I am trying to make some big sales to treat myself to two 72" reefbrite xho strips. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  6. I am torn on glass or acrylic for huge tanks. Safety factor definately goes to acrylic but man they scratch if you look at them funny. I have a spot picked out for a 10' long, 3' wide penninsula tank but judgement got the better of me Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. I have four heads again . I had three until i noticed one floating on the bottom. I have a little baby head coming out as well. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  10. My tank costs about $200/month to run. Cant imaging keeping a 600 gallon system running. But man, that is one SWEET tank. And a steal of a deal at 6k. Lets all chip in an just buy it for Sean. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. Oh...my...god... i never thought I would have tank envy... https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/for/d/new-400g-aquarium-sump-and/6589289985.html Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Big zoa colony. Its about 6x3", probably 70 heads. Mostly one type but there is about 10 heads of rasta. $100 Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. Indeed. I have been emptying 5 gallons from my QT, and replacing it with 5 gallons from my DT in an attempt to keep it stable. I was trying to get things out of there as fast as possible. Those buggers can be easily missed as they are completely clear. Its the eggs I worry about. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. Mine is tied into the main system as well. Pro: no additional testing, more water = greater stability, no need for new heaters, monitors, etc. Cons: one crash they all crash, potential to just put an un QTd piece in there becauase its "kind of seperate".. (infect one, infect all). Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. You having problems made me google it again. Standard protocol is dips twice a week. The little buggers can swim so it is concievable that they could be waterborn when you grab frags for a dip. The only last 5-7 days without acros to eat. What a horrible creature they are :( Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. Fwiw.. this is what the eggs of those little bas- tards look like.. And look at the "flesh extention" on that frag!! Best hobby EVER. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. Lol. They are kind of dumb because you have to hold the frag so close to be able to focus, you can only look through one eye. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. I went through this as well, i didnt QT because i was also moving but did get good results from dippinh twice a week. Once with bayer and once with marine melafix. I think the big take away is this... DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. I set up a 20 gallon qt for like $200. The wave maker and light are the only expsnsive parts. Now EVERYTHING i bring home gets dipped and placed in there. It is kind of funny timing as i JUST finished examining the frags i got a week ago and one of them has some type of planaria on it. If your not willing to qt then at the VERY least, get a pait of magnifying glasses from amazon. You can see the flatworms and more importantly, their eggs very easily with them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B010FOSA0W/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1526697188&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=magnifying+glasses+with+light&dpPl=1&dpID=41dTtgS6h8L&ref=plSrch Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. Someone that wants to grow sps should jump on this. 20k radiums for the win! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. I thought i would throw this out there for you 2016 apex users who have an 832 energy bar. This code is buried in the advanced section of the manual and unless you are specifically mindful of setting up an amp or watt draw alert you are missing out of an excellent safety net. The 832 will send you alerts if something is drawing too much or too little current. Also, having one of these alerts is the ONLY WAY that apex will notify you if the breaker on your 832 flips. My 832 breaker flipped which meant NOTHING was running. But.. the lights were still on and the appropriate relays were opened and closed so fusion and heartbeat thought everything was cool and the gang. These alerts are not set up in the individual sensor or plug code sections. This section is meant to tell the plugs how to act and respond. The current monitoring is under the INPUTS section. Soo.. Log in to fusion, and click on your apex. Now click on the lines in the top right corner. Now click on the apex home button top left (has a house next to it). Scroll down and under configuration you will see inputs. Click on inputs. Click on the plug you want to monitor. Click advanced. Set high and low thresholds and then upload the changes. Done I have a high and low on my return pump.. (something stuck in the pump will cause the watts to increase). And i have alerts on mu skimmer, just for the sake of having an extra alert. If you set a high alert for your heater... good idea as they break, make sure there is no low alert. Otherwise everytime the heater shuts off you will get an alert. People probably already know this stuff but hopefully this will help someone. Cheers Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. Lol. It can seem oveewhwleming at times. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  24. ...who is texting me at 1:21 AM? Ohh.. its my fish tank? Is it something minor so I can get some sleep? No, your massive return pump isn't running.. SUPER AWESOME, THAT IS GREAT NEWS!! EB 832 keeps popping its breaker (the internal one). Unplug everything... plug everything back in huh, drawing 21 AMPS with nothing plugged in? That seems unlikely as the outlet is not on fire. take apart 832.. nothing hot, can't really service breaker. Put back together.... no joy? Yell at it, wake girlfriend up by tromping up and down stairs. Try my best to answer the now 2:30 AM question "whats wrong"? while running through my options to control the heaters, ato and dosing pumps with only power strips... "stuff is broken". is what I came up with. Email neptune at 3:30am.. they basically said.. its broke send it back to us. Funny thing is, I know why this happened. I actually said to Dawn the other day "you know, I am really enjoying the aquarium". Things are stable, it is disease free, the sps are growing, the fish are healthy, it is finally coming together quite nicely". Sighhh..
  25. I don't understand.. dosing 2 part is essentially the same thing as a calcium reactor... just less moving parts and things to break. They both do the same thing..add cal and alk to the aquarium (well, a reactor should also dose some trace elements as well). Just like a reactor, you should be able to slowly dial in the rate to match your tanks needs. I was talking to Jeff a couple weeks back and he was telling me he switched one of the store systems to a doser and "his alk has never been more stable". Are you not using a dosing pump?
