  1. Romo indeed seems like someone who has suffered from bad luck/timing. Really talented QB who has overcome a lot of physical adversity and yet take a lot of heat for not being able to close the deal for Dallas. Can't imagine what this year must be like for him to have to sit it out and watch Dak reap the benefit. Not that Dak isn't really good also but, Romo has definitely paid his dues!
  2. Ha! Not a hater of the team necessarily and I do have a lot of respect for many of the players (best O-line in football) but the ownership and self promotion is a different story altogether (and yeah, definitely jealous of the resources and stadium). I loved Al but man, he kind of took the whole team down with him as he chased one last championship before he died - it was sad to see. Mark, despite not looking the part of an owner, has actually done a fantastic job getting the team back on its feet by hiring a modern management team and largely staying out of their way (unlike dad). Reggie M. has killed the last few drafts and having an at least half way decent coaching staff is starting to show dividends. I think they are still a year away but they have been having a bit of a charmed year so you never know! I think a boys v Raiders matchup would be awesome - plus it would mean that the Patriots wouldn't be there. Now that is a team I do hate (never got over the tuck rule game)!
  3. Looks like a great spot for the tank and having an equipment room readily available is awesome (wish I had that). Looking forward to seeing it take shape. Good luck!
  4. Oh man... painful to see all the "boys" fans on here As a life-long Raiders fan, the Cowboys aren't exactly rivals but man they are annoying! They were tolerable back in the Landry days but staring with the JJ era and the self dubbed "America's Team" they became unbearable pretty quickly. Of course, I started out as a Raiders fan when Daryl Lamonica and George Blanda were still playing but the last 13 years have been a complete disaster. Despite Al Davis being the owner closest to a football savant during most of his career, his final 10 years of futility really set the franchise back. Then again, it could be worse, they could have had Jerra for an owner! Raider Nation baby - he only real "America's Team"! Maybe we will get to resolve this in the super bowl this year
  5. Man Robert, those across and caps look fantastic. I don't have anything to trade yet since the tank is just getting settled in but I will be doing a little drooling anyway...
  6. This is an interesting idea. I wonder if anyone has actually looked at it.
  7. My experience is similar to Kim's. My most recent leopard wrasse (also a blue star) disappeared for a day or so but then came out on his own and has been a regular at mealtime ever since. I did have a fairy wrasse once that literally was a no show for over a month then, one day, decided to come out and act like everything was normal. No real trick that I have found other than just wait them out - not very helpful I realize. Good news is, I bet there is a good chance it is still alive.
  8. Until 7:00 on weekdays eh? As if I wasn't there enough as it is. This is great actually as it does mealie it possible to stop in after work.
  9. Looking great Andrew! Lots of nice colonies in there and seems like they are growing well. Thanks for the update.
  10. Likewise - a Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  11. Oh man - sorry to hear about your struggles. Sounds like you put a lot of thought and effort into your build and might have some major regrets down the road if you toss in the towel now. Know it took me 6 years to get serious about the hobby again after a major crash and I really missed it. Kind of wish I would have fought through it at the time but what can you do - have to make a call sometimes. Good luck - hope things bounce back quickly and you come through Ok.
  12. That would probably just mean I would end up in the tank with it!
  13. Bummer. I probably jinxed it by finally signing up to use it. Sorry everyone!
  14. Wow - you have been busy in just 7 months! Really nice and varied collection and everything looks really healthy. Congrats!
  15. Any updates on the potential spawning? Are they still guarding that one area of the tank? It looked pretty convincing from the video you posted.
  16. That height makes things a bit tricky but something like an AquaC EV could work. The 120 is only 18H I think. http://www.marinedepot.com/protein_skimmers_aquac_ev-ap.html
  17. If I could also get on the list that would be great. New tank and new lights so working "blind" at this point. Thanks!
  18. Hope you figure something out. Right now I'm in a similar dilemma but am just going without and keeping my fingers crossed. Well, that and not buying any flasher wrasses (even though I love them)!
  19. Looks like you have been busy! Looking forward to seeing some of these at the next swap... not that I have anything to trade at this point!
  20. Congrats on the quick sale but sorry to hear you won't be sticking around.
  21. Wow - sorry to hear about this. My new setup is currently "topless" so I am also a bit concerned. Given the way it is set up, it will be difficult to cover but I may have to get creative. Then again, I lost my lineatus wrasse to "hard wood" surfing even when I had a full canopy so never any guarantees I guess. Hope you don't lose anyone else!
  22. I was poking around online trying to supplement my rather out of date coral ID skills and found some interesting stuff. Coral Hub is a site that seems to be dedicated to advancing general knowledge about coral ID techniques and hosts training materials for a field guide called Coral Finder that is tied to the Corals of the World illustrated books. The Coral Finder is really designed for field (dive) use but it's principles of visual cue based ID are pretty useful even for a trip to C&C! I think it is definitely worth a peak... http://www.coralhub.info There were some other interesting things that showed up such as http://www.coralsoftheworld.org and http://coral.aims.gov.au which have more in depth information on taxonomy, geography, reproduction, disease, etc. but these aren't really organized as ID tools. Definitely lots of good info though.
  23. I was just going to go looking for this thread to see if Jon had any updates. Love the pics and vids of the whole brood.
