That's a helluva process! I don't have much to offer but I'll throw out an alternative experiment... What about a small army of chocolate chip starfish in a separate container with rock that has been manually plucked of the affected rocks? If it works I would do batches of about 25% of rock at a time as to not cycle the tank too much. Still a major PITA though.

That stand is beautiful! I also love the matching tank trim. Your sump/fuge came out nice too! Gonna be a beautiful reef for sure!

That's a beautiful RBTA! Good score Charles!(hopefully you get it)... Taylor, shoot me a pm next time you get a wanderer. I'd love to get one of yours... -
Love Rods food! Been using it for years. Can't wait for my juvies to get big enough to eat the regular blend. Great stuff!

Yes. And more importantly, the calcium buildup in the valve itself. Make sure to clean(vinegar) regularly.

Red Sea coral pro here too! Make sure to get the blue bucket. Numbers are closer to NSW. I've used [language filter] near every salt on the market except for the over seas brands and have been happy with all of them. H2ocean and red sea coral pro are what I have been using in the last few years. They seem very consistent with #'s when I feel like testing.

Look like limpets. Harmless.

Thanks guys. Had to separate more of the big guys a few weeks ago. Here a vid... https://vimeo.com/186354121

I'm in the same boat as Kim. Reactors are less maintenance longterm in my experience. Im dosing my 55g Elos right now but soon I'm going to have Charles build me a smaller reactor because I'm dosing a lot more and it's a PITA to keep up with. I'd say anything below 50g- doser and anything above 50g- reactor. Sure was nice for the first 6 months only having to dose every few days. Not so much anymore...

My daughters nuvo 20 came with a MJ1200 and it works great for the return. Don't have anything else running as of yet but with the 1200 and 2 spin streams it has good random flow. When the baby clowns get bigger we'll add a propeller style pump. Jebao wp4 I think...

Good ol HRD!???? I used Amquel back in the day for chlorine/chloramines. I use RODI only now and I don't regret it. The chloramines killed me back in the day.

Lost a few more in the last few weeks. I think I'm at around 168 give or take. Most have been developing their black a lot lately. I separated the 10 smallest of them and put them in my daughters new tank. 9 of them like the branching euphyllia but 1 of them loves the BTA. Here's a pic and a vid. I'll get another vid of the others soon. https://vimeo.com/185869529 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice system! B-ionic is good stuff. The key with dosing or reactors or kalk is TESTING! Multiple times per week until you get the amounts right.

Everyone is growing well and so far no more losses. I think I'm down to 170 + or -. Some of them are starting to get darker and I have 1 that is completely black except for his face. He's the smallest one in the tank(go figure) and feisty! Going to be moving them to my sump pretty soon. https://vimeo.com/181513604 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

http://www.elos.eu/diamond/diamond.html Look down under their silicone description. It is probably proprietary but there are better options out there than black silicone. If I was building a tank I would look up some commercially available black adhesives.

Good point Sean. I'm not too concerned about it yet. Just keeping everyone up to date. I added a deltec mce600 skimmer to the tank today just in case though. They're pooping ALOT???? I'm planning on moving them to a bigger tank soon. Hopefully in the next week.

Black. My tank is an Elos rimless (30x20x20)bottom perimeter braced and has held up great for over 7 years.(knock on wood) Clear would drive me nuts.

Thanks Chris. I did worry about it at first but it could have been anything.

Right on! Got a pic to share?

Here's a pic and a vid as of this am. Lost 2 more babies over the 4 day trip. I'm thinking it was due to over feeding as when I got home there was a ton of uneaten food on the bottom of the tank. Did a quick w/c and added amquel to combat the ammonia. All is well today. https://vimeo.com/180617681 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
