  1. No? I suggest that you look at per capita statistics in other Western developed countries, and see if any pattern emerges. One of these is not like the others....
  2. The number of "lunatics" out there is definitely not the root cause of this problem, and I'll just leave it at that.
  3. You'd better hang onto that big tank a little longer Jorge.
  4. So, the probe does ok in salt water, then?
  5. Sorry to hear Bill. I still haven't gotten a controller, but if I do I will avoid the RKE.
  6. Ditch the vinegar for now and let your nitrates get higher. .5 no3 with 11 dKh = burnt tips that can lead to rtn.
  7. It might work to super-glue a "fire line" around the living tissue. Sometimes that works for me.
  8. It's probably a simpler cause than something like copper. What were your nitrate and phosphate levels? Did you have Jeff check them for?
  9. Test your water to see if you have detectable copper.
  10. Many thanks to MrBret and Softy for hosting a fun meeting. You guys have a beautiful display tank and frag collection!
  11. That looks easier than the standard way to test these parameters. I hope it proves to be accurate!
  12. I'm a Jebao convert, myself, and I've got 6 Wp-25s. They are only $50 on Amazon. And, with this wavemaker (http://www.joejaworski.com/jebao/), they are the bomb! In contrast, I also have two Vortech Mp10s, and I paid nearly $400 each for them (3 months after I bought them they lowered the price by $100!). All of my Jebaos are still running after 8 months to 1.5 years, and I couldn't happier with them. They do appear to lose some power over time, but if I only get a year out of them, well, then I'll get new ones every year. I could buy new Jebaos every year for 6 years before I ended up paying as much as I would for a new Ecotech. And.....my Ecotech Mp10s are noisy as h@ll....but I could get the quiet drive driver for........another $50.
  13. Make sure there are no bubbles in the tube. This will throw your readings off. Mine never vary more than a few ppm when I do repeated tests like you did.
  14. So what did the Neptune guy say about integration with Mindstream in the future? Maybe? Did the Mindstream guys say why their tank parameters were a little wacky in that shot? Alk of 2.1? And no Mg? Thanks for all of your reporting!
  15. Whoops, you're right. The Mag 24 is twice as powerful as the ones that I was talking about.
  16. .....otherwise, TheClark is going to end up with another huge tank in his garage that he doesn't know what to do with.
  17. If you're looking for a chiller/return pump for the RSM250, Eheim compact 5000 pumps work well and fit in that space, as well as the larger Sicce replacement pump #1. The pump #2 that comes with the AOI setup is not powerful enough to push water through a chiller and return. I still have it and use it as a mixing pump. Are you sure the Danner mag 24 will fit into that space?
  18. Nice work, Jase. Talk him down from the cliff. Don't do it, Jorge!
  19. Just dilute your vinegar in RO water so that you don't have to dose such small volumes every other day. (I am using Red Sea NOPOx, and I have it diluted 9:1 in RO water, so I can add it over the course of the day in several small doses, rather than in a single dose.) Good luck saving that Cali tort!
