  1. if it says it can hold 4000 lbs total that's 800 lbs a shelf. i think the shelving will be fine.
  2. sorry if this should be under the vendor section but i was wondering if anybody has ever bought corals from Austin Aqua Farms? I have never bought from them but would like to know your experience with them if you have bought from them. http://www.austinaquafarms.com/
  3. i too have a small clam and a melanurus wrasse with no problems but it would be a good idea to add the clam at night when the wrasse is not out.
  4. i've got a 400 Display + 150 sump + 75 frag + 55 refugium and haven't had a humidity issue yet. all the tank are located in the basement so i only have to run ac on the really hot days during the summer. in the winter we use a wood stove as our primary heat and that is really dry so I think that helps a lot. I think the exhaust fan will be enough and since this is a fowlr i assume you won't have any metal halides heating up the tank and house in the summer.
  5. Very nice Steve, you've had a busy summer. where is the skimmer, I wanted to see a pic of it running? I did an online search for it and it looks like a great skimmer.
  6. IMO it seems a little long to run MH for 11 hours. that's really nice to have the dimming function on the actinics. I run MH for 7 hours and actinics before and after the MH. I do not run the MH and actinics together cause I think the MH bulbs I use are blue enough. I run 250w 14k phoenix DE bulbs. my lighting schedule is below. i might increase my MH to be on for 8 hours depending how people respond to this thread but i probably won't go over that. 12:30 - 1st set of actinic vho's come on 1:00 - 2nd set of actinic vho's come on 1:30 - 10k vho's come on 2:00 - MH come on and all vho's go off 9:00 - MH go off and all vho's come on 9:30 - 10k vho's go off 10:00 - 2nd set of actinic vho's go off 10:30 - 1st set of actinic vho's go off
  7. do they look like these?
  8. That frogspawn is huge and very nice. Looks like you are getting great growth with all of your corals.
  9. i was thinking the same thing but he only needs 1000 gph or so. dart is about 3 times that much.
  10. Looks like it might be a majano anemone which is not good. I'd recommend getting rid of it if it is a majano cause they multiple quickly and are a real nuisance.
  11. my concern would be that they are going into a 40g tank and they get up to 5" long. the Melanurus should get along with the Sixline but if the Sixline is aggressive that might be a problem. I would make sure the Melanurus is larger than the Sixline. I had a Sixline when I got the Melanurus and the Sixline tried to bully him but since the Melanurus was twice the size of the Sixline it didn't last more than a few minutes.
  12. if you do put more than one together make sure one is a male and the other is a female. I don't believe multiples of each sex mix well. you'll know a female cause they aren't as colorful as a male.
  13. Melanurus wrasse is green, i would recommend a male cause they are more colorful. The one I have a is a great fish, not aggressive towards other fish. They do need a sand bed to burrow in at night.
  14. I haven't bought any drygoods online in the past year but when I do it's usually from one of the places listed below. If i'm looking for equipment and can't find it locally I usually watch reefcentral classifieds cause I've had good experiences buying used stuff on there. bulk reef supply aquacave custom aquatics premium aquatics marinedepot
  15. what is the thickness of the glass, MP10s won't work if it's greater than 3/8" thick. I have (2) MP40's and they are nice. Also have Tunze pumps and they are also nice. I don't have any experience with Koralias.
  16. I will never attend a Saturday meeting so the best thing, in my opinion, is to alternate to accomodate everyone.

    Advice on Pavona

i think the coral in the picture below is pavona and it's doing well for me under high light and lots of flow.
  18. Tank is looking great, looks like the Blue Tang is doing well. I assume it's the same one you got from me?
  19. i have one you could borrow but i'm too far away. you could make one like i did. just need light crate, super glue, (2) zip ties and fishing string. zip ties are for hinges on the trap door. i've caught 4 different fish with it. i usually leave the trap in the tank for a week and put food it in it so the fish are comfortable going in it and then when i'm ready to trap them it's quick.
  20. I usually email reeflo directly if I have a question about their pumps. They always get back to me the same day. Their email is Sales@reeflopumps.com.
  21. I was over at RC and I got a good laugh out of the following thread. not sure if you have to be a member to view it but hopefully you don't so you can enjoy it. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1882981
  22. What I see is a stand capable of holding a much larger tank!
