  1. Does anyone in the Vancouver area have some cheato they could trim? Looking to start a fuge now that I have a new sump. Thanks.
  2. Yep, Tom sold me my first tank! Great place and people.
  3. He's in West Linn, great guy to deal with.
  4. My little office nano! My home tank is going through a little re-do.
  5. I followed the guide on their site, my recommendation is don't let the ammonia get to high, it stalls the cycle. It worked well for me after I figured out what was wrong.
  6. Tried to PM you but your in box is full.
  7. Where has everyone had the best luck with dry rock ordering? And once you get it, what's the best way to assure no leaching, acid bath, soaking in RO, all of the above? Might I be better going with actual live rock? I'm going to break down my current tank and put all of my coral in my office tank. The algae issues I have had since starting with my current rock have caused me to lose to many hairs and I'm done! I will be re-homing my fish, except my golden moray, he will go in a larger temp tank. I will start fresh with whatever rock I decide on and bare bottom, my tank at work has no sand. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Oh and I'm not interested in re-using my current rock, I don't like the shapes. Thanks.
  8. I have always wanted one.....hmm
  9. I think if you're using a closed loop it might be worth it for the random flow, also being controlled through an Apex would be nice. As a standard single speed return pump, it's just fancy but doesn't make the flow better. Time will tell though.
  10. You can buy a cheap analog volt meter, put the probe I the water and start unplugging things until you see the voltage on the meter drop to zero.
  11. Nice! Can't wait to see pics.
  12. Loosing friends or potential relations over a discussion like this is just silly, everyone has the right to their own opinion and should be allowed to voice it. If someone takes that stance and rejects another for their views, their loss. I don't see why the thread needs to be locked. The discussion has been a good one and kept very civil, it does no harm remaining open as long as that continues to be the way it goes. I love reefing too and spend a lot of my time on this site, but I also like to have discussions about social issues. Since I spend most of my internet time on fish forums, it's nice to have discussions other than reefing in the same place as long as they stay civil.
  13. I have a 30 something tank, it's an oceanic that you are welcome to.
  14. What rights have you had taken from you?
  15. The amount of damage you can do with a knife before you are stopped doesn't compare to that of a gun. Bombs have always been used and their components have been regulated and kept track of, no one bitched about that except farmers. For the record, I very much agree that we need to address the issue of mental illness, depression, and other factors contributing to these shootings but I also think an honest discussion about the role guns play in these events is another front to start on.
  16. Conservatives in this country have argued with the main point of "they will take all of our guns away" for years, yet that hasn't happened and it won't. If making guns harder to get for people who have no business having them helps save even one life, why not try? It won't affect those people who legally own and carry guns, only those with something to hide. The sides in this argument come down to 2 types of people, those who will allow change and those who find change scary. The founding fathers argument is not valid in my opinion, they could have never foreseen where weapons technology and mental stability and health would be so many years in the future. It's time to adapt our laws and rules to the present.
  17. Wanted to give an update since I'm a slacker and don't do that much. Tank is plugging along, finally starting to get the algae issues under control and things are growing. I lost my Jawfish yesterday, he just up and died. I had never seen one as big as him so I honestly wonder if it wasn't old age. I also lost the wall hammer, it just started melting one day after being healthy and happy I finally started using my calcium reactor and levels seem to be stable as ever. I ended up buying an Aquarium Plants carbon doser after the regulator I had quit working a few times. Here are a few quick pictures I snapped last night: I think I can attribute better water quality to finally getting the Curve5 skimmer dialed in, look at this nastiness!
  18. I have guns, I grew up with them and have always been around them but I still believe it's time for a sensible discussion about them. The argument always comes down to "you can't tell me what to do" while nothing changes and people keep dying. Taking away guns is not the answer, making them more difficult to get on a whim might help. The other discussion that needs to happen is one about the appalling lack of mental health care in this country. The bottom line is people are dying, anything discussion or change that might help stop that is worth trying, what we got going now sure isn't working.
  19. It's hard to justify the price when control-ability is really the only benefit to them, especially since I can already control my Ecotech pumps (and many others already on the market) with my Apex. I'm sure they are great pumps, and I think they would be a good choice for first time purchasers but not really a replacement for what people are already using.
  20. Right at 3k for mine, that's just the equipment! Edit: I forgot about the 6 stage Ro/Di I just bought $329!
  21. I had the power supply go out on this light so I had to remove it from the tank while I waited on a new one. During that time, I put on an AI Prime I had and have come to like the control a bit better than the Nanobox so I have decided to sell the NanoBox. I have the new power supply. Here is some info on it: http://nanoboxreef.com/mini.htmlit is the version with the lime led's. The light is Purple and white but you can remove the case and paint it whatever color you want. Pictures are here: http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/34233-my-new-office-nano/ Asking $150 and I can ship for an extra $10. Thanks.
