  1. ooops... I was thinking you were discussing one of these: I have absolutely idea about the probe you have pictured, or just how accurate those are.
  2. I'm saying this because: You use a Refractometer to measure Salinity, RODI has no Salinity, Why would you calibrate to a measurement your not even interested in? It makes more sense since your looking for a reading of ~1.026 to use the proper calibration fluid for setting it to what your looking for. (While I'm sure it can work either way, this is the 1st time i have heard someone suggest calibrating one with RODI) As for the Hanna it is a carbon copy of Milwaukee, you caliberate it with RODI an Check with 36ppt, see that button that says "Zero"? You put RODI on there and press that button for calibration. Select Read and you should see 1.0000, wipe it clean, put the 35ppt solution, select read and ensure its reading the solution correctly. If So The Hanna Checker isn't the issue. Hope that helps
  3. The refractometer should "ALWAYS" be calibrated with 35ppt and the Hanna Should be done with RODI, sounds like you have those backwards. Try changing the Battery in the hanna, when they start to go bad they give bad readings. Otherwise get a 3rd opinion to rule one out, but my guess is the Red Sea Refractometer
  4. I've been running the Giesemann Matrixx now for a almost 3 years, bought for aesthetic appeal over ATI, discovered the overall quality, and have no interest in moving to a new fixture any time soon.
  5. If not, I Have an IM Magnafuge for Sale
  6. Hey Rich, Try watching Reef2Reef, That is where I have gotten all my Used Apex Gear. It comes through frequently and decent deals. Also Post a WTB Ad there
  7. I'm in the Albany/Salem Area, if your interested PM me and we can set something up
  8. 5 Gallons It was built to be just like the Trigger Systems One you can see here, It includes an Auto Shut off Valve for easy fill from RO/DI and a Float Switch for those with an Apex B.O.B to notify you when low.
  9. iirc Alk is not possible with an ICP, & Phos i believe is tested with ICP-AES opposed to "OES"
  10. Used the Prizm Series Many years ago, and what a piece of $hit!! Though as the newer models just appear to be copies of the Skimz line, I'm sure they will work fine. They use the Sicce needle wheel pump, which is a good one, though I have yet to see an optional air intake control to fine tune size of bubbles, rather just a water level adjustment.
  11. Triton & ATI are both overseas and require delay in shipping before getting back. ATI offers 2 tests for RO/Tank Water for the same price ($10 cheaper than Triton) So there maybe issues with delay from ATI as well. ICP-Analysis is the only one I know in the States and Turn around time is about a Week from the time you ship it in, till the time the results pop up on the page. Some food for thought, when sitting in a workshop with ICP-Analysis Owner; He discussed the equipment that he used, and exactly what specifications that equipment had been calibrated too. He stated that both Triton & ATI did not want to discuss their calibration methods, and there was little info in addition that could be found in reference to their testing. This could just have been to push units, but there is a video out there where 1 individual sent samples out to all 3 and all 3 came back with wildly varying results. Just something to consider
  12. over the years I have participated in deals through pnwmas/craigslist etc. and had second thoughts before the purchase went down, but in every case I followed through to protect my reputation, and after all in the end, the only thing you have is your word.

  15. I don't think there was much "Karma" involved, my Guess is these were all Friends and the video was made to generate Ad revenue as anyone else with a Channel tries on YouTube. The Biggest issue is the fact he blurred every last individuals face? Seriously? You catch an actual thief and you Blurr their face? The Police post their faces caught on Camera on FB or the News asking for Identification, yet this guy is respecting their privacy? Yeah, those who had things stolen, typically would have no issue publicly shaming them.
  16. I have an Apex Jr W/ PM1 Module (no pH probe) If your interested.
  17. -It's been around a while, but not to the consumer. Maybe early 90's. You, didn't read to the end of the sentence, it was Sarcasm and btw, I didn't Say Triton didn't work, I simply was pointing out it's not necessary for a successful tank.
  18. I think the Triton would be a great route to go if wanting to spend a bunch more money You have stated you have little info on it, yet you want to jump ship on your current methods and set sail in a different direction? (Marketing can be the devil ) The only reason someone would be willing to abandon their current strategy, would be due to little perceived success at their current attempt. So typically it would be best to figure out what it is that is being done wrong and improve on that, as that is what defines experience, learning from ones mistakes to provide better results going forward; rather than trying to emulate another's success without understanding the concept, your bound to be right back where you started, with less cash and a greater frustration. Take a look at this photo from 2003: Gorgeous Tank huh? This was from a Time Triton Didn't Exist, EcoTech Didn't Exist, LED's for Reef Tanks Were not being used, BRS 2 Part? Nope! ICP Testing available to consumers? Yeah...No. All the Equipment on this tank would be considered old and Archaic by most standards, yet I'm willing to bet this Particular tank looks better than the majority of Members on this Forum. Reefing is not like "Coding" for Instance, while someone can look at a particular piece of code, copy it and manipulate it to do what they want with little understanding (theres much more to this, but the basic concept applies), The Reef Tank is much less forgiving, resulting into every hobbyist creating their own methods of Success. If this could be emulated, there would be a step by step guide available, and lucious overgrown reef tanks full of colonies with constant need of trimming would be everywhere you looked. I would start by getting a deeper understanding of the biology in your tank, What are the components of coral growth? , What forms of filtration do you have in place, and what exact purpose do they serve? etc. If you really want to pursue the Triton Method, I would first put in the time researching articles on the subject before spending that kind of money, simply because individuals on a forum may have found success, after all it does little to explain the Science.
  19. The BOB is a simple circuit that acts as "On" or "Off" So I suppose you could set it to tell you if flow is on or off 😕 but to get a reading of how fast the little wheel is spinning would require another solution.
