  1. Sheesh....somebody tell this Bicycle Bill character to clean up his act!
  2. It was nice meeting you too, Brad. I made out ok. What do you think?
  3. Robert and I are going to bust down the door at 11:00 a.m.!
  4. I hope you left something for me! I can't make it there until tomorrow!
  5. Dino can vary in color a bit depending on the kind you have and your lights. I had a type of Dino once that fluoresced orange under my actinics. You probably have Dino. What are your nitrate and phosphate levels?
  6. Didn't the Chemiclean work? If it is cyano then Chemiclean will knock it out. If the Chemiclean did NOT work, then it is dinoflagellates. I beat my dinos by lowering my nutrients--nitrate and phosphate. Nitrate by carbon dosing and phosphate by using phosphate absorbing media. There is also a Dino-X product by Fauna Marin that I just ordered to have on hand in case. Supposedly it works against some dino strains. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fauna-Marin-DINO-X-500ml-Combat-Dinoflagellates-/111730542789?hash=item1a03a8c8c5 Good luck!
  7. Whoa, Jeff! Maybe I should make a pilgrimage to the SPS Mecca this weekend....
  8. I'm doing that tonight for pyram snails on my clams!
  9. So sorry to hear about your injury, John. I wish I lived closer and could help out.
  10. Looking forward to this one. John, are you going to do a Jerry Garcia impression for us?
  11. Takashi Amano died yesterday of pneumonia at 61. A sad day for the aquarium hobby.
  12. Maybe it would work better for a smaller tank/skimmer. Your skimmer is pretty big, as I recall.
  13. Jeremy, have you seen this CO2 scrubber from 2 Litttle Fishies? http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/06/two-little-fishies-cdx/ It's a cool idea. It scrubs the CO2 out of your air before it goes into the skimmer, and helps keep pH up. Anyone here use it?
  14. Yup, now I see that. Thanks. The DIUNA. I guess I missed them before because they seem to only be available on their website.
  15. I don't know of any other T5 fixtures like the ATI sunpower available in the U.S. Do you? It sounds like you are making your comparison between ATI Sunpower and everything else. My Red Sea T5 fixture is nice, but it is no ATI Sunpower. I could amend my comments to say that for an average T5 fixture with nice bulbs, compared to a decent LED retrofit with Cree LEDs, I see better SPS color overall under the T5s. I could probably do better with my LEDs if I swapped out some of my neutral whites for cyan, etc... As Bombertech suggested in his talk to the club at TPA.
  16. I hate API. I can't understand why they cannot design a tube and cap that will not leak on your fingers every time these use it. Alk and Ca API tests have been close to Salifert. API nitrate is way off for me. The thing I like about Red Sea is the quality of the titration and colorimeter hardware. The numbers rub off the Salifert syringes long before the reagents are used up. And I have an easier time reading the Red Sea Colorimeters for low range NO3 and PO4 than Salifert. Despite the flimsy design of the kits, Salifert is the head and shoulders the best for Alk and Ca.
  17. I swapped my Giesmann T5s for Steve's LEDs in one of my Red Sea Max 250 tanks. I still have the T5s in the other tank. My thoughts: 1) Better Acropora growth in the LED tank, but better Acropora color in the T5 tank. 2) My Montipora seem to do better under the T5s. 3) My maxima clams are growing really well with the LEDs. I only had them under T5 for a short while, but my impression was that it wouldn't be powerful enough for them. I really need to use a PAR meter in my tanks!
  18. Red Sea Nitrate, Phosphate, and Mag work great for me. For Alk and Ca I have had consistent results with Salifert. Hanna works great for Alk too.
  19. Did you decide on an alk and ca supplement for the system?
