  1. Has anyone ever considered the cost of therapy vs. reef keeping? I know that sitting here right now with this in front of me is worth at least 3 counseling sessions... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get to work! They were both hanging out just fine in the same corner even for the half hour or so I spent fiddling with stuff yesterday after adding them. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  3. It's funny, everyone at work was hoping I'd set it up in a little easier viewing spot. I said no way; I wanted this right in my face so I could enjoy it up close all day without having to get up to really see up close inside. Maybe this will spur an interest for me to get a "company" reef tank that we can write off for therapeutic reasons (just got the idea from Brett!).
  4. Stopped at Upscales and grabbed a yellow watchman goby/pistol shrimp combo, black clown, coral banded shrimp, and a bunch of nasarrius snails, along with some shrooms and zoas I picked up from Rudy this morning. Added a few orange ricordias I fragged from home with some zoas. I'm going to have a hard time not going crazy adding stuff! Have to wait and see how this 7w multi chip led does. 5. I've had that happen too, but never was able to figure out the cause. Seemed like it just melted down from the inside out. I've got a nice healthy clam now though, but I waited a few months before buying it.
  6. Holy smokes, I've never heard of anything like this! I've been comfortably living in this little bubble of healthy corals for the short term here...
  7. Day one of my new cube in my office at work! I'm very impressed with the eheim aquascape package cube complete with corner filter and 7w led light. Just added a heater and korallia nano powerhead and I'm in business. Getting some zoas and shrooms over the weekend. starting with 10 lbs of live rock, 10 lbs of live sand, and 5g of water from home tank. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Sent pm about live rock Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  9. I'd be interested in 10-15 lbs of it if you've got some small to medium size pieces. Gonna set up a Nano!
  10. Sent you a pm but forgot a subject line!
  11. Well I just ordered an 8 gallon Nano tank to set up at work. It's the Aqueon Evolve. A coworker pointed out to me that I actually sit at my desk longer each day than at home, so why not! Initially was thinking African Cichlids (Lake Tanginika), but I think saltwater with a clown, bicolor blenny, and some live rock would be pretty sweet. Pics once I get it and start setting it up.
  12. Here's mine. Not much growth, but its still alive which in and of itself makes me pretty happy! Before and after pics btw, am I the first idiot to get super glue on their teeth and tongue trying to clear the tip with a coral in your hand? . Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I've got an Aquamaxx 150 skimmer with a Sedra 7000 pinwheel pump you could borrow. I don't know that it's big enough by itself. I also have an ETSS 600 downdraft with an Ecoplus 1267 pump that might do the trick by itself. You're welcome to borrow either or both. The ETSS is at Frank's so I'd need to grab that from him.
  14. At Brett's advice (after seeing his spectacular tanks!), I started dosing Kent Coral-Vite and Brightwell Potassion a little over a month ago, and Salifert Coraline Amino Acid about 2 months ago. Dosing per beginners instruction. My SPS growth and expansion has been exponential over the last month. I'm also only 2 months into Radium MH switchover from OIAB led's. I think the Coral-Vite might be the key here because I've tried the elos aminos and pro skimmer in the past and didn't really notice anything. Who knows though; this all seems to be a big crapshoot with high an low points for all of us along the way. I can only dream of keeping up the success of the last month long term.
  15. I've got an autotopoff dual set up with electric solenoid running my RO/DI direct to sump. Their electric solenoid is a POS though (3 failures in 9 months), and I found a much better model through Grainger or the like that I could recommend. Power on 10 minutes or so 4-5 times a day and you're set. Constant water level definitely makes huge difference for skimmer performance.
  16. Thanks all. I think I've heard enough that I'm not at all interested in taking the chance.
  17. My daughter really loves puffer fish, and I guess I do too. Are there any that are considered reef safe or reef appropriate? 90g tank with a couple of Tangs and wrasses already Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  18. Matt, you might want to show just pictures of what you've got left. I can't see that you've got any left based on the list of purchases, but then again I've had a couple...
  19. PM sent on the $15 pink cats paw and the Joe the Coral frag. Wow Kate, you've got a regular operation going on there it looks like...
  20. Yes, that was definitely a LOL awesome video! That's a pretty slick fish trap that I'd never thought of. I need to build one of those to catch my maroon clown, since I can't find a miniature spear gun system anywhere on the internet :-)
  21. Share the love! Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  22. I've got an older ETSS downdraft skimmer that I've got out on loan to Frank while he was transitioning tanks. It's from before they started naming them with numbers, but is basically their ETSS 600. I've got an ECOplus 1267 pump to go with it.
  23. Dude, the new tank layout and rockwork look awesome, but that absolutely sucks to loose all that livestock! Thanks for sharing your two mistakes; I would not have thought about the rocks out of the water.
