  1. Funny story. When my IT guy tells me something I'm asking for is impossible, I always counter with "Dude, I can watch porn on my cell phone so don't tell me anything is impossible"! Not that I watch porn on my cell phone... There are tons of controllers and components out there for Building Automation Systems (BAS), and I believe that what's put together and marketed specifically for aquariums is quite affordable in comparison.
  2. My very first contest entry of any kind! 17.5" below 250 watt radiums and (2) actinic VHO's Dose 2 part brs, Kent coral vite, salifert coral amino, potassium, strontium, gfo, macro algae in sump. Feed lots of fish food, reef chili for corals. Sicce 2800 Voyager powerheads on wavemaker on opposite sides of tank. 90G with 25G sump and Aquamaxx 150 skimmer. Reeflo Blowhole 1100 return pump with waveysea return at front of tank. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  3. I can't wait to see this this weekend!
  4. And the chiller? It looks like you added some stuff today that wasn't there before
  5. http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/fan_tray.html. Good link on a little DIY fan assembly. I bought my fans at Fry's for SIGNIFICANTLY less than the aquarium specific ones, but they don't have temp sensors or power cords. You just need a 12V wall bug to power up to 3 of them. Sounds like you'd need them to run 24/7 anyway if you're that hot overnight. I'll caution you on their 120V models; I tried them and they were way too loud. You're going to want something less than 20dB rating in your living room.
  6. I've got some whisper quiet 4" computer fans that would probably help tremendously for your heating issue. I'd recommend one or two in the hood and another in the sump area pulling air out. That high of a temp seems pretty odd; I'd be checking your pumps to see that they're not ultra hot. Even a simple 6" office fan across the top of the sump or across the tank surface would help tremendously as well.
  7. I've got (8) that I bought a couple months ago from Salty Underground (who I would highly recommend for all kinds of livestock). I've got an aptasia eating filefish (that didn't touch the aptasia) and a couple of wrasses, so I thought for sure these nudi's were gone the next day. However, my tank is free of aptasia for the first time in years and I saw a nudi on the glass last night. I should have scooped it and offered it up. In fact I'm going to keep an eye out and do just that if I see one on the glass again.
  8. Crap, I think I'm number 10. How about #2 on the backup list?
  9. Hells Yes!!! Count me in! I like the part where I get to grow it out for a year and pretend like the whole thing is mine!
  10. What is reef corals in Beaverton? Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk
  11. You definitely have a very loving and patient wife for letting all that go in the living room for as long as you did. It's looking good! I think you're going to need to do something more for a skimmer though...
  12. Sweet! Thanks for responses everyone
  13. Anyone know if this crab is a good or bad hitchhiker? Its white, tiny, with a black visor looking stripe across top of head. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk
  14. Sweet! I knew you were jones'n for a bigger tank. That looks like a cool setup. I've been realizing how much I like the cube look with a reef setup. Sent from my HTC Liberty using Tapatalk
  15. My two favorite fish of all time, that I replace any time one dies or whatever, are midas blenny and bicolor blenny. Huge amounts of character and personality, plus I think they're pretty cool looking. I tried a bluespot goby, but never saw him again after I put him in the tank.
  16. Awesome growth! I'm excited because I've got a 2" frag of it I just got from Cos last weekend, so I'm hopeful I get the same kind of results. I think it was MadMike in the shop when I was there too?
  17. #1 suggestion is to go the extra couple bucks and get a 90G. Same footprint, so stand doesn't change. That extra 4" of height is huge, just like that depth front to back going from a 55 to 75.
  18. Wow, that should be very cool. It's funny, when friends ask how big my tank is I respond with small. I guess 90G is small in comparison, but takes most people by surprise when they see it! A 300G would be so incredible, but I'd need a home equity line of credit to stock it!
  19. I'm about to spend $40 on the giant jug of Aptaisia X, but thinking I should invest in one of these instead. It would be very cool if the club bought a few and rented them out.
  20. That's a cool size for a tank. If this is temporary, what's your built in going to be?
  21. Definitely a hard one to explain to your non-fishtank friends! My brother screamed when he had to pay $50 for a new pump in his little outdoor water fountain!
  22. I can't believe I'm sitting here about to justify $450 for a freakin powerhead! 3 months ago (before PNMAS) I wouldn't have DREAMED of it.
  23. I'm struggling with this same dilemma. I really need to listen to one of the MP40's in action in an otherwise quiet scenario. My tank is in my living room, and I enjoy the fact that it is pretty quiet. I've heard (only via forums) that the MP40 is noisy, and the Tunze Streams are dead quiet.
