tank, simple light, Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
