  1. Wow, Mitchell! It looks great. I love the rock work, and I love that you have SPS, LPS, and softies all represented. Keep up the thread. It will look more and more amazing as everything grows in.
  2. When we contemplate getting another fish or two, we consider tank size, check compatibility charts, look at pictures of the fish, consider costs, but other than the occasional "shy" or "active" in online descriptions we don't usually know what to expect from a fish's personality. I want to hear about your favorite fish and why! Here are my favorites: I have two yellow-headed pearly jawfish that crack me up. They hide under the rock work and pop out one at a time to look around or eat. I also have a flame hawkfish that perches himself in select spots and watches the other fish like he is on lunch duty in the playground. What's your favorite fish?
  3. I can do it, Chris. I'll be down there on Monday. --Holly Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Badxgillen - I live in southwest Portland/Beaverton area and work in south Salem. I might be able to help out on the distribution/transportation. Keep me in mind. --Holly Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. You were right, theclark. They answered right away. Here is what they said: Thank you for your inquiry. Crystallization in our liquid supplements is common and safe during colder months due to the very high concentration of the materials. I’ve just shaken the bottle well to break up the crystals into small bits and then dosed as normal when it happened to me. We have a new Facebook page; www.facebook.com/brightwellaquatics Please visit and like us. We’ll be giving regular product spotlights every Monday and Friday, announcing new product releases, sharing company news, and answering technical questions there as well. I am still available to answer product questions via email and phone if you prefer. I hope that my reply has answered your questions satisfactorily. Should you have additional questions, please feel free to direct them to my attention. Have a pleasant day. 6. Ooohhh. That rings some bells. There was a recent post that talked about PAR/PUR and lighting intensity. As I recall it got kind of "intense" (pun intended) and I did not keep up with the thread. I'll go back and see what it said. Thanks for the response, newbie.
  7. I prefer to buy fish and coral locally, but I have purchased from online retailers like LiveAquaria, BlueZoo, and Tidal Gardens on occassion. I don't order enough to make a good judgment as to what retailers are worth looking at and what retailers I should avoid. I'm interested in others' experiences. For my part, I had a great shipment from LiveAquaria (Diver's Den) and would order from them again. I had a not-so-good experience with Tidal Gardens (which is a bummer because I love Than's videos) and it is unlikely I would make an order from them again. Anyone willing to share their thoughts?
  8. When I buy or move corals or anemones from one tank to another I try to keep the lighting intensity consistent, at least initially. How do I do this, you ask? By squinting really hard and pretending that I can detect the color/intensity difference with my naked eye. Is there some sort of meter or way to measure lighting so that I can make good choices about placement?
  9. Thanks to both of you. I just shot off an email to Brightwell. I'll report back if I hear something.
  10. My alkalinity buffer has developed white crystal chunks in the bottle. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think it is still safe/effective?
  11. I think I'm the only one who doesn't know this, but what is TECO?
  12. If there is still room on the list, I'm in. Either one is fine with me, though I like the second one a little more. Thanks for coordinating, Badxgillen.
  13. Incredible! Looks like that waterproof camera set up is working great. Thanks for posting these! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I've done the same thing, but for safety I would use a 12-volt DC power supply to run the relay (that turns on the pump) as well. If you used the whole 120 volts from the wall socket you could have a shocking hazard. I used this from Amazon for my frag set up: Ledwholesalers 30 Watt LED Power Suppply Driver Transformer 120 to 12 Volt DC Output, 3207It's $15.25. On my 110 gallon I actually used the power supply from an old Nintendo I found at the thrift store!
  15. I love this tank. Your rockscaping is beautiful, one of the best I have seen. Keep posting pics! I want to see how the corals fill out.
  16. Me! Me! I've been wanting one of those! Anything in my frags you're interested in?
  17. Here is the monster I picked up today. The second one is a beauty too. Thanks, Chad. They're awesome.
  18. Ha ha! I am taking good care of your brain. I just wish I had a rainbow wellsophyllia to go with it...sigh...
  19. What the heck? Never heard of it. Good for algae, huh? I'll look into it. I'm liking the bicolor blenny idea...
