  1. I just bought a new bottle of PhytoFeast. So until it's gone... No decision needed. Thanks for your coaching and inputs.
  2. I don't take using reef flux lightly. I haven't used it personally, but others have with various results. It's an algaecide, so if its used, it will take time to restabilize the tank.
  3. That's a pretty awesome description. Chocolate Chip Starfish. @Flash21 - time to just go buy one, which will give you time to look for a source.
  4. Punch line, I'm moving to daily feedings. (from every 3-5days, from previously every 7-10 days) Food choices, life phyto as first choice. I've heard of using Dried Spirulna. Between PhytoFeast and RGComplete, which would be first choice?
  5. and what's your goto food source? 6 shrimp eat a lot
  6. You should try adding some Firework Clove Polyps too. They'd look spectacular.
  7. I compared your settings, they match mine. I can't see any issue with your configuration. Question, how long was pH below 7.7 alarm limit.. and how far below? Might there be delay in triggering the alarm?
  8. We spoke with Patrick (owner) around the holidays. He'd had some health issues, and expressed the shop may be closing. Don't let this stop you from checking things out for yourself.
  9. Harvest #30 complete (March 5th) Continuing to add mid-grow fertilizer kicker. First harvest of new Tetraselmis culture Jar 1 / Jar 5 experiment is interesting Copepod cultures continue to be fed PhytoFeast. They eat more than I realize! Phyto: Nannochloropsis Oculata (Original Culture, from Poseidon Reef) <-- 4 gallon jars Tetraselmis (new culture from @Eatfrenchfries) <-- 1 gallon jar Copepods: Tisbe (Original Culture, from Poseidon Reef) <-- 1 gallon jar Tigriopus (new culture from @Eatfrenchfries) <-- 1 gallon jar Experiment: Does air supply matter? Swapped Cap/Air Supply between Jar 1 & 5 (Jar 5 had black airhose, now Jar 1 has the black airhose) CONCLUSION - Air Supply Matters! Jar 5 is the lightest (previously darkest, now has Jar 1st air supply/cap) Secchi score 10 Jar 1 is the darkest (previously the lightest, now has Jar 5ths original air supply/cap) Secchi score 22 Left is Jar 5, Right is Jar 1 - It's that obvious.
  10. Great overview. I'm looking forward to seeing how these grow. It looks like the phrase, grown like crazy, may apply.
  11. Welcome to PNWMAS. From your profile, I see you're located in Vancouver. There's a number of experienced club members in your area, as well as across the general PDX metro region. In my opinion, Euphylia gardens look spectacular. nice choice
  12. It looks like you're not able to receive PM's. PM me to see if it works.
  13. it'll be easier to get him out this way!
  14. sure. text me tomorrow and we can work out when
  15. Gone overnight, comes back by end of day. Sounds like Dinos. Summary of what to do about Dino's: join the "Mack's reef Dinoflagellates support group!" on facebook goto "Files" on the top row and download "Dealing With Dinos" (currently Rev G - published Feb 2022) read it, top to bottom. Think about it, read it again. If nothing else, just read the index. It covers chemistry, identification, bacteria, phyto, copeopds, UV, hydrogen peroxide, silica dosing, blackouts, ... All methods I'd read about in different forums, in one place.
  16. I was using my ~20 year old K2R calcium reactor, until I upgraded this Xmas. Still have the little K2R workhorse, if someone wants a deal. It's the perfect ~100-120 gallon tank size.
  17. We were at San Diego, Vegas, and I was at Dallas (a number of years ago) too.
  18. Here's my February Frag pictures. Still have it on a frag rack in the main display tank.
  19. How sad. We've made it a point to attend the last few years of MACNA, and really enjoyed it. We were going again this year, until now.
  20. Friday (2/24) - 5:30pm, changed 70gallons Sunday (2/26) - 4:30pm, changed 70 gallons Observations so far, no ill effects. Hard to say the treatment "stopped RTN." A couple of corals have had STN, but the "S" stands for Slow. So will take some time for the next judgement/observation. Overall, I'm very happy I did this. Very easy, did not show any signs of stress. Even during treatment days.
  21. I have the 12v battery, the trickle charger, the plugs, fuses, and length of cable. But haven't soldered them together yet. from my notes: Reef Dudes https://youtu.be/BV14qU48I8w - Ecotech plug needed: 3.5mm x 1.35mm DC Power Male Plug - Ecotech inline fuse: F2AL250V (5x20mm 2A 2amp 250V 0.2 x 0.78 Inch F2AL250V Fast-Blow Glass Fuses) - Fuse Holder: 5x20mm
  22. I use Molykote 111 to lubricate O-Rings, and just a dab at the base of my MP40/MP60 wet sides after cleaning. Nothing too heavy. It's available on BRS, but looks $10 cheaper (right now) on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/1310476-Molykote-Valve-Lubricant-Sealant/dp/B00IKUIO82/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=molykote%2B111&qid=1677460094&sprefix=molykote%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-1&th=1
  23. I'm a fan of Weld-On #16 as a thickened solvent, when I'm reinforcing my ugly cut spot. And for basic clean corners, it's Weld-On #4 (super thin/like water), applied with effectively a syringe.
