  1. In your master closet? Your wife is very understanding. Lol. Mine wouldn't let me encroach on that. Looks great! Very clean.

    Acro keeper

    Those are awesome!
  3. Dinos are a real pain. I dealt with them for 3 months in both of my tanks. They killed several of my acropora colonies before I got them to go away. There are a few things that I did that I think helped: 1) I reduced my nitrates to about 5 ppm. I used carbon dosing (RedSea NoPox) to do it. I don't recommend bringing your nitrates down below 5 ppm with NoPox, since you can crash your tank if you let them get too low and then continue dosing. If you have a refugium, then some macroalgae would be a good option. 2) Add a UV sterilizer. American Aquarium Products on this forum sells some nice ones. UV sterilizers really seem to help, but only if you get a good one. 3) A clean-up crew of Fighting Conchs will help somewhat. These and other conchs are the only inverts that I know that will eat the stuff. They also will eat cyanobacteria, which is really remarkable! I have groups of 5 in each of my 66 gallon tanks, and they are doing really well. 4) Having good flow helps, but I don't think it is as important as the above things that I did. I added a Gyre to one of my tanks, but I don't think that did too much. 5) I tried dosing peroxide, but that didn't seem to do too much for me, and it seemed like it was stressing my corals. Good luck!
  4. Bummer! There's nothing more frustrating when you want to get a new tank running. When I first got a Red Sea Max tank, the lights kept tripping my GFCI, so I didn't have any light for the first two weeks. It drove me crazy!
  5. That looks pretty nice. They are a bit cheaper than the RedSea Reefer tanks, right?
  6. I love that two-headed scoly. Nice stuff!
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing this!
  8. Whoa......that is one awesome looking tank!
  9. Wish I could make this one! Very generous of Holly to invite the club to meet at her house.
  10. They look really nice, whatever they are.
  11. Somebody post a picture of the tank in the street, please! ????
  12. It looks great! What are you doing for Ca and Alk? Are you dosing 2-part or just doing water changes?
  13. Running your chiller on a separate circuit will prevent the chiller from overloading and tripping the circuit that your Apex is on. It will not, however, prevent a ground fault in something running on the Apex circuit from tripping it. I think Jeremy's solution is a good one for that issue. I might do something similar myself. A battery backup for the router is a great idea too!
  14. A partial fix would be to put either your Apex or chiller on a different circuit. I put my chiller on a different circuit than the rest of the tank stuff to avoid this kind of problem.
  15. +1 on the Ocean Revive. I got my t-247s for under 200 apiece and I couldn't be happier with them.
  16. Wow, that's a lot of BRS 2-part!
  17. Plus one on this. Carbon dosing is a good way to wipe out your tank if you don't go very slowly and exercise an abundance of caution. For the size tank and corals that that you have, you probably will be fine just using water changes to control nutrients. Another option would be some chemical media like Chemipure Elite, but you need to be careful with this too---don't add too much of it too fast.
  18. The same thing happened to me when I started BRS 2-part. It's cyano. I recommend Chemiclean to get rid of it. Increase flow and keep nitrates around 5-ish to keep it away.
  19. Nice! That's a really fine looking bubble tip anemone!
  20. If you can get the nitrates down to 10-ish you'll be in good shape. With weekly water changes and by not over-doing it when you feed the fish this should be do-able.
