  1. Certainly more ambitious than your average build thread. Very cool. Reminds me that I need to get my camera out and update mine as well!
  2. That is a nice sized piece. Sorry about the accidental fragging. I avoid that by never cleaning my tank.. well, not really. Snapped off a piece of birds nest the other day in fact.
  3. I would also take this if for some reason it doesn't work out. Funny, I was just going to try and find this thread for this...
  4. Nice! Did you fill up your suitcase?
  5. Sorry I can't help you out here Jorge... the only place I could fit that would be inside my display tank!
  6. Hmm. This seems odd. If that Reactor Ph is accurate you should be disolving your media at a pretty healthy rate. I would hesitate to push it too far as you can start to turn some media into sludge. Sorry I can't recall if you already calibrated your electrode or not but might double check that if not. There was another thread on here recently that had some good advice - one piece of which was that it is often easier to run reactors at higher flow rates then adjust CO2/Ph to hit you target due to the difficulties of maintaining accurate flow at such low volumes. That approach might help you dial it in without risking too low of a Ph in your reaction chamber.
  7. I would also expect your current wrasses to snag those if they are flatworms or similar. As far as overwrasing... I personally subscribe to the "you can never have too many wrasses" theory with the sole exception of the six line. Kept lots of wrasses together over the years and only had a serious problem with six lines.
  8. Guess it's pretty conclusive at this point. Sorry to hear he has some bad dietary habits... but dang, it is pretty!
  9. That is more like it! Way to bounce back after the clown sale post. I will now sit back and watch the fireworks...
  10. Bummer. That was a really nice specimen. Sorry Cherany.
  11. That is a fungia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fungia) - a really nice one. Like everything in this tank it looks really happy! Great job.
  12. Haha! I appreciate the offer (other than than the poo part) and would definitely consider. Good to know about your experience re fish and hardiness. The mini maxis were kind of tempting to me as well. Thanks for the additional info Ken... very tempting. It is true, however, that the ultras are a whole different ball game looks wise than the standard ones (which aren't bad themselves). Definitely making me reconsider the manifesto!
  13. That is a pretty cost effective option although you (obviously) don't know for sure what you will get. As of now, however, I am sticking to my "no nems" manifesto until I research these guys a bit more. If they really do stay put and aren't great at capturing fish (an issue for me) then maybe they would work in my tank. Thanks for the info Ken.
  14. Looks like you might have a few goodies in your garage besides the frag tank!
  15. Those are all really sweet. Makes me second guess the no men's rule for the tank. Thanks for sharing!
  16. But it is very handsome! The tips do look gold in that picture and the purple is really deep. Very nice...
  17. I was pretty shocking to be honest. I am testing one out in my refugium now so we can get another take on it but it certainly seemed to be doing a fine job in Brian's sump - really nice thick healthy mat of chaeto in not a very long time. Given the bioload in that tank, I am guessing it might even be nutrient limited.
  18. This is good feedback and glad to hear it is working. Colby did suggest that the line between working and not is pretty thin and your experience would certainly seem to support that. I think they use some pretty carefully calibrated conductance/salinity meters for their setup just because of this - and the fact that overshooting can be fatal. Hope your tang continues to improve!
  19. C'mon... exploding bulbs make life more exciting! (said no one ever) That BRS video is pretty interesting. Surprised how well all of the chaeto setups worked given the amount of nutrients they were loading in there. Will be curious how well they hold up over time and if they start upping the food supply. I would actually - assuming it isn't already spoken for. BTW - I think I may be going blind... I completely missed that line in your original post. Been a rough few weeks.
  20. You didn't happen to get any extra of those did you? I would be interested in trying out a different light arrangement for mine as I am definitely under-driving it right now (although it grows coraline apparently).
  21. It is sweet - noticed it as well.
  22. Duh! Not like it was written right in the first post or anything (had to find an excuse to use that emoji). Every time I see those tank dimensions I think of Randall's tank, didn't realize Jeff had one also. Super cool tank profile and should be great for frags while still letting you put some things like zoa rocks in there that might be a bit taller. Can't wait to see this filled up!
  23. Super clean setup. Sounds like you spent some time with the layout. I keep tweaking mine despite all the planning. Never. Quite. Right.
  24. That was quick! Sounds like it found a good home.
