  1. I picked up my frag today (and met @sroberts doing the same). Good looking frags with several branches. Are we going to try measuring each branch, or just overall height? Jeff showed me the remaining colony so it looks like this coral branches more than growing tall. @pdxmonkeyboy are you going to create an official thread for photos? 2. The next time I aquascape I'm going to try something like this: (these were from a build thread I found on R2R: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/100-gallons-acros-tank.310947/)
  3. My two emerald crabs have been doing an amazing job cleaning up the algae on my rocks. Love these guys!
  4. Wow, sorry to hear about this. I'm not trying to defend BRS, but I have had a couple of damaged or defective items shipped, and they have always promptly replaced the items with no questions asked. I've been impressed by their customer service on several occasions between May and Sept 2018. Hopefully things aren't going down hill in their customer service dept.
  5. This is interesting: https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5bdbd2bde4b01ffb1d00c440/amp
  6. My Tailspot Blennie (which was my favorite fish) mysteriously died last week. It had no previous signs of any problems. My wife & I are both pretty sad about the loss, but we agreed we should get a new Blennie because they have so much personality. I put our new Blennie in the quarantine tank, but hours later I couldn’t find it. It took a while, but I figured out his secret hiding place: I love these little guys!
  7. I'm happy to get a nice chunky frag, and happy to compete. Some people just can't take a joke. 😂
  8. The diffusers really help with smoothing out the color pattern and reducing the disco effect. They also reduce the glare when looking at the tank from across the room. I’m not exactly sure what shading you mean, but hopefully this helps.
  9. I really like my Radion XR30 Pro’s. I have two on my Reefer XL 425 with diffusers and the RMS mount arms and they look great. I’m controlling them from my Apex with the WXM module. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm retired, so I have a lot of spare time on my hands. I test Alk, calcium, PO4, and NO3 every day, and magnesium weekly. I know it's overkill, but I do it anyway. I log all my results in Apex Fusion so I have graphs that make it really easy to see trends over time. My tank is only 6 months old, but it has consistently been low (near zero) on nitrates even if I overfeed, yet PO4 has been in normal range. I recently started dosing potassium nitrate to bring up nitrate, and I've seen an improvement in coral coloration and polyp extension.
  11. Is there a specific time to pick up the frags at @CuttleFishandCoral on Saturday, or any time during normal business hours?
  12. Mine crawls all over my hand every time I reach into the tank, especially if I'm holding any food. I'd try food in one hand and a net in the other.
  13. Or at least (cough, cough...) call in sick?
  14. @CuttleFishandCoral Jeff referred to it as "Cnc purple urple" in the other thread.
  15. Welcome from another Beaverton newbie. I started my Reefer 425 about 6 months ago. Lots of good advice on this forum.

  17. I've had an ongoing problem with green wire algae for a few months, and lately I've started seeing small outbreaks of green bubble algae. Today I decided to add a couple emerald crabs to hopefully prevent the bubble algae from spreading. I was happy to see they went right to work on the wire algae! They haven't found the bubble algae yet, but hopefully will get around to it. Even if they don't, it's so gratifying to watch them eat:
