  1. Yes I wouldn't worry about it, they're just hungry! It's always fun spotting them though
  2. Great story! I had the same issue yesterday. Heard the alarm and the inkbird said 74 degrees so I popped in an extra heater and everything is fine now! Inkbirds are awesome!
  3. I'll try the obvious guess, is it an algae scrubber for nutrient export??
  4. All great advice. My set up is a little simpler, I only use a 10g tank for my ato tank and if it ever fails then it fills my sump to the top but doesn't overflow.
  5. I've got some you can have if no one else responds, but you'd have to pay for shipping (I'm in Washington).
  6. Wow that sucks man. You wouldn't expect it since they're so small but Mini maxis do have a strong sting so I could see a smaller clown falling victim.
  7. How many do you have eclipse? My original goal was to pile a bunch in close together in hopes that they'd breed
  8. I don't really target feed them, but they catch some of my home-made fish food that I feed my fish. If I feel like it I'll give each of my anemones (11 total) a piece of shrimp or squid or something but that only happens like once a month. My regular rock nems have yet to breed, but these ones with the longer skirt seem to pop out a baby every now and then.
  9. I posted this on another forum but I'd really like to see what you all have to say! Who out there has had them breed? I'm confused, I always heard that they produce many babies at a time (but most are lost in our tanks), but mine seem to only have one baby at a time (they are a different species then what most people keep)... I started with 3 of this type of rock nem, and two weeks later a bleached nickel sized baby poked its head out (its 3" and healthy now). Now this week (maybe a year later) I have 2 new babies. Anyone out there experience rock nems giving birth one or two babies at a time? In the second pic the baby is hiding in the bottom left
  10. I don't see why not! If it's safe to heat food with it should be safe in tank water. Maybe email the company and ask how it would do with saltwater. But 1200w of heating power is a scary thought...
  11. There is so much beneficial bacteria in out tanks, it would be a shame to start over. I prefer to solve the issue rather than using a chemical band aid. I think you have an excess nutrient issue, what all are you doing to export nutrients?
  12. Scratch that, a snail made its way into the original pump. Cleaned it out and its back in action!
  13. That was one of the best parts, so cool watching it roll around
  14. So my pump died on me today and my back up pump is LOUD! Anybody have an external pump that takes 3/4 fittings they'll let go cheap? I'm in tacoma, wa so most likely it would need to be shipped. Let me know what you have and how much, thanks!
  15. The wife and I watched this last night too! It was an awesome program, such intelligent animals, but disappointing to hear they only live a year or 2
  16. I had tons of light scratches and a couple of slightly deeper ones. The deeper ones (which really weren't that deep) did not go away but they did get a bit better and once it was filled with water weren't very noticeable at all. I gave the Novak a shot but I didn't have high hopes and had already bought sandpaper but it worked great for me! I believe that most of the people who don't like it have poor results due to doing it by hand, use a drill! Here's the polishing pads I used.
  17. Hey guys, so I'm gonna be heading from WA over to Astoria Koa campground for a few days this week, any must see lfs that I should check out? Thanks!
  18. Hey Taylor, I got my tank used and it was full of scratches so I planned on sanding it down but decided to try the Novak 3 part first and it worked great (and was less stressful then sanding the tank myself)! I used some auto polishing pads on an electric drill. Just throwing that idea out there in case you can't get it done professionally. Btw it took me and another person 3 hours to do my 112 gallon tank.
  19. I agree it's most likely the reduced phosphate (you have to do it very slowly). Any reason you wanted your Po4 levels lowered (algae issues)? Imo if your corals were happy before, no need to make any changes (chasing #s always causes me problems).
  20. I'm in for 2 mil, but I'll have to wait until payday..
  21. My inkbird has been going strong for 2 years. It's the green model that has a heating and cooling plug, I'm very happy with it
  22. Maybe try a diy fish trap to catch the angel?
  23. I agree with Taylor about adding one last. I don't have much angel experience but usually when my tank boss bullies a new fish it gets a 3 or 4 day timeout in the refugium which mellows him out.
