Since I got no useful feedback on R2R, perhaps some sympathetic club member has some advice. I am wondering why many people run a pump periodically to circulate the salt mix once the salt is thoroughly dissolved. Any ideas?Second question: If a closed loop is set up with canister filter and pump, would that reduce the brown precipitate that forms in the salt mix tank? It is extremely inconvenient for me to clean out the bottom of the tank every two to three months. I saw some set up on BRS earlier but cannot find it now.

I went to Outputs, then NSW/OSW to get Schedule. Then hit gearbox to get Interval information which I used for the screen shots. Just finished following your dashboard set up instructions. Success. Thanks for the guidance. Yes, the Tasks were super easy as you said. But after doing this with Tasks for one gallon, I went back to Fusion, Outlets, NSW (and OSW) and the Schedule looked exactly like I had set up before. I will put a catch bucket under the old salt water drain line now and see tomorrow if anything changes.

I have all the APEX automation gear for my first sizeable tank and now I want to put it all into action. COR 20, 2 each DOS, 2 each WAVs (all via 1Links), Tunze ATO, Octo 110 skimmer, 25 watt AquaUV, Kamoer FX-stp running ARID Pax Bellum 24, KLIR7 filter roller, heater, and Vertex Ex-C 6D Calcium Reactor. So far, I am using the EB8 outlets via Fusion to turn on and off the return pump, two power heads, heater and skimmer. But I cannot get the AWC up and running. I have calibrated the DOS, and programmed it for 10 gallons a week per Apex instructions. But the program does not run. Attached are the DOS profiles. Every time I read the Get Started Guide and the DOS Users Manual, I get more confused. For example, there are these Testing your Pump and Profile instructions which I want to follow: "Using the web pages, modify a spare profile and enter the following data: Profile Name – ‘dostst’ Control Type – Select ‘Dose’ Dose Rate – 60 mL Per Dose Amount (mL) – 5 Dose Interval (s) – 31 Number of Doses – 2." But I don't know what a "web page" is and do not know how to find a spare profile. My next step is to reread the Comprehensive Reference Manual and all your Tutorials for the fourth or fifth time. Hopefully now that I am actually trying to run the stuff, I will better understand what I am reading. School's nearly out, now the real APEX world is in front of me.

Oh, what a shock to learn that your dream tank has rapidly gone downhill. And even worse to see that the club's skilled aquarists have experienced the same. Thanks, I am looking at the Nikon 105 or the Sigma 90. I struggled being too close with my 30 gallon AOI (even with a budget tripod), but now that I am adding coral to my new 125 gallon, I might be able to get the lens right up to the glass for a steady shot.

With 24" x 48" tank, 24" deep, the lighting is from ATI Powermodule, and I think I had the light too close. PAR readings were 240 at each lower corner and 360 midlevel center. However, the few corals I had introduced at this point have not bleached out. In any case, I am raising the light up significantly to see if the algae buildup lessens. I also have GFO on order.

I can deal with daily cleaning of glass, but now the growth has accelerated so that there is a solid film only one hour after a thorough cleaning. So, in spite of zero phosphate readings, and no apparent algae on the rocks or sand, I assume the phosphate is hiding in the water column and providing a banquet for the algae. I took steps early on to ensure the rocks held no phosphate, but maybe I missed something. Next step, slap on a GFO reactor.

Beautiful work. I am thinking about a macro lens and wondering: How close are you to the subject? Can you set the lens front on the side glass? Specifically, what is the distance from the subject to the focal plane?

My new 120 gallon tank after four months is well into the maturing stage. At one point, there was a mass of long green algae. After the CUC and fish were added, the algae went away, presumably eaten. Now I am suffering from a very visible green film forming on the glass within 24 hours of cleaning. NItrates are three and phosphates are zero. kH of 7.2, calcium of 430, salinity of 1.025 and temp of 77.0F. Lighting is from a hybrid ATI with measured PAR of 2-325. Is this film a normal stage of a maturing tank?

Do you have a program schedule file that would work well for a mixed reef in a JBJ 30 gallon AIO cube? That would make the set up super easy. Also, I do not see documentation/instructions on your website. Does the light come with it?
