  1. Oh my gosh, I'm laughing so hard. "Breaker 1 - 9, breaker 1 - 9." The PNWMAS Convoy. I'm getting me a tanker truck of $2.99 emerald crabs.
  2. What time are you guys thinking about leaving Portland?
  3. Welcome to the forum! You can find lots of info on here about reasonably-priced LEDs, some of which that will even grow SPS! Take lots of pictures along the way. We all love to see tanks coming together from the ground up. Looking forward to hearing more about what you're putting together!
  4. Gil and Fin were my first two fish. Gil (as in gills on a fish...) was the most awesome-ist clownfish evah, but a lost him a few months back. I've been in counseling about it since then, so I can't really talk about it. [emoji12] Fin is my cranky old bangaii cardinal ("Fin," get it? Bangaiis have lots of fins...hehehe). [emoji6] This all sounds kind of silly now that I'm saying it outloud. I should have just kept everyone wondering... [emoji15]
  5. Yes, I'm totally excited. They are having a raffle for a trip to Fuji, which I'm planning on winning. Just sayin'. If I miss out on that one, I will win one of the new Mindstream monitoring systems. Can't wait. In any case, there are lots of speakers/workshops I'm excited about. I thought it would be fun to meet up with any PNWMAS members who are there.
  6. MACNA (Marine Aquarium Conference of North America) is in Washington DC over the labor day weekend (Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6) this year. Anyone going?
  7. Exodus, could you post some pics? I'm having a hard time envisioning the rounded corners.
  8. Kim, I'm mad at you for making that comment. Plus I thought that that information was covered by doctor-patient privilege. Jorge, I'm mad at you for liking it. [emoji3]
  9. That sight always makes me pee my pants a little. Congrats, Jorge! I'm sure you got some great stuff and had some fun to boot.
  10. Welcome, Matt! I can't wait to see some pictures of your tank.
  11. I've done some research and I thought these images from a scientific article might be helpful in identification of these predatory creatures.
  12. Ha ha..."Fish related" ? Did you just find a loophole in the rules? I'm on to you! This might fit better in Out of Bounds.
  13. Hey! No hijacking! Let's resume talking about how awesome my tank is and all will be forgiven.
  14. Update Equipment: Tank is coming together nicely. AI Prime looks great on the tank and I like that the spectrum is so adjustable--I just haven't got it to my liking yet. I'll keep at it. The protein skimmer is in, too. Reef Octopus 150. It fits perfectly in the sump. So far, so good. I have a Reef Octopus on my frag tank and like it a lot. With the great pricing, it was a no-brainer for me. Livestock: I'm done stocking now. I've got two PJ cardinals, a domino clown, and a Valentini puffer. I also have a snowflake eel that is really cool. He's out all the time, but he's growing fast so I'm not sure how long I will be able to keep him. The puffer is a crap shoot. I've always wanted a puffer, but I like my corals. I've read Valentini's are fine with corals, but I've also read they wreak havoc. [Don't you love the internet???] Practically overnight he destroyed my acans, but he hasn't touched anything else (so far). If he does, I'll probably remove the coral--not him. I'm lucky to have multiple tanks because I have some flexibility moving things around. Corals/anemones: I've got mostly softies, but a little of everything in there--nothing high-end (see puffer discussion above ). Softies--zoas, pipe organs, kenya, singularia, devil's hand, tons of mushrooms. LPS--candy cane, hammer, plate. SPS--birdsnest, stylos, montipora. Anemones--gotta have my anemones--rainbow, green, and rose. Play a game with your kids and see if you can find all four fish in this picture-- I'm really happy with this turn-key set-up. It was a lucky find. I understand Jeff/Cuttlefish was able to get another one in stock. Highly recommended.
  15. Thanks for the heads-up, Mike! I'll check it out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Jorge! Don't throw those out! I'll take them. I use Red Sea Pro too. I might change someday but right now things are looking good for me and so for consistency I'll keep doing what I am doing. I'm not saying that Red Sea Pro is great. I get very frustrated that results change from regent to reagent. When one starts running out I have to use both the old and new to adjust for the new number. For example, two reagents ago I was running about 8.7. With the next bottle that 8.7 came out 8.1, so that was my new number and I supplemented to that number. This latest one is 9.0. That's where I keep it. It's not a perfect system but it seems to be working right now.
  17. I love this! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I don't think I've ever been able to take a picture of my tank without my flame hawk photo-bombing. Looks like that is a trait associated with the entire species. We should do a separate thread entitled, "Pictures of My Flame Hawk That Weren't Supposed to Be of My Flame Hawk." I bet we'd get a number of submissions!
  19. I bet they will have a big presence at MACNA in September. I don't know if anyone else is planning on being there, but I will definitely report back what I learn.
  20. Well he probably saw you and hid.[emoji1]
  21. He can see well enough to be scared of his own reflection! https://goo.gl/photos/WZNfw39dyd2LN6rH8
