  1. I know it's a long shot but wanted to check locally first. Anyone have a quiet drive Mp10 they would like to trade for my Gyre? I'm willing to take a non quiet drive if I can hear it run before we trade. I'm also willing to add cash for the right deal. Thanks.
  2. Here is a pic of when I first set the skimmer up This was from this morning, this is 4 days of skim I will post better pics when the other skimmer gets here and I get the DC pump installed. I will pull the Sicce and give it a bath.
  3. So I was recently able to upgrade my return pump to a DC and my skimmer to the skimmer I have always wanted. These will soon need to go, the pump will be ready by Friday and the skimmers when my new skimmer gets here next week. I will post pictures soon but wanted to get this started to see if any interest. I have included links with info for both items. I have 2 BM Curve 5 skimmers, 1 I currently use and the other for spare. The spare has a pump that the previous owner described as finicky, I never tried it so I don't know, it may just be dirty. These are great skimmers, great performers and quiet, I would keep them if I didn't buy what I hope will be my last skimmer. I want to sell both for $150 http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?idproduct=4W05001&child=4W05001&utm_source=adwordsfroogle&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=adwordsfroogle&utm_content=4W05001&gclid=CJKfgoLAmc0CFUdrfgod8h4CFg The pump is a Sicce Syncra 4.0. This is a solid pump and very quiet, I just prefer DC pumps. $100 http://www.marinedepot.com/Sicce_Syncra_Silent_Multifunction_Aquarium_Pump_Up_to_500_Gallons_Per_Hour_Submersible_Aquarium_Pumps-Sicce_USA-XJ1131-FIWPSBUF-vi.html I have priced these pretty fair I think but I'm open to offers. No trades at this time, thanks.
  4. I have a Mp10qd but it's not wireless. If you have any interest in working out a trade let me know.

    1000 gallon tank

If you look here http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/37143-april-meeting-oregon-coast-aquariumhatfield-behind-the-scenes-tours/at post #22 you can see the large round tanks Sid uses at the Marine Science building. I don't know anything about cost or size but Sid might be able to answer those questions. They had windows like portholes in the sides for viewing and one contained sharks which seemed to be happy in them. Just a thought.
  6. I believe It's the ad banners at the top, they load and it does that.
  7. I understand they listened to customers and what they wanted, but I think those customers meant as an upgrade to the $1k system they already have, not a new system all together I'm just glad they still used aquabus cables and didn't try to pull an Apple and give it a newly designed cable. The addition of salinity is nice but is probably part of the reason it's the price of the gold package currently available. I will stick with what I have but this is a very nice system for those entering the controller world, I just hope they keep the Jr. for those people that want an entry level controller. If they faze out the old style and go strictly to this new system, they will lose a huge chunk of the market who can't or won't spend that kinda money to try a controller.
  8. The problem for new controller companies is the foothold that Neptune has in the market. I haven't ever met an unhappy apex owner and unless they have a Jr., most probably won't switch. I personally have to much invested in mine and have no reason to switch, my apex works perfectly. That said, I hope to see other controllers come to the market for those people just starting, more choices and hopefully good working ones at a more affordable price. Competition will also be good for existing Neptune customers, maybe more expansion and lower prices to stay competitive.
  9. I'm pretty good at cooking And I enjoy drinking good beer while doing it.
  10. I run half and half in mine, it works well except for the sponges. I don't like IM's sponges so I ordered the BRS ones and cut them to size.
  11. Apex for me is more than the programming, it's also about the customer service and knowledge base. I bought a reefangel and hated it. I tried to get help on line and it was very frustrating, that was years ago so it may be different now. I also owned a Reefkeeper and hated it also, especially their customer service. I love my Apex, I bought mine used and saved a ton of money. I have always been able to find help with any issue and have even had neptune take over my computer to fix an issue I had for me. I would recommend getting what you want the first time around though. Jr's are nice and do all that you need now but are limited out of he box without having to spend $ on modules. I bought a gold package because of the price, I almost sold the extra EB8 and I'm glad I didn't, I'm about to start using it. The controllers fill up fast once you start learning how much you can actually do with them
  12. I spliced them, works great!
  13. It's a Hamilton pendent and Reefbrite ballast. 250w MH.
  14. Can I cut these 2 ends off and hard wire them? One is from the ballast and one is from the pendent. Maybe there's an adapter I can buy? Thanks.
  15. How bad is the Ich? I have had it in a few of my tanks and never had my fish die from it. Many times fish will pull through with good water quality and a good mix of food.
  16. Is a layer stripped off or is the white a layer on top of the rock? If it's on the rock, is it hard or soft to the touch?

You would need 2 for a standard 29 but Biocube's are cubish. Prime spread 20x20x18-20" Biocube dimensions 20x21x18.5 You also have the back chambers that make the actual lit area smaller.

I loved my prime, easy to use and very bright. I only sold it because I took down my office tank. I honestly think you would be fine with one.
