  1. wvc80n, i got one at best buy. i found some wireless cameras cheaper online but i like the ease of returning something in person when i'm not sure if it's going to work for me.

    Fish ID

    talbots, i think!
  3. right now on PBS the show nature is on and it's on public aquariums.
  4. thanks for the offer but i will have the in-laws feeding them on a regular basis, they've done it before and i have them trained. in case of emergency Bryan(undrtkr_00), Dennis(dsoz) and Jon(wegotjs) all live less than a mile away.
  5. yeah, it will be nice to be able to see the tank while i'm gone. i sent the link to my family and some friends and they all think i'm crazy for having a camera on the tank. so does my wife and her parents. i would say it wasn't that hard to setup and i'm not good with computers. i did have to call technical help for the setup of the camera but they answered my questions quickly.

thanks everyone for the compliments. I'm a little scared to put the clam in the tank cause i wonder if the trigger will make it a meal.

Here are some pictures I took a week ago.
  8. no it's not but i got some mp40's and i put them on the back of the tank and they have pushed all the sand away from the front of the tank. i plan on moving the mp40s to the ends of the tank eventually. the only thing good about not having sand near the front of the tank is i don't have to worry about it when i'm cleaning the acrylic. the trigger is doing great, he's a real pig. i have qwest dsl service and it's 7 mbps so not very fast but the cheapest i could find.
  9. yeah i know i need a static ip address because my current ip address is dynamic. qwest charges more for a static ip address so i'm not sure if i'm going to bother getting the static ip address. they claim my dynamic ip address only changes when we loose connection or power. it's been the same ip address for about a week. i posted here to see if i have any other options.
  10. yeah, i'm going to need some help. i'm trying to be able to view the tank from a webcam while i'm gone on vacation.
  11. i thought the kid was due the 16th or there about? is the 23rd the latest the doctor will let her go?
  12. i have a 1000w won brothers titanium heater with controller on my 400. i think it was around $150. i also have it hooked to my ACIII in case it ever decides to get stuck in the on position. i have a second one as a spare but if i sell it to you i know the one i'm using will break. tank is looking good and it has great dimensions. i also wanted to add nothing really comes cheap with big tanks.
  13. 400w is overkill for softies. no need to go over 250w MH or T5's would work. below is a pic of my frag/refugium setup. frag tank is above and softie/refugium is below. both are connected to the display tank and everything is covered by the same skimmer. this pick is old but i currently have (2) 250w MH over the frag tank and 300w of VHO's over the softie/refugium tank. this pick was taken when i had 400w MH over the frag and T5's over the softie/refugium tank. I don't think a skimmer is required for your frag setup. especially if you don't have any fish. maybe make a small section where you could keep some marco algae and keep an eye on your levels.
  14. This topic has been covered a couple times before . If you want a bulb that produces a white light with blue tint go with the Phoenix 14k. If you want something more blue you are going to have to try a 20k bulb of some kind. I'm not sure which one is best because all i'll ever use is the 14k Phoenix. i've tried other name brand 14k and 15k bulbs and none of them compare to the Phoenix. That's my experiences.
  15. 750 lbs? you three guys are really strong! who made this tank? that is ridiculously heavy. i know a 150g aqueon glass tank weighs 281 lbs per the following link. even it's an oceanic tank i know they are usually thicker glass but i wouldn't think that they would weight more than twice as much as the aqueon tanks. sorry i can't help move it in. http://www.aqueonproducts.com/assets/011/19784.pdf
  16. I already asked about it in a pm and he said he still had it. I just wanted to return a pm about it but his inbox is full.
  17. well i'm interested in the orange lobo he has in his tank, that's why i need to PM him. so the red planet might still be available.
  18. Jake, clean out your inbox so i can send you a pm.
  19. 210 is too tall IMO but it does take up the same floor space as a 180 so if you don't mind a 30" tall tank go with the 210. i have long arms and have a hard time reaching the bottom of a 24" tall tank.
