saw this setup last night...this is a great deal for an almost complete setup, all you would need is a skimmer. great guy to deal with too.

i think you'll be happy with the controller cause it definitely makes keeping a tank as hassle free as possible.

i agree with putting the blues on the timer that comes on first and goes off last. i'm currently running one blue+ and an actinic on the 2 wired plug on a 8 bulb fixture and i think i'm going to swap it with one of the other blue+ bulbs. also i think the light schedule you have is fine.

thanks guys! the thing turning the Tunze pumps are called Sea Sweeps and they are made by the same company that makes Sea Swirls. i'm really happy with them and i like that i can move them around the tank without having to mess with plumbing. i can also put them in locations where it might be tough to run plumbing.

well there is something new with my tank. it's back up and running with water and rock. picture is of course a lot bluer than in person. I took the tank down in November to start over and it's been running for a couple weeks. no fish or corals yet but have been adding bacteria to get the cycle going. this is my first try at aquascaping it. might change things a little and the tunze pumps on the back wall will be raised up. http://0504160716b by kilmca, on Flickr

yeah and i don't think the suction cups speaks well of longevity. going to need to be modified with magnets or just use rigid pvc to place it in the tank. i watched a video on their website and it does show it not needing the suction cup mount if you use rigid pvc and that seems like the best way to go IMO. for $20 it would not be a very expensive product trial.

i've got a 6040 on a 28g tank right now and it is great like most Tunze pumps. i've used different size tunze pumps on tanks over the past 12 years and they have always been reliable. i had vortechs and agree with pledosophy completely. The vortechs needed bearings replaced within the first year and i will never use them again. of course i was used to reliable tunze pumps so a pump needing a part replaced within the first year was disconcerting especially with what they cost. I went with the 10' tank that is 32" deep because i wanted a 10' tank and that is what i was limited to without having to move a hot water heater and other stuff but i also considered a 8' long tank that was 4' wide and i kind of wish i did that but having a 10' tank is still great.

in wall is nice but make the tank as long and wide as possible but don't go deeper than 24", IMO. Also make sure it's accessible from the front and back at a minimum but if one or both sides can be accessible that's the would be even better. here is picture of my tank from when it was first setup. also this is just another opinion but go with a glass tank and make the viewable panels starphire. https://DSC09996 by kilmca, on Flickr

i tried to PM you but your inbox is full or something cause it says you can't receive messages. here is the message i tried to send you. i want this fish but got to find someone who can hold onto it for me until i get my tank back up and running. i'm contacting some friends with tanks to see if anyone can hold it for me temporarily. i'm remodeling my house and that's why the tank is going to be empty for a while. my tank is 400g and it's 120" long x 32" wide x 24" tall. if i could find someone to temporarily hold a fish for me i'd definitely get this fish. anyone know someone or a store capable of holding a fish for a reasonable fee?

yeah, I got (2) 8 bulb Sunpower fixtures. was thinking about dimmable sunpowers but i just went with the regular sunpowers since I still have the dimmable LED strips from Madmike's tank.

I'm going back to T5s so I have (6) 120w LED fixtures for sale, there are only 5 in the pictures below cause I'm using one right now. I believe they are either evergrow d120 or ocean revive OR-U120 which I believe are the exact same fixtures. Asking $50 each or $250 for all (6). All LEDs and fans work. Not sure how old they are but I got them when they were less than a year old and I've run them for about 2 years...I think. yeah, tank was setup in august of 2008 and I think I hosted a club meeting in the spring of 2009.

thanks guys, there is someone in West Linn that offered his up so I'm pursuing that one first since it's so close to me. i'll let you know if that one falls through.
