  1. I have a similar model but mine has adjustable height legs. Basically, I am better than everyone else. Ok, not better, but 8" taller. LOL
  2. yeah ecotech. I always wanted to spend top dollar on something that breaks two years later. 😆
  3. Put me down for $20 at 3-1 odds on that clown fish.
  4. So I decided to finally tackle some nuisance algae in my system. So I started dosing virbant and also did a mega dose of fluconozole to get rid of bryopsis. As per the fluconazole directions, I took my carbon offline, turned of the ozone, and turned of my 110watt UV unit. Somewhat predictably, 5 days later I had cyano bacteria in my frag tank. Interesting not a lick in the display, but only in the frag tank but I have a lot of big dudes in the display so I guess it is not that surprising. Anywho.. I took my gyre and blew the cyano off my frag collection. Of course, it was all back the next day. Turned on the UV and the ozone and blew it off again. It came back, but only about 20% of the original amount. Blew it off again and now there is hardly anything around. I realize there are a couple different ways to tackle cyano.. mostly adding bacteria but I have to say that I am super happy that Jeff convinced me to put a honking UV light in my system. Kind of pleasant to think about the cyano entering the UV alive and then coming out dead as a door nail.
  5. Vibrant is da bomb. I recently got tired of looking at bryopsis and a small amount of bubble algae and did a dose of fluconozole and started dosing vibrant. I guess putting the chaeto online is going to have to wait for a bit.
  6. well if it doesn't turn out you can always make a bundt cake with it. cake.jfif
  7. Interesting.. do you have a 600 gallon display and two 50 gallon frag tanks? so.. yeah.
  8. Hey gang, wondering if anyone has a line on fluconazole. and wait.. before you say "dude, just buy reefluxfrom BRS" I have to treat 750 gallons.. so that I would need like 8 bottles of that costing like $120. Pill from would be like $50 but you need a prescription.
  9. My FIRST saltwater tank was around 1986 that my father and I had. It was a 75 gallon glass tank that had all the really nice gear.... an airstone driven underwater filter and a magnum diatomaceous earth canister filter. I can't remember what lights, but I believe it was t5. I remember my mom had a Sh#$%$t fit when my dad spent $20 on a clown fish. The maintenance was a major PIA but I loved going to the fish store.
  10. https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/for/d/damascus-saltwater-aquarium-waterbox/7390748226.html 6k now. I was ready to pay 9k, but I am not going to pay 6.
  11. Lmao.. i love when police estimate the value of narcotics. This would be worth 6 million dollars... in 1995. Actually looked like a legit and very well setup operation. Apex? Lol, no. It is quite a bit more complicated than that. Anyways.. anyone with half a brain knows you don't grow weed in washington county.
  12. My trident alk and cal readings are always a bit lower. I was having some weird readings and it went away when I cleaned the vial. I also made sure the drain and input lines are the same length.. they were not when I initially set it up.
  13. Congrats you two. As per standard contest rules, i nominated you so i get a frag eventually. Lol
  14. Yeah, I think is you were delivering tanks on the regular than building a stout wood platform that bolts to the cart and makes thing more stable would be well worth it. Or jsut buy acrylic tanks, three guys carried that 10' acrylic tank we just delivered.
  15. They are a couple hundred at harbor freight.. might be worthwhile investment. The club should buy one....
  16. Let me know if i can borrow for a couple days. PS. Old school "return it, and return it in the same or better condition or replace it" guy here. I absolutely ducking hate people that borrow and dont return.
  17. I have some of this !#^%$@#^$ in my tank. I have tried scraping, covering in glue, lasering, and hurling insults at it. I am going to cover it with alk paste this weekend. Removing it will likely cause fragments to float free... then you will have a new patch to deal with.
  18. what his face I can't remember his forum name. He is a soldering god! Micah.. what is his forum name
  19. with great power comes great responsibility
  20. Depends on where you are getting your acrylic. But the oversized sheets for this were $1,200 and $980..plus a sheet of 3/4.
  21. Dude! Apex classic and two leds! I was like hmmm. Maybe. But you throw a toadstool and two bubble tips... you just can't pass that up! Or i could build you a custom 8x4x 2 for like 3,000 less than that.
  22. That is because acrylic is actually clear.
