  1. Happy Holidays to the CNC crew! Thanks for helping to keep this hobby exiting and fun.
  2. @cjmdh - do you want to edit the title, to say Berlin?
  3. I'm an Apex user. My ATO is the full setup. I've heard others talk about Tunze being a good stand alone ATO.
  4. Honest answer for you... Because many people, including the Dick Mac's Dino facebook guide simply said "Does Phyto, it's good." Yes, trying to feed pods, yes trying to feed healthy biome, ... Because it was on the Good List, and I went for everything "Good." Quote from Dealing With Dinos, RevE I can't tell if Phyto has affected my nutrient levels. I can say I've done a lot of things to get my nutrients up (heavy feeding, phyto, baby brine shrimp, ...) And I've succeeded - NO3 (>100) & PO4 (>0.3) are way up. And I've never had my corals growing so fast. But I'm now trying to Very Slowly bring them back down. I can't say nutrients alone are the reason for good coral growth, chemistry is under control with Moonshiners, lighting seems good, tank is stable. Things growing. But do want nutrients lower. Time Window. For a while I added every day before going to work, which meant in the dark. Then switched to when I get home, lights on. But then tank is murky while I'm home, less enjoyable. So I'm back to in the morning/dark.
  5. One subtle detail to highlight. The water chamber your return pump is in, is the only place water evaporation shows up. The smaller you make this box, the more important your ATO (auto-top off) system is. My personal preference is to make this chamber as large as possible. Think of the scenario where you scoop a gallon of water out of your tank, in order to bag up a fish or coral and transport them somewhere. Do you have enough water in the return pump chamber so the level can drop - but pump doesn't run dry? (Of course, you'll put a gallon of freshly made salt water back in.) Same scenario, but you syphon out 5 gallons of tank water to do a water change. Does that chamber have an extra 5 gallons so you can leave the return pump running, or are you forced to turn it off. This is my preference for sump proportioning.
  6. Where are you moving from, and to? (which cities)
  7. But who needs to "Subscribe" to needing regular Eheim impeller replacements?!
  8. Follow up, for anyone looking at this thread in the future. The winner was posted here...
  9. Jae - do you want to describe what you're interesting in more. Are you looking for a fully setup and running turn-key system? Are you looking for bare bones, tank only - which you'll do everything else to you have a 40gal today. What size are you looking for? gallons and/or physical size I'm sure there's options out there for you.
  10. My amazon prime message is, order now, arrives by Thursday... (If you look at the graphic carefully, last time I bought one was 2013. Eheims last forever!) https://smile.amazon.com/Eheim-7509-Impeller-1048-Universal/dp/B0002DH2YC/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Eheim+1048&qid=1670947058&rdc=1&sr=8-2
  11. Great to see everyone yesterday. Here's a few snaps I took.
  12. Congratulations on your grand prize win. I'd like to point out, this is one heck of a genuine smile of happiness!
  13. Harvest #25 complete (Dec 10th) Learning - harvested slightly over 2 weeks. But didn't add mid-grow fertilizer kicker. Harvest is fine, but not as dark-dark grow the last two have been. extra fert isn't required, but help Before After Storage
  14. That's pretty awesome info! Thanks for sharing
  15. "Fluffy Sticks"- now that's a well created name. Yesterday my friend @Stephen Sturges bought a a "frag" at Cuttlefish's anniversary sale that I've titled, "Mound of Potential!" sps. It was super well encrusted, and ready to sprout - but hasn't yet.
  16. I'm amending my creative thinking. If I've gotten my monies worth out of the item, and am done with hit. Yet it's still perfectly fine, functional, etc - then it's effectively worth <$10 me, and I'm bringing it. If you want to know what I'm bringing, guess you'll have to bring something yourself and play along.
  17. Okay, I've got another entry to offer for high end approval. Upscales Microclados. ~2" frag, cut in august, well grown out and completely covering frag plug. Frag: Mother Colony, fully healed.
  18. Welcome! Reach out to @Lexinverts if you like acros. He's in Corvallis, and recently posted an update on his tank.
  19. Perfect general discussion topic. Sounds like you've got an interesting build already.
  20. I don't see many replies. I'm bringing a reefing related white elephant gift. I may be creative how I interpret the $10 limit. If I didn't actually Pay more than $10, then I'm thinking it qualifies. Hmm, hmm... Mystery Dry Box time!
  21. That's one nice looking tank. I've said it before, I'm a Stag Fan and yours look great. Maybe we need a version of the tank shots, with labels naming the corals. BTW, is that a little cowry I see at the bottom of one of the close up shots. beautiful
  22. Start a build thread when you start setting up your tank. Tell us what you've picked, why you picked the equipment you chose, and how you're hoping to run the tank. And then the blow-by-blow (purchase-by-purchase) of stocking it and bringing it up to glory. Looking forward to seeing it.
  23. Low nutrients... I had that problem in 2021. Kept zeroing out. Kicked my butt.
