  1. I want one, but never get down your way. Some day...!
  2. Ha, cool, never thought of pointing it at the tank. Finding the dogs sleeping space, well that's just plain cool! Its a great tool, Holmes on Homes got me fired up on them if anyone knows about that show from years back.
  3. Nothing at all surprisingly! Perhaps the coral and live rock are doing their thing. There was one epiphany though... Just a bit before adding the bot, I tied in my son's neglected system. It's only sixty gallons but its possible it added something to the main system. No tests were done on his water before tying it in. Certainly his tank is night and day, so I think his water received the better end of the deal. Phosphates are annoying enough that it was time to break out the LaCL, have not used that in years. Going super slow and working those down into a normal range too. It will be nice to switch back to the low range checker again... Maybe ignorance is bliss, because I have some truly massive colonies, growth and color everywhere. Perhaps I should leave it all alone.. its tough to say. Probably not in a reef keepers DNA though to leave much of anything alone. All in all, it's nice to have data with a press of a button. It just appeals to me personally... I blame the trident, because it is so good I wanted more! Cannot wait for APEX to come out with more params... Liking the bot!
  4. Nitrate continues to drop, even though the test shows 5ppm for a while, you can see the color shifting or use mspaint eyedropper tool to measure the color changes... Feeling good about reefbot, would never have tested nitrate this much myself... Rather do other stuff with the tank!
  5. They say algae is the number one reason people leave the hobby, so its good to get after it. I found myself considering leaving due to it years ago. First issue was 'used' rock, it was loaded with phosphate. Second issue for me was wrong foods. Even if someone would have warned me I probably wouldn't have believed it. I sure do now! Coralline is the only bad algae now, and only when its on the tank walls
  6. @stylaster fixed my GHA problem. I was feeding spirulina flake food to my fatty tangs. They loved it, but it was filling the tank with phosphates. I switched to only frozen foods and nori, nothing else goes in. These last two years it's Nori only, one sheet every day. Algae problems are a distant memory and the tangs are still fatties, which is how I like em Oddly enough all the non tangs are fat too, so maybe they are eating my coral? 😂 Sharing in the hopes it helps someone out there with similar probs...
  7. For sure, I was getting that. So perhaps in summary... Physically remove as much off as you can with tweezers or similar, toothbrush the skeleton with peroxide, seems like a decent action plan with almost no risk to your healthy duncans. I have done this to zoas plenty of times (dip in peroxide) and it is miraculous. Getting to the source of the GHA is the long term challenge though. All the best
  8. Hmmm... I would do what Micah suggests, just because its the lowest risk. As Burningbaal mentions, lugols is good for zoas and I imagine LPS too. For what its worth, just another opinion weighing in Good luck, let us know in a week or so...
  9. I have had many years of good luck with the aqueon pro, shatterproof heaters: They seem very accurate. On tanks with APEX, APEX has its back. On tanks without APEX, inkbird has its back. Too many horror stories to not have a backup it seems like! That inkbird can even alarm if the temp goes out of bounds, pretty cool for such a low cost device. https://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-Aquarium-Heater-Black-Multi/dp/B07L1M7454/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=aqueon%2Bheater&qid=1600900497&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRzNISUFON1czM0RFJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTUxOTQ2M0tHNEYySlJPSkxXMCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDM5OTQxM09VQ0kyUFBMRDdBJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1
  10. Love it, love coral update shots!
  11. Dang! I am thinking planetary gears... It helped allot on my 3d printed persistaltic pump for the big thick heavy tubing. Now of course, my motor is too small but the power of gears is incredible to behold if you don't need speed. Hopefully there is a gear box you can slap on that one...
  12. I'm in, I have a shipment coming Thursday hopefully I can get that added? I emailed Austin, so I think we are good for adding it to the other shipment.
  13. Sounds like a ton of good options these days! I have APEX with cheap float switches everywhere, 10 in total!
  14. Is autotopoff.com still around? Their stuff... I have been so happy with it over the years...
  15. That's it, thanks guys. I love this thing, bought at our last PNWMAS frag swap! Miss those...
  16. Love this one. Anyone remember the name?
