  1. Blue Z Reef

    Chalice Show

What’s that one called? I have one also but always get mixed responses on the name lol! beautiful collection!
  2. easy peasey 😂! When we bought our house I was on the lookout for a nice spot for a tank like this and that spot worked out perfect for a 6’ tank. You know it buddy! Super excited for the stocking part of the build. My son is already saying he wants to pick a fish! Now if our fam can all just get over the cold/flu we all have I could get back to work on it 🤧
  3. Thanks, took a lot of work to get it to where it is now. Whole thing was sprayed, then ran really bad and had to all be sanded back down and resprayed again. I am now very happy with my decision to do white instead of leaving the oak/wood look it had before, definitely fits the room well! unfortunately our whole family has had the worst cold/flu in years so not moving fast at the moment, hoping to pickup speed again once we feel better 🤧
  4. It has been a LONG HAUL with this build. I bought this tank about a year ago and spent forever refinishing the stand to match the trim in our house. The stand also needed some repairs as well. After all that time, I just had some movers bring it into the living room this morning. The scale of this puppy is pretty daunting now that I see it in its “final resting place”. It is a MarineLand 6x2x28” tank (210 gal I believe, which is ironically what I had a few years back just different dimensions). Hoping the setup doesn’t take another year 😂 HUGE shoutout to Confidence Moving Labor LLC for doing the move. It was surprisingly hard to find someone willing to do the move period. I felt their price was more than fair also (had some people quote me a “would be dumb not to do the job” price 🙄). Here it is!
  5. It’s all more or less the same. When people first started experimenting with it you had to order it through a weird petmed website. After it proved out, most online retailers started carrying it under a brand name like “Flux Rx”. I believe it is exempt from needing any prescriptions as it’s sold as Reef tank use only. Prior the websites were kinda shady you had to order from (like how some of us have got Interceptor in the past without an Rx online).
  6. I guess the part I’m a bit confused about is you said your Hanna reads phosphate of 10? What units are those? Because I’m pretty sure you are meaning .10 PPM not 10 PPM which would likely kill everything in your tank. Also, what Nate says is true, you likely have much higher levels and the algae is reducing the number. Do you run any phosphate/nitrate reducer like NoPox? I have also done Fluconazole with success 2x. Overall it is easy, just takes a few weeks for GHA. I would go that route first before doing a reboot.
  7. Yellow Corris are great “utility” wrasses and are lower priced also. They develop cool face coloration as an adult also. I would avoid the 6 line if you ever want other wrasses in the future, they can be really mean. One cool wrasse I had that was a good forager was a red tail tamarin wrasse. Idk if it was just timing when I got mine but I haven’t noticed any in LFS since...
  8. Let me know a price for the whole apex system, (system, ATO, and DOS combo).
  9. So freaking clean! Amazing collection, nice to see such nice LPS for a change 👍
  10. I was under the impression that this only happened with Palys and not standard zoas like fire and ice. Curious to see how this turns out. sounds like your apartment needs aired out at a minimum, possibly a hepa with UV running too...
  11. If your not on a huge time crunch for a tank I will have my 45 gal rimless marineland tank and stand for sale. Has a corner overflow and sump. Haven’t figured out price yet as I’m waiting to get my big tank moved in and going first...maybe a month out?
  12. I did a 20 long but had fish and a bunch of corals in it. I ran an aquaclear HOB with carbon and sponge for filtration. Mostly relied on 5 gal changes every 1-2 weeks. Again though, I had fish polluting the system so you likely wouldn’t need it as much. My display I did a 70-80% water change after coral removal and ran the DT with live rock with Triton detox (for the bottle specified amount of time). Waited about a month and put everything back. Don’t recall it going through any significant cycle. Been fine since. your call but if you want to borrow all of my QT stuff I used and the Detox I have left (doesn’t take a ton) you are more then welcome to.
  13. I had the same thing happen. Corals were really upset and didn’t look better after a day or two. I pulled everything into a QT tank and ran Triton Detox (left most of the rock in DT). After a few weeks put everything back and all was good again. Not sure what is in the heaters but feared it was heavy metals since other levels were ok. sometimes this hobby can really hit below the belt for no reason at all 😞 good luck with the recovery.
  14. I use these to hold BTAs, could work for you too and they suction to the glass. Haven’t had one fall yet... https://www.amazon.com/Senzeal-Crystal-Aquatic-Aquarium-Aquascape/dp/B074T8BLCF
  15. I NEED a huge bubble like that in my new tank...harder to come by these days! Nice collection 👍
  16. You’ll make more parting out. I would at least sell off corals/rock/fish first then go from there.
  17. I don’t think these use dye. If you dyed rock, it would leach out. I believe these are painted, not 100% sure what they use. I would think that you could use a colored epoxy as a paint. Only issue I would see is that the epoxy would likely encase the rock, not allowing the water to flow into the crevices and holes, thus reducing overall surface area available for bacteria growth. If you look at the purple stuff, you’ll notice that they don’t paint 100% of the rock, leaving some exposed area. The blackout is totally coated, not sure how good this would be long term. Just my thoughts.
  18. I had green spot puffers a long time ago that I transitioned to saltwater. Obviously not Reef safe (they eat everything...including fingers 😂) Also had some archer fish at one time. Cool fish except they squirt steams of water out of the tank trying to take down bugs. Mine always soaked a spot where the sun hit the wall 😦. I had lids but they found the gaps lol
  19. Just call the welding supply store and ask. I swapped a 5 for a 10 and it wasn’t a ton more.
  20. Also, are they new to the system? Any recent changes? I’d start testing and looking over your equipment for issues.
