  1. This is an interesting possible source - especially if it hasn't cleared yet. Any updates?
  2. Whoa - that looks a bit intimidating. Curious to hear the ID.
  3. I just tried and likewise was able to navigate there. It does not show me any actual options to purchase but it probably recognizes me as a paid member.
  4. Sorry you have to give them up - that would be hard. I happen to work in a research facility with thousands of drosophila stocks... they would make great mascots ?
  5. These are so cool! Always loved checking them out at pets on Broadway. Wish I had room for them.
  6. I sent Jeremy a PM about this.
  7. And thank you for the frag Andrew! Looking like it survived the trip OK - will be interested to see how it grows out. Good to see you!
  8. We missed you! Darcy had to draw some of the raffle tickets in your absence (she didn't pull any of mine though). It was super informative and really interesting to see and hear about their operation!
  9. That isn't good. Hopefully TheClark or Chief can take a look at this. We had another broken link for one of the vendor sites earlier this week...
  10. Do sailboats count? Ran into the local RC sailing club up in White Salmon and got some impromptu lessons. Had a blast and would consider taking that up if I had more time. Boats are surprisingly cheap... well at least compared to reef tanks!
  11. Sorry to hear you had to part with Cindy Lou but I guess that was always a risk. Such beautiful fish but definitely delicate and easily cowed. One of our female lyretails similarly never comes out - yet in her case I never see anyone chasing her! Looks like Cindy Lou found a good home though. Now she can be queen of her own kingdom and not have to worry about any bossy pants barbonius!
  12. Makes sense. Probably the kind of thing you would want to use all the time to document growth, new coral, etc. so probably not an ideal loaner. Of course, if I would have known... ?
  13. I would put money on this. If it is like most brands, it will go away after a while (normally a couple hours) but you typically need to run the skimmer to facilitate that. If you can, I would set the skimmer up in the sump and just let it overflow into that until things calm down.
  14. Glad you found a source! If you get them breeding again let me know... would love to have a little buddy for mine (I know it's in there somewhere).
  15. At first glance, this is what I would be concerned about as well. Seem like a lot of foam for just an overflow (if I am interpreting this pic correctly). Sometimes certain compounds that act as surfactants (like soap) can get into the system - one example is the two part epoxy for gluing together rock work. That tends to cause skimmers to go crazy. Did you use anything besides salt? Maybe a water conditioner of some sort?
  16. Great pics as always Bert! Thanks for doing all the documentation work... love getting to see the meeting recaps - even if I was there! Plus now I can finally put faces to names for lots of folk on here - including the legendary Chief and R3!
  17. Looking good! I love those jawfish - nice addition.
  18. I guess that means I don't have to pick it up... the corgi will be disappointed ?
  19. Those are cool! Sadly, the one I saw wasn't nearly as colorful.
  20. If I ever run across mine again I will try and snag it for you. Would be a lot easier to keep track of them in your tank! Also proabably less likely to get eaten.
  21. I somehow missed saying hi to R3 and Chief... my bad. I have seen a lot of posts over the years from both but don't think we've met. That's what I get for being late and easily distracted ? I choose to blame it on the weedy dragons. Hopefully I will get another chance but glad to hear they both made it.
  22. Welcome! You have some nice fish in that 120. Hopefully you have someone trustworthy looking after it while you are gone! I noticed that bird wrasse as well... very cool.
  23. Nice when something actually meets or exceeds your expectations! Thanks for providing a review.
