  1. Hoping to make it as well. Really want to see this system! And all of you, of course
  2. This is going to look really small next to your display tank!
  3. Very cool idea. I was wondering how you were going to compensate for the condensation with the chilled water. I recall seeing some local chilled water display tanks which had super thick acrylic in order to avoid that problem.
  4. Congrats on the new tank - that will look fantastic in that space. Looks like you got a head start on some worthy corals as well.. That gonipora is fabulous! Have fun setting things up.
  5. So, you are saying you are the key master? ? Thanks for all the work getting the new site sorted!
  6. Yikes - that is a bit worrisome but, like you say, might just be helping you keep things neat and clean and going after dead tissue. As for his fashion sense though, not sure the cloves and the bottle cap really hang together as a "look". I would put the fashion police on notice.
  7. I remember reading about this a while back... looking forward to seeing it in action! What all do you plan to keep in it?
  8. Well... doubt it if they look anything like that in person (which I am sure they do). I haven't historically been a zoanthid person but I am coming around - will definitely need those!
  9. Thanks for the heads up! Those are so awesome... would love to see them in person. Nice score Kim!
  10. I happen to have two 400 Watt Radium mogul fixtures with reflectors and ballast and two VHO actinics that I had in the canopy over my 120 (4x2x2) tank. Not sure if that would work for you or if you are looking for a self contained solution. They will definitely grow anything you might want!
  11. Oh man... that is not good. Not home until tonight but if you need someplace to put some coral I could probably find some room in my tank but couldn't fit the large rock. Sorry Randall
  12. I will miss this tank! One of my favs even though it was relatively short lived. Good luck with the new build Randall.
  13. Second that! Great job with such a tight space. Looking forward to seeing this with livestock. Interestingly, I never had an issue with six lines jumping. Maybe because they were always the ones doing the chasing/attacking! We used to call ours "wrassehole". (Feel free to delete that if you thinks it's a much mods).
  14. Wow - this is about the time I was last on the board. Weird flashback indeed! Where is CCR these days?

    Carpet...

Nice find! Hope it does well for you.
  16. Haha! Yeah, that looks like some wrasse-bait right there! Reminds me of our cats... if they can't see you then you must not be able to see them! Logic fail.
  17. Very nice - thanks for sharing! I enjoyed all the different clown families in their respective "homes". And yes, the parrot fish are awesome.
  18. Good point. The wrasse definitely likes to hit the hay (or sand in his case) as soon as the lights kick down so seems like there is a good chance it could work. There is plenty of rock-work for them to hide in in the meantime.
  19. Keep us posted Jeremy - I think it would be interesting to experiment with these. I'm guessing my melanarus wrasse might as well
  20. I would second this video series as a good starting point/refresher for covering some of the most salient points of setting up a tank from scratch. As you eluded to, there are many ways to achieve "success", which is why you can find a lot of contradictory info, but you can still find some solid principals in the mix. The most consistent advice I have seen, which matches my experience, is to shoot for stability in your parameters and take whatever path to best achieve that. There are certainly some choices to be made that will influence things such as lighting and flow (are you keeping coral? If so what kind) but, regardless, stability is a common goal for any setup.
  21. Odd, I see one and it seems to work. I was curious as well.
  22. Glad to hear that worked. Will have to keep that trick in mind!
  23. On a positive note... not sure if anyone else noticed this but the email notifications are WAY nicer than they were in the old system. Easy to read and complete with graphics. Very nice!
