  1. Supposed to be ready today. @Emerald525 - Can you see if the stands are ready yet? I'm at the coast until tomorrow/Sunday night, so could only go pick them up in the eve - or Monday. Unless @reefrun you've got someone who can get them for you and drop them off. Don't want you burning any covid-recovery energy on this. For anyone who gets a frag from ReefRun this weekend, I'll have stands at my place (97229/west side of town) next weekend if you want them right away. For anyone picking up a frag Next weekend from me, they'll come with the stand.
  2. How big is the wrasse - I've got one, and although it wouldn't be idea, I'll bet I could house it in a 20gal for a couple of months. Either just put gravel in your 20G, until your done. Or, I've seen people fill a tuperware container with gravel in it into a bare bottom tank for Wrasses to sleep in. It sure feels like you've got room to keep those two fish.
  3. I take back my comment, Peppermint shrimp ARE available. SaltwaterAquarium.com has them on sale. 12 are $88, right now. According to my experience, I needed at least 24. https://www.saltwateraquarium.com/captive-bred-peppermint-shrimp-12-lot-lysmata-sp-ora-chicago/
  4. Another option is simply sell the fish, or the ones you feel can't be kept in your 20g medication tank. Heck, the $ selling the fish may pay for the peppermint shrimp. You could also offer them as a trade for shrimp from a local store. There is one kink in my suggestions here... Florida has been hit by hurricanes and my internet search yesterday found all peppermint shrimp "out of stock." (I've gotten all mine from Florida sellers in the past.) Maybe another reason to make a deal with a fish shop. They are able to check wholesalers/etc that I couldn't. Just offering an option, in case it's Aptasia that are driving you to get rid of the tank.
  5. We're kind of limited on time. Thought was to do a form of blind gift exchange (of dry goods). Define a cost limit. For everyone who brings one, give them a token. an hour later, let those with tokens take their pick of the one of the blind packages brought. Forgot to say, ask everyone to bring their gift WRAPPED. When they go to pick a gift, they'll know which wrapping is their own, and dont have to pick it. Kind of a one-pass, and done, topic. But, If you're running it... You make the rules that make you happy!
  6. I've fought a massive Aptasia infestation, and Won. (thread below) The recipe, modified for you IN TANK treatment; Aptasia Death, by peppermint shrimp -- IN DISPLAY TANK Take couple dozen peppermint shrimp (I used 26) Remove all fish from tank Don't feed the tank. No food, No Food, No Food. Death by hungry Peppermint Shrimp! (This will likely take a full Month to work. More peppermint shrimp, mean faster time) Punch line, you need peppermint shrimp to be hungry. Aptasia is their food. And after you can't see any aptasia, give the shrimp an extra week (or two) to go after the smaller/not visible remains.
  7. I'm dangling a lot of things off my Apex. Use it for multiple temp probes, multiple pH probes, mixing stuff, lights, power heads. Two different tiers of heaters, for when the nights get Really cold, another bank of heaters kicks in. (sump is in the garage)
  8. Mine is an off the shelf standard rack. Then I enlarged the upper holes. Then I put blue tape upside down to hold the caps in place to dry.
  9. Can you give me a more specific name to look up, or a link. I googled Acrylic Factory near Seattle and no go. This is an option for me. looking for like 12". It's not a frag tank, it's going to be a fixed height station to put a skimmer in. Sounds like Glass. Thanks, but I'm looking for something I can cut/reshape if needed.
  10. I'm looking for a used acrylic aquarium for an equipment room experiment. I'm flexible on size and condition. Tank must have a minimum 22"x22" footprint. Could easily use a 4' x 2' tank. Even if it's scratched, may even be able to use a cracked tank. Tell me what you have.
  11. Fantastic! Towards the end, I want to see a pict of your frag, set in context of your whole display tank.
  12. Here's what my test kit organizer looks like; Okay, maybe inside... And I made a little drying rack to keep the Hanna vials upside down. Does anyone else use a Unitary Wash Bottle full of RO to perform your final rinse? I suspect you can find it cheaper, but this is a good reference picture.
  13. I'm in! Better start making the next batch of frags. I'm sure we'll need them.
  14. I did a bunch of DIY back in the day... No CNC machine, mostly with a hack saw and a file. Yours looks much better. Thanks for sharing.
  15. That's a generous offer for anyone in the area.
  16. There's room. And room for more to join! Come on everyone. Let's do this, it will be fun!
  17. I had this algae take over my display tank years ago. Requested some wisdom from the internet (okay, Usenet for those who know what that was) - and bingo. A new unicorn tang made short work of it. The flip side, this algae is beautiful! I just wasn't happy when it was over growing the corals. Otherwise, I would love to grow it.
  18. Harvest #23 complete continued nice and dark/thick/rich grow outs
  19. Okay, revised answer. Switch to Seachem Reef Iodide LIQUID. bought mine on Amazon. I used Lugols from BRS earlier, switched here at R.Moonshiner recommendation. (saying it's more consistent) Looking at the list, here's my read of priority iodine Molybdnum strontium Nickel & Zinc - Mine has been low for 3 months, added the recommended amounts, still low. Not sure what it means Dailies - I believe my tank is looking better because I'm putting in five elements every ~day. (miss a day or two, no big deal) Drops are for my 350 gal system. iodine (2drops) Iron (2drops) Chrome (5drops) Cobalt (5drops) Manganese (27drops) I feel I'm getting better results adding these at Smaller doses, more often. (~daily) -- Per the manual. For ICP testing, recommendation is ATI-ICP branded tests. I send one is every ~month. (usually becomes every 5 weeks) BTW, dont want to spend $20/ea for iron/chrome/cobalt - come over again, I'll share some. You will need dropper bottles. (Got mine on Amazon) You'll want this for the Iodine, so you can dose daily - if you go this route.
  20. I use the reef moonshiners system on my tank. https://www.reefmoonshiners.com/ Simple "send in a ATI ICP Sample", "type results into excel sheet", "follow directions of elements to add, or stop". Ignore the branded chemicals/etc. What I like is the Comment section of the excel sheet, that gives me perspective on what each ICP test result might mean. (Optimal range/acceptable range - don't touch, slightly below target of X, Considered fully depleted - so something about it. A value of zero is expected, because it's consumed so fast. But you still need to add small amounts regularly...) The recommended brand of ICP test is ATI (all written up in the handbook, on the website). Never the less, I typed your values into the sheet - to see what the interpretation per element offered. Of your readings, Iodine jumps out at me. I don't like being this far out of range - it's considered depleted. Everytime I've done this, my tank does bad stuff. On my 350gallon system, I add two drop of Lugals liquid every day. BTW, I've been low on each of the items you flagged too. And corrected them over the months. I offer this excel just as another way of interpreting the results. reef_moonshiners_assessment_tool_rev.2 -- John Vinson Nov22.xlsx
  21. two drops in ~2 liters seem about right?
  22. Thanks for the explanation of your process. I'll try it. Why do I wait 48hrs? It looked like my hatch rate wasn't enough at 24hrs, so i started a 2nd hatchery and harvest them every other day. I'm going to try @islandVib3s suggestion of adding two drops of bleach to the hatch water. My hatch volume is about 1.7liters. (2liter soda bottle, not fully filled)
  23. Can you tell us about what your doing culturing brine? I hatch brine eggs, but harvest and feed to the tank ~48hrs after starting. Do you grow them out - how long before you harvest and feed the fish, what do you feed the live brine to grow them out. How often do you have to change the grow out water? photo or diagram of setup?
