Averaging before acting is a solid plan. I have a second brand of Alk test on hand and once in a while pull it out to make sure I can get a similar result using two different methods. Human error can be another factor on top of measurement error of the test itself.

Those bubble tips look great. Brings back to mind the BRS clown harem tank that was up for a while.

Glad you caught it before things got worse. When I let my tank go fallow last year I had a situation where nitrates dropped to zero also. The difference was that I didn't have cyano and the phosphates dropped to zero too because of a big refugium. I didn't catch it as quick as you and I lost a few corals.

I haven't heard about using KCl as a dip... Does it work well?

I have payment confirmed for the following.

I thought Reef Crystals mixed up a lot higher than that. Any chance the test kit is off? Have you taken a sample in to the store to see if you can get the same reading they do?

This site says 13 dkh. There is a good thread somewhere on Reef2Reef where people compare parameters of salt mix over time.

Welcome! Stable alkalinity is something that is really beneficial to coral. Are you dosing 2 part solutions or just calcium in some form?

That video is interesting. They sort of gloss over the part about adding back in trace elements, but do say that it happens.

I think it has rotated over the years and usually been the treasurer or presidents address. For our bank accounts and the non profit filling I've listed my address this year. Do you need my address for something?

It was interesting to see some of the variation. I'm not sold on higher dkh is always better. The coloration difference was interesting.
