  1. Could also wire one of these as an extra safety http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/water-valve-tunze.html
  2. I wouldn't touch anything. All your parameters are within acceptable ranges. The issues you're having are likely due to the rapid changes your tank has gone through. The temp drop probably kicked things off and chasing alk around is what likely did the most damage. If you can keep alk stable at 9, then leave it. I've had my alk go up and down over time and didn't lose anything from it as long as I didn't overreact and change it too rapidly. Having your cal up high like that isn't an issue, just back it off a bit and watch it. Just out of curiosity, what salt are you using and what water changes have you done?
  3. So it's back open again? I thought he pulled the plug and went to his garage or something? Good to hear, I always enjoyed his shop regardless of the old school corals or not. I'll have to stop by soon and check it out. Thanks for the heads up
  4. Float switch just went out after 4+ years of service, lets hope it's $4 replacement holds up as well ????
  5. Check CL for food safe barrels, they can be had for $20-30. Then save it for a water reservoir or mixing barrel later.
  6. Keep an eye on the ATI sub forum on R2R, they sell dent/scratch units at good discounts, even older units sometimes, worth a look.
  7. Phosphates are high and nitrates are zero, I would fix those to be somewhere around .02-.05 phosphate and somewhere in the 1-10 range for nitrate.
  8. It's for sure, bought a 29 gal for a sump yesterday. Don't forget you have to have/use your Pals card or number or it won't ring up with the discount!
  9. Not sure how long they'd last but what about hatching brine shrimp? Super easy and cheap to do. I was feeding them to my corals but my chromies munched on tons of them lol! These were baby brine, not raised to full size. There's also this "auto feeder" option: KollerCraft TOM Hatch 'N Feeder Brine Shrimp Hatchery for Aquariums https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DVREP8/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_BrwcwbJSTFVKT
  10. Just out of curiosity, did you talk to Eric at DA yet? He is really good about helping out with tech support and could help you narrow things down and get things fixed again. I ran my RKL head unit for 3 years before buying archon upgrade with no issues. Only problem I've had with any of my DA equipment is one plug on one PC4 sticks on occasionally. I use my Swabbie on this channel so it's not an issue. If your done with your DA stuff....first bid $10
  11. Never satisfied with the market offerings huh? LOL you are an epic DIYer! Look forward to seeing this develop.
  12. You got that right, Jack the micro tank artist! Lol! So they seem cool with no flow at all?
  13. That fire maul is sick! Those green guys aren't king Midas though, KMs are bright yellow like these in my tank:
  14. Yikes! Yeah I'm definitely only buying local on bulbs from now on.
  15. PM me about it, I'm in Vancouver
  16. If you ever want some neon green Yumas, come get some from me....dang things are everywhere LOL Nice looking nano though! I dig the piece of rock you found for it!
  17. Disclaimer: I always get my bulbs from Jason at OIAB, just happened to have a $40 gift card for Amazon and with the prime account I thought why not give it a shot? I don't blame this on Amazon, they were shipped by "bigflysports" seller. Obviously doesn't know how to pack t5s as they were basically in a long box with bubble wrap at the ends (loose, not taped to bulbs). Now I'm waiting for UPS to come fetch this back so I can get a refund :( . When Jason gets them the box has cardboard hole holders so they can't move around and hit the sides. When I picked up the box I heard the glass jingling noise and knew they were toast. Pulled them out to find this: I took the refund, no sense in having another set of bulbs destroyed :(
  18. Got some knock down, drag out coral fight pics? Weapons of Acro destruction? Post them here! This is about the slowest battle of all time but over the last few months the pink bewbies chalice is "on top" About time to break it up and scoot them LOL
  19. I noticed more issues with my last set when using wave modes (tending to lock up). I run them all constant now. I think the problem with their products is tolerances are too tight. It doesn't take much in the saltwater environment to gunk something up or create build up on a bearing. Once they jam, it's only a matter of time before they burn up. Seems like an over current fuse somewhere would prevent this. DC pump owners should sand inside the ceramic bearing to avoid it locking up. Just my experience with them.
  20. Saw this on R2R, I think they said $200 for the kit. You can buy their App for $15 and it stores your params also. Test strips seemed a little weird to me from an accuracy standpoint but I hope it works out!
  21. I've been happy with my Jebao products. I ran 2x WP40s for 1.5 years with minimal maintenance until they died. I now run 2x RW15s in their place, up for 8 months now. As Lex said, the price difference lets us replace them more often for less money. Only long term wave makers I've heard of are some of the older Tunze ones, which usually run $400+ each and often don't have controllers for that price. Honestly, people have luck with some and not with others. I bought my first RF Dart return thinking "it was the best" and it started making noise after a year and I ended up replacing it with a newer one that has been running solid now for almost 2 years with no problems. Both were new, both were same brand and model. I think more bad batches of equipment come out of China but doesn't mean everything is total junk.
  22. Video works, nice looking tank! Some sweet colonies grown out nicely in there!
